After 4 Decades, a Cold War Symbol Stands Down

The New York Times reports Cheyenne Mountain will shut down daily operations to save costs and in response to the changing nature of the threats to North America. The base’s functions and most of the personnel assigned there will transfer to nearby Peterson Air Force Base. The mountain will be kept only as a backup, though fully operational and staffed with support personnel รขโ‚ฌโ€ a place of secure retreat should the need again arise.

There is no word on whether the SGC will remain where it is. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. That would be kinda cool…I always thought it was funny how SG was supposed to be made up of American soldiers, yet most of the actors are Canadian and it’s filmed in Canada! (course I luv the big C, grew up on the boarder)

  3. Canada is geourges lived there on and off planning to purchase a log cabin in kamloops so I can retire there …working on it now
