Season Ten Premieres on SPACE Nov. 2

S10 and Specials on Canada’s SPACE in November

(Toronto — October 17, 2006) The fan-favourite Stargate SG-1 returns to SPACE for a 10th season on November 2, airing in its regular timeslot — Thursdays at 10pm ET / 7pm PT. This new season will be a historic one, making it the longest-running science fiction series on television, surpassing The X-Files and every series of Star Trek. Also airing in celebration of the 10th season are 10 Years of Stargate SG-1, a SPACE original production that takes a retrospective look at the popular series (November 2 at 11pm ET / 8pm PT); and Stargate SG-1 True Science, a one-hour program that looks into the science behind the show (November 9 at 11pm ET / 8pm PT).

Each season the SG-1 team, consisting of soldiers and scientists, step through the stargate and travel instantaneously to other planets to explore, forge alliances, defuse crises, establish trade, investigate ancient mysteries, and defend Earth from hostile forces such as the Goa’uld, the Replicators, and the Ori. In the season premiere, as the Ori invade the Jaffa planet Chulak, Vala and Daniel must deal with their leader, Vala’s younger daughter Adria, who is rapidly aged by the Ori to serve their purposes.

Shot in Vancouver, the series stars longtime SG-1 favourites Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks; as well as newcomers from last season, Farscape’s Ben Browder and Claudia Black; and veteran actor Beau Bridges. The 10th season features the much-anticipated 200th episode, featuring the return of Richard Dean Anderson who reprises his role as General Jack O’Neill, and a special guest appearance by Willie Garson (Sex and the City). This episode, titled 200, airs on SPACE on December 7 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT.

The Sci Fi Channel in the U.S. has announced that this will be the last season of the series, however MGM has been granted a green light to produce two movies, likely for DVD release.
