S10 Spoilers: Bounty, Updated

Posted in SG-1 at 10:04 pm by michelle

A few further details have been released and are included below.

10.12 Bounty

Summary

Cameron Mitchell goes to his high school reunion in Kansas, accompanied by Vala Mal Doran. What Mitchell doesn’t don’t know is that he’s been tracked to the event by a humanoid alien bounty hunter who wants to use him as bait for a bigger prize: all of SG-1.

Details

Mitchell arrives in Kansas for a high school reunion in honor of the Class of 1987, Vala in tow. They meet Mitchell’s old high school friend, Darrell Grimes, and Mitchell shares stories of old pranks with him, to Vala’s confusion. The the beautiful Amy Vanderberg arrives, and she and Mitchell have an awkward encounter, after which Vala claims that Amy clearly likes Mitchell. While Darrell begins to fall for Vala, Mitchell chats with Amy, who is recently divorced, telling her he had a serious crush on her in high school but didn’t have the courage to act on it. She admits she had a crush on him as well and watched all of his football games. Their reminiscing is interrupted by a cell phone call from General Landry, who manages to tell Mitchell through a poor cell connection that Carter and Teal’c have been attacked, and that Mitchell might be the next target.

In fact, Teal’c has been attacked on a Jaffa planet. He is not seriously injured, but asks that word be put out that he is gravely wounded, perhaps to put whoever attacked him off their guard.

Elsewhere in a Museum of Antiquities, Daniel consults huge ancient texts late into the evening.

While Mitchell begins to react to the news from Landry, alien bounty hunter Odai Ventrell makes his way into the reunion party impersonating another classmate, ex-football player Phil. Brandishing an energy weapon, he corners Mitchell and tells him he is just bait for a bigger prize: SG-1 itself. Ventrell takes Mitchell’s phone and tells Landry, in Mitchell’s voice, that he needs assistance. Ventrell promises not to hurt anyone as long as Mitchell waits without resisting for the rest of SG-1 to come to Mitchell’s aid. Mitchell questions the assumption that SG-1 will come, telling Ventrell that Teal’c isn’t even on Earth. But Ventrell shows Mitchell a hand-held device that is tracking all the members of SG-1: they are all in North America.

What Ventrell doesn’t know is that the SGC is onto him, and that Vala, who also has a price on her head, is elsewhere at the reunion. While Landry, Carter, Teal’c, and Daniel mobilize a rescue, Ventrell and Vala inevitably collide.

We will stop there without spoiling Act 4 of the story further, out of respect to the production.

Chris Judge: Men of Sci-Fi Calendar Coming!

Posted in Press Watch at 7:50 pm by michelle

Chris Judge was interviewed by Tony Tellado of Sci-Fi Talk.com, who recently interviewed Michael Shanks as well. The interview was conducted as they were finishing shooting Episode 6, which was several weeks ago. The discussion ranged over his photography and the Women of Sci-Fi Calendar, Stargate SG-1, his friendship with Michael Shanks, and his appreciation of the fans. Of note is that they are planning a second Women of Sci-Fi Calendar and that Katee Sackhoff of Battlestar Galactica has agreed be in it.

Even better, due to fan demand, Chris and Michael, via their company Slacktwaddle, are moving forward with the Men of Sci-Fi Calendar, and hope to finish shooting it by early August! They will perhaps provide a preview at the Timeless Destinations convention. Let’s hope they’ve consulted the Solutions pollbooth as to what we want to see :)

You may download the mp3 file of the interview and listen for yourself. Visit Sci-Fi Talk to listen in.

Michael Shanks on eTalk Daily

Posted in Press Watch at 7:13 pm by michelle

Michael Shanks was interviewed by Susie Wall, reporter for Canadian talk show eTalk Daily. The segment was filmed right after the birth of Michael and Lexa’s son, Samuel. Michael describes Daniel as the “resident nerd, archeologist, anthropologist, egyptologist, linguist, and anything else that suits the episode.” He also talked about the longevity of SG-1 and what was appearing in his baby boy’s diapers :)

If you have Macromedia Flash 8, you can view the video at Photo Bucket.

Michael Shanks on Cold Pizza

Today Michael Shanks did a remote guest appearance on the US ESPN2 interview/talk program Cold Pizza. He appeared with recently retired NHL player Luc Robitaille, and they traded quips and opinions about the NHL Hockey play-offs, this year’s rules changes, and even the NBA play-offs, which Michael is following at least partly because Phoenix Suns’ MVP Steve Nash is a Canadian.

A video of the interview is available in an 18 MB wmv file at MichaelShanks-online.com.

SGA S3 Spoiler Recap

Posted in Atlantis at 8:18 pm by DeeKayP

The cast and production team of Stargate Atlantis are currently filming their mid-season two-parter for Season Three. This article includes a recap of the storylines and tidbits for the first eleven episodes of the season.

3.01 No Man’s Land and 3.02 The Misbegotten

Written by Martin Gero, “No Man’s Land” picks up where “Allies” leaves off and delves into the Wraith’s civil war and their vie for access to the feeding grounds in the Milky Way Galaxy. How close will the Wraith get to Earth? This episode marks the return of Connor Trinneer as Michael Kenmore, the Wraith which the Atlantis Expedition Team converted into a human through the use of Dr. Beckett’s retrovirus (2.18 “Michael”). Trinneer also appears in the second episode, “The Misbegotten”, written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. Because Michael didn’t revert completely to his Wraith form, he is neither fully Wraith nor fully human and has no place in either society.

3.03 Sateda

Said to be one of the most exciting action-packed episodes of the show thus far is Robert C. Cooper’s “Sateda”. This episode explores Ronon Dex’s background as a Runner and how his past affected the various worlds wherein he took shelter. Several of the production staff who have blogged about this episode can’t stop talking about its energy level and of Cooper’s superb directorial achievements.

3.04 Irresistible

Richard Kind guest stars as an alien man who proves to have a strange effect on others, making him “irresistable” to Sheppard’s team and others of Atlantis. It’s supposed to be the season’s most entertaining episode, written by Carl Binder and Brad Wright.

3.05 Progeny

As it turns out, the Replicators have cousins in the Pegasus Galaxy in the form of the Asurans — human form Replicants who took on the image of their creators, the Ancients. When the Atlantian Ancients discovered that their experiment in nanotechnological warfare (1.13 “Hot Zone”) had gone wrong, they tried to destroy it. They weren’t successful, and now, after thousands of years of evolution, some the Asurans wish to accomplish the ultimate goal of their creators — ascension. None of them know how, but they think they can find the answer by searching the minds of the Atlantis crew. Some of the Asurans, however, wish only to seek revenge on those who tried to destroy them 10,000 years ago. Written by Carl Binder, this is the first of two episodes which focus on Atlantis’s new enemy.

3.06 The Real World

In a false reality created by the Asurans, Dr. Elizabeth Weir must endeavor to keep her sanity as everyone around her tells her that the Atlantis Expedition is only a figment of her imagination. Richard Dean Anderson reprises his role as Jack O’Neill, but is he really there? This is the second episode of the Asuran story arc written by Carl Binder.

3.07 Common Ground

Sheppard must face an old nemesis, Acastus Kolya of the Genii. Robert Davi reprises his role as one of the most intense characters ever introduced on the show. “Common Ground” is written by new staff writer Ken Cuperus.

3.08 McKay and Mrs. Miller

Viewers finally get to meet McKay’s sister, Jeanie, played by Kate Hewlett, David Hewlett’s real-life sister. This story, written by Martin Gero, explores the relationship between the siblings and delves into the possibilities of roads not taken.

3.09 (untitled Character Backstories story)

This episode remains a bit of a mystery. Martin Gero, in an interview with GateWorld, said that it had character backstories and is written by Carl Binder. It is possible that this episode will also address one of the issues brought forth by executive producer Robert C. Cooper — the lack of character moments in Atlantis as compared to the same time in Stargate SG-1’s history.

3.10/3.11 The Return

“The Return” is the mid-season two-parter penned by Martin Gero and marks the return of two pivotal characters to the Stargate universe, as well as the return of the Asurans. Robert Picardo returns as Richard Woolsey and Richard Dean Anderson returns as Gen. Jack O’Neill (the final two of the three episodes he will appear in this season). The Asurans have captured Atlantis, the place of their creation, and now the Team must get it back.

Second Half: TBD

According to Martin Gero, 15 of the season’s 20 episodes have been planned (as of late March when the interview was conducted). Of these 15 episodes, only four contain plots concerning the Wraith.

Gero calls the third season a “make or break” season, challenging the creative team to develop a rich universe filled with interesting, believable, and lovable characters experiencing extraordinary adventures together with the same lasting quality as has been so aptly demonstrated by Stargate SG-1, one of American sci-fi’s most successful TV shows of all time.

Spoilers are subject to change as the episodes are still in production.

Pardon Our Dust! Wiki Moved, Sort Of

Posted in Articles & Updates at 5:54 pm by michelle

Edited to add… we’ve rigged things up so that old links into the wiki will work, but a little slower than the new ones. So it’s a good idea to update your bookmark to our spiffy new URL: http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/Main_Page

Since we’ve made things “backward-compapitble,” the above will be our permanent wiki home. Well, as permanent as anything is in cyber space. Please email us if you see any problems. Now go and enjoy our new articles!

If you’re seeing this message, you’re seeing Solutions on a new hosting provider, which we hope will yield a more stable site. But, the move of the wiki has hit a snag in spite of our pre-move testing. So for now we have to keep it in a slightly different location, here:

http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/Main_Page

We hope to get the subdomain (wiki.stargate-sg1-solutions.com) address working again. If anyone out there is a php mod_rewrite expert, we’d welcome your participation. ;)
