SG-1 Returns to SciFi Friday

Season Eight

It’s been noted of late about how the break-up of SciFi Channel’s SciFi Friday most likely led to lower ratings for Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica. When asked to give a Battlestar scoop, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello had the following to say:

Question: Battlestar scoop?— Sam

Ausiello: Rumor has it that something big is brewing behind the scenes that could go a long way in boosting the show’s ailing Nielsen’s. It concerns the show’s time slot.

SciFi’s most recent change in SciFi Friday’s line-up has been to re-introduce Stargate SG-1 into the mix. Season Eight episodes, starting with “Lockdown”, will start showing between Battlestar‘s new episode broadcasts at 10pm Eastern.

Battlestar still holds its 9pm timeslot in this new line-up, but speculation based on Ausiello’s scoop has led some fans to believe that SciFi will be moving the show to 10pm in the new year (this would return it to its old slot when the Stargates were part of the powerful SciFi Friday line-up last season). Only time will tell what SciFi’s plans actually entail.

The new SciFi Friday line-up for this Friday, November 10, includes (all times Eastern):

07:00 PM HEROES – NOTHING TO HIDE
08:00 PM DOCTOR WHO – THE IDIOT’S LANTERN
09:00 PM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (SEASON 3) – A MEASURE OF SALVATION – PT 2
10:00 PM STARGATE SG-1 (SEASON 8 ) – LOCKDOWN
11:00 PM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (SEASON 3) – A MEASURE OF SALVATION – PT 2
12:00 AM DOCTOR WHO – THE IDIOT’S LANTERN
01:00 AM SCI FI INVESTIGATES – SCI FI INVESTIGATES ROSWELL

Additionally, older episodes of Stargate SG-1 have returned to their 6pm timeslot weekdays.

Edited to add: Additional speculation as to the change in timeslot to which Ausiello alluded for Battlestar Galactica has emerged at SyFy Portal. The article indicates that some fans believe that SciFi will actually be moving the show to a different night, specifically Wednesday. This speculation should also be considered a rumor until official word comes from SciFi itself.
