Set your VCR’s! Don’t forget, Michael Shanks stars in “Under the Mistletoe,” premiering on the US Lifetime Channel this Monday, Dec. 4, at 9 pm local time. Check your local listings to be sure. The production company website has a poster and trailer for the movie (although it does not seem to play on a Mac).

David Hewlett has announced today that MGM will be doing the world-wide distribution of his independent film, “A Dog’s Breakfast.” David gives much credit for this deal to Stargate fans who stepped up to help market the film and create on-line buzz for it. Honestly, as one who has seen it, the quality of the film stands on its own, and it is well deserving of big-time distribution. Here’s hoping it comes to a theater near you sooner rather than later!

In the current issue of TV Guide, Stargate SG-1 fans are given quite a few interesting spoilers about the upcoming second half of the season, but one of the biggest surprises was the announcement that the Stargates are not returning to the SciFi Channel until April 2007. This information comes on the heels of the announcement that SciFi is moving Battlestar Galactica to Sundays starting January 21, 2007, presumably to increase the show’s failing ratings. Along with the Stargates, Battlestar had been part of SciFi’s record-breaking “SciFi Friday” until the channel broke up the schedule to accommodate their goal to broadcast new episodes of their original programs year-round. It hasn’t been revealed if the Stargates will return to Fridays or if they’ll also be moved to a different night.
Thanks to prion for the tip.

Just a click away
The Solutions editorial staff consists of Stargate fans from around the world. It is only fitting that we provide information about the shows for more of the international community. To start, we’ve added airing dates for current-season episodes for both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis to our calendar, a new feature of our on-site forum. Right now, the calendar has the schedules for current-season airings on Canada’s SPACE, Movie Central, and Movie Network, as well as Sky One for the UK and SciFi in the US. Additionally, SciFi’s showing of older season SG-1 episodes on weekdays and the US Syndication schedule are provided. The November and December calendars are fairly up-to-date considering these schedules are oftentime changed without much notice. (If you have schedule information not on the calendar and wish to have it added, please just contact us and we’ll see about adding it.)
We’ve also included convention schedules from around the globe. As with the episode airings, we have a link to a forum post which gives more information about the event. It’s a great resource!
And, to add a personal touch, we’ve included the birthdays of the shows’ main cast members. If you want to see an actor’s birthday added, just let us know.
Benefits of joining the forum include the ability to post to our discussion topic threads and send private messages to other forum members. Unregistered guests still get to read the topics, but anything included in spoiler tags will not be visible. We have a special topic thread just for the calendar in case you’d like to correspond to our administrators about the feature.
You can get directly to the calendar by clicking on the links on Solutions’ home page under the “Solutions Calendar” heading in the “New Episodes & Spoilers” box (upper left-hand box). If you’re in the forum itself, use the Calendar button on the top menu bar.
Enjoy!

New schedule will start in January 2007
The SciFi Channel will be remaking their schedule in January and moving Battlestar Galactica to Sunday nights at 10pm Eastern starting January 21, 2007.
This move has been rumored for quite some time, but the exact night of the move wasn’t known. According to Michael Ausiello on TVGuide.com, this move was in response to the show’s low ratings. SciFi’s VP of programming, Mark Stern, talked with Variety (“New ‘Battlestar’ orbit: Sci Fi Channel drama moving to Sundays at 10″) concerning the move, but didn’t state ratings as a factor per se, but that Fridays are more competitive than they once were.
The new Sunday line-up will also include The Dresden Files as the lead-in at 9pm Eastern.
It’s still unknown how this change in SciFi Friday will affect the Stargates which, by last accounts, are not returning until March 2007.
To find out more about the schedule, visit The Chicago Tribune: ‘Battlestar Galactica’ moves to Sundays (possible spoilers).

There were at least 3 Stargate-related conventions going on this weekend, and various bits of news came out of them related to casting of the remaining S10/S3 episodes, as well as upcoming SG-1 DVD movies and Season 4 of Atlantis.
- N. John Smith confirmed at Collectormania in Manchester, UK, that Carson Beckett will disappear in the second half of Season 3, and that Paul McGillion won’t be a cast regular in Season 4. He did promise Beckett would return for some number of future episodes. This confirms rumors that have been floating for months, and fans have already started a campaign to make their objections to this change clear. Visit SaveCarsonBeckett.com for more info.
- Amanda Tapping said at the GABIT convention in the UK that she will be appearing in “a few” episodes of Atlantis next year, but that it wouldn’t be a full-time role. Michael Shanks said at Creation Con that he has heard we will be seeing a familiar SG-1 face on Atlantis, but that it won’t be him. We assume he was referring to Tapping. Torri Higginson declined to give any details on who might be crossing over, but was supportive of the idea. She also said she had no idea what is in store for Weir in Season 4.
- David Hewlett at Creation Con mentioned that Michael Beach, formerly of ER, has joined the cast of Atlantis, presumably as a recurring character. David used the term “has joined the cast”. His role in SGA is already listed in Beach’s wikipedia entry, but might be new to many fans. David said that Michael is very good a long passages of dialog. He will appear in Season 3, since he has already filmed at least one episode. It’s not known how many episodes he will be in.
- Cliff Simon at Creation Burbank said he expects to reprise his role as Ba’al in at least one of the two SG-1 DVD movies.
- Michael Shanks at Creation Burbank seemed quite committed to being in both movies, and in movies beyond that if the DVD’s sell well and MGM asks for more.
Visit our forum for brief snippets on the conventions from attendees, and stay tuned for a complete A Dog’s Breakfast Screening and Creation Burbank report.

Gateworld has announced plans to sell a new book commemorating 10 years of Stargate: SG-1. From the thread at GW forum:
To celebrate the world premiere of the 200th episode, the cast and crew of Stargate SG-1 gathered for a big party on August 18, 2006. Part of the celebration was an anniversary gift to every member of the cast and crew from the show’s executive producers, Robert Cooper and Brad Wright. Titled “Stargate SG-1: A Celebration of 10 Years,” it is a glossy, full-color collector’s book packed with pictures, memories, and more from 10 years of Stargate’s production.
A limited number of additional copies of this very unique project were printed to help defray costs, and will be offered to fans exclusively through GateWorld! A portion of the proceeds will also go to charity. Here’s what interested collectors need to know:
* Books will be available for sale exclusively online at GateWorld in the near future. We expect to have approximately 1,000 copies, and no decision has yet been made as to whether more will ever be printed.
* The book includes some favorite photos you have seen, and behind-the-scenes snapshots you’ve never laid eyes on. (My favorite is Martin Wood holding hands with a Furling!)
* These books are autographed. While we won’t be able to accommodate specific autograph requests, we can guarantee that every book is autographed by at least one main cast member of Stargate SG-1 and one producer.
* Books also include four blank Autographs pages! Take your book to conventions with you to collect more autographs, and make your volume absolutely unique.
* The book is paperback, 151 pages, measuring 10 inches by 10 inches. Every page is glossy (heavy stock paper) and full-color.
* There is an introductory limit of two copies per person.
* The introductory price is $199.99 U.S. (You’ll be able to pay by Visa, Mastercard, and hopefully by PayPal.)
* We expect to have international shipping available, for those willing to pay the freight costs from the U.S.
The books are not yet available for ordering, but should be by sometime in mid December, according to GW.
