Extract from “We Love Amanda In Uniform”

“I have been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel,” Amanda Tapping [Colonel Sam Carter] told Brit scifi magazine Cult Times for its “Feisty Females” special. “O’Neill is promoted to Brigadier General and the first thing he does is promote Carter to colonel, and I was really surprised and delighted.”
As for General George Hammond, “He’s been promoted too, you know. He’s now in charge of all things pertaining to Stargates and has a swanky new office in the Pentagon. O’Neill speaks to him every day. General Hammond’s presence will be heard if not seen.”
Cult Times asked what sort of colonel Carter is going to be. “Well, I am going to go against writer type,” Tapping responds. “I am going to be a real woman about it, and judging by the women that I’ve met in the military I’m going to conduct myself with grace and dignity and do my job really well. But I don’t foresee any major changes on the horizon.”
Tapping proclaims, “In a slight shift of operations, much of the action is going to centre on the SGC this year, so General O’Neill will have quite a say in what’s going on too. We might well be fulfilling different roles this season, but SG-1 is still, and will always remain, a team. The warmth, respect and love we have for each other won’t change.”
Carter is unabashadly set to continue her romance with Detective Pete Shanahan, played by the delectable David DeLuise. “Pete is a pretty good guy,” says Tapping. “He’s open and he is honest. He’s warm, friendly and very sexy. Pete is one of the good guys and a very good guy for Sam.”
“O’Neill was back for a brief shining moment last week wherein it was a bit of a dream torture sequence we were filming.” [New Order]. “The dream sequence was actually quite idyllic and it was interesting to see what actually goes on inside Carter’s head. What her ideal future is.” Tapping grins that a lot of the fans are going to like it.
A far more sinister and unexpected liaison is on the cards for Carter. It really would spoil a whole lot to reveal her accomplice, but let’s just say we get to see a very bad side of the colonel very early on in the season. Tapping reveals that we’ll be seeing a lot more…”Carter has to slide through a tube nekkid…in quite a dark and sinister episode. It has the potential to have consequences for everyone in general, but Carter in particular.”
“We don’t know exactly what the writers have planned for each of us this year,” Tapping goes on, “but I can tell you Daniel is still trying to sort out the repercussions of having been ascended and what that means with regard to how he can use his knowledge to help defend ourselves. Teal’c takes the bold step of moving out of the SGC into the wider world and gets into a few adventures out there, so it’s going to be interesting watching those events unfold.”

Sam & Jack should get together more often. In all the shows you could see that Jack cared about Carer and that Carter cared about Jack. As for a Pete for Sam’s boyfriend…NO. He’s just not the type for Sam, not sexy, NO. Jack can and is a very caring person. I’d like to see more of Jack and Sam as a couple. They make the show along with Teal’c and Daniel. More romance with Jack and Carter. I’m a great fan of the show, I have all six seasons waiting for season 7 to come out where I can get it. Hope there is more Stargate Sg1, Season 8, 9 10 etc. I love it. Actually I’m addicted to it. I work 2 jobs and get home around1am from last job. Get home and put on DVD of Stargate. Watch it most of the night, get up at 6am and go right back to work. IT’S A GOOD DOWN TO EARTH SHOW, TRAVELLING TO OTHER PLANETS WITH A GREAT LOOKING GUY LIKE JACK, what more could you ask. The team that is now, Jack, Carter, Teal’c , Daniel and General Hammond are the best and the greatest. I hope you will keep on making these shows like they are now and not start adding alot of new stuff. There are enough adventures outside earth to keep it interesting without bringing in alot of new people. i.e., the Russians and all those people. I hope the team stays together and has many more adventures together. It won’t be the same without the 4 that are together right now. Would love to have pictures of everyone. Just need to know where to get them. I’m a very big fan of Stargate Sg1….a GREAT show. Keep it up! Remember, more romance with Jack and Carter.!!!
No way do I want to see any more Sam and Jack stuff on SG1. Can’t stand Carter anymore after all that overdosing on the character last season. I for one certainly don’t love her in uniform, and actually can now barely watch the character and her stupidity, pining after Jack and looking like an idiot episode after episode. She is ruining the show for me. The only hope for season 8 is if they stick her character in a corner some where and only let her come out to put forward some science to enhance the story.
Will New Order not do both of you? I mean, there’s both Sam/Jack and Sam/Pete scenes! 😛
Myself, I like Pete, but I don’t hate S/J ship either, I just don’t want it to be mess with anything in the show (By getting them together)
Amazing how one group of people always finds something to complain about:
Season 4 – Ship
Season 5 – Daniel not doing enough
Season 6 – Jonas
Season 7 – It was originally too much Daniel, but then people started complaining about Sam more
I’m sure the Sam thing will stop when Season 8 starts (Like the Daniel thing last year) and then people will start complaining about Teal’c getting too much screentime or something! 😛

I love it, because Stargate is trying to show peopls lives if They were in this situtation, And Romance can be a big part of someone’s life no matter what kinda of work you do.
This ‘dream’ sequence – NOT something I am wanting to see AT.
The thing is if it was just a dream sequence and we got to see evil Sam acting out against her friends, it could be really really good. But thats not what this is all about is it? What we are going to get here is yet another Samlovesjack vehicle.
Those pesky writers have been at it again.
I think they must have a list on a wall somewhere – 1001 ways we can have sam angst over jack while ‘nothing happens’.
Or how to break fraternisation rules with a clear conscience.
1) a dream
2) looks across a room
3) the president says its OK so it is, so there.
4) looks across a desk
5) looks behind daniel’s shoulder
6) looks at jack longingly, while jack is supposed to be worried about daniel – but we know who jack prefers, dont we?

I used to love Sam – a strong female character with guts and integrity.
This is just another way of pushing the samnjack rubbish whilst saying ‘its going nowhere’.
For something thats isnt happening we have already seen WAY too much of it.

TPTB pushed ‘Jonas is wonderful ‘down our throats and the more we didnt get it, the more they pushed.
They are determined to push Sam into a corner as well and have succeeded in making me GROAN when I see yet another version of Samlovesjack, does jack love sam.
This is excruciatingly NOT what I watch SG1 for.
I suggest tptb go back and look at Sam in seasons 1-4 and give us that one. Sam may not think outside the box like daniel but she was an honest you could trust to do the right thing because it WAS the right thing to do.

Well, that’s the end of Stargate. They should rename the series SGC. Why are they centering stories around the SGC this eason. Have the writers gotten so lazy they just can’t be bothered to be creative? To actually do some research on cultures, history, mythology so that new planets can be created? Isn’t that what this show is all about? No, they just want to see how many times Carter can look longingly into Jack’s eyes, and how many things they can blow up.

Bad side of Jack? He’s gonna MURDER fifth! And fifth is so cute!! We should have a Sam/Fifth romance really. He’s so much better for her than Pete ever will be and it can go somewhere rather than not go anywhere like the current S/J. And imagine, if Sam got w/Fifth, that’d just irk the dear now General even more! Hahaha…it’s so perfect!
I have no idea which show Ms. Tapping is watching. Stargate Sg. 1 is it not. “SG 1 is still, and will always remain a team.The warmth, respect and love we have for each other won´t change”??? Sorry Mrs. Tapping since Evolution Part 2 there is no longer a team. It´s all about Sam want´s Sex with Jack and to hell with the other two guys. And even between Sam and Jack I don´t see warmth or love not even respect. I see only a woman who want´s desperatly sex with her boss. Who is annoyed because of that.
But I would not care to much about it. Different people have different tastes. But in season 7 has had taken over the show completly . It´s no longer a science fiction show – it´s “Sex and the City” in space. And if I read this interview it will be next season even worser. Sorry but I have enough of Sam Carter and her love life.
I WANT STARGATE THE SCIENCE FICTION SHOW BACK!
Okay, I was not planning to comment, but afer reading other peoples thoughts on season eight I just have to speak up. For starters, what is all this crap about everything being focused around Sam, i mean i’ve been readin the spoilers for season eight and so far a large majority of the episodes are based around daniel and tealc. Secind of all, I hate Pete, him and sam together, especially since he has absolutely nothing to do with the SGC, would ruin the show for me, and no amount of making the character seem “cute”will change that for me. I’d agree with everyone else when i say i’m sick with lovesick sam, she goes from guy to guy and i wish they’d just get rid of all these guys who have nothing to do with what the show is centered around. In my opinion they”ve got a perfect gut for sam right in front of them who is involved with the SGC, deserves to be happy, and the two have been evolving their friendship since the begining of the show, Jack and Sam belong together. Now having said that i’m sick of the whole skirting around the issue, no more angst or longing looks, this issue needs to be confronted head on, and if the writers do feel that sam and jack shouldn’t be together, though it would absolutely kill me, the whole longing looks and angst needs to be dropped all together. But please, please don’t try and bring in a “cute”guy to replace jack as sam’s “boyfriend”, like pete. That would kill Jack, and me.
I am sick of Sam, pure and simple. She and her pathetic crush on Jack has killed my love for the series. If I want to watch a soap opera, I’ll watch daytime t.v. A team that respects and cares for each other? Not from where I sit. Starting with Evolution, all we got was a love-sick Sam who did not give a rat’s a** about anyone else but herself and what she wanted: i.e. Jack. She showed no concern for Daniel in Evolution and actually looked pissed off when Jack told her he was going after Daniel. In Heroes, she dismissed Cassie with a terse “She’s a tough kid. She’ll be alright while practically falling into Jack’s arms because of her pain and loss. And the last few seconds of “Lost City” when she pushes in front of Daniel and Teal’c and places her hand “lovingly” on the ice coffin. They actually edited it to make it look like Jack was looking bach longingly at her. He was a frozen Jackcicle, for goodness sakes! I have gotten to the point that I have developed an ACTIVE dislike for all things Carter(Sam, that is.) I still have not decided if I will watch Season 8. If I do, it will be only very select epidodes.
Ooooooooooooook then. Well, what can I say, I haven’t seen all the episodes you guys have, was in Oz, and well, they are only a third of the way through S7, and now living in UK, haven’t seen anything either. However, I kinda didn’t mind Jonas, I mean, he was no Daniel Jackson, but hey, who could be. So, I really wanna see all this supposed Sam and Jack stuff, coz I had no idea it had gotten like that, as far as I had read, it was still a no go. Not sure if it would be good for the show, coz although I’m a big Sam and Jack fan, there is no way the series could survive it becoming a reality. Every series has it’s serious UST couple, and the minute it becomes RST, the show goes to pot. So, maybe they can do something at the end of Season 8, coz well, The boss of the SGC cannot be sleeping with his 2IC, or the Colonel of SG1, it wouldn’t look good. Plus, is it just me, or is RDA looking waaaaaaay older these days?????

I am sick of everyone whinning about what they dislike on this show! Stop complaining so much! the writers KNOW what they are doing they ARE the people who have made you so happy with stargate these past seven years. The writers also know that everyone likes a different aspect about the show and try to satisfy everyone, but it is not easy. They, know what is right for the show! Maybe instead of complaing you should write to them and give them ideas about what you would like to see! They have and do listen.
