David Lambert has posted an announcement on the TVShowsonDVD.com website for the upcoming DVD release of Robert C. Cooper’s Stargate: The Ark of Truth for North America: March 11, 2008.

Robert C. Cooper himself had mentioned this release date on Joseph Mallozzi’s blog, but wasn’t certain that it was official. According to Lambert, the date has been confirmed by MGM and Fox:

This morning our friends in the home video retail world got an update from MGM and distributor Fox Home Entertainment. The were officially informed that Stargate SG-1 – The Ark of Truth will arrive on DVD this March 11th. Cost is $26.98 SRP in the USA, and CA$37.98 SRP in Canada. The 97-minute long production will be in widescreen, with English Dolby 5.1 audio, French and Spanish Dolby Surround audio, and subtitles in English and Spanish. Extras were not mentioned yet, but we do expect some to be present. Stay tuned for further word about that, and for box art, just as soon as we can!

Cooper mentioned an extra that he desired to include that would bring viewers up-to-date with the Stargate universe. This might be the special Behind the Mythology of Stargate SG-1 that premiered on Sci Fi on April 13, 2007. MGM has included this special in their video gallery on their official Stargate website, and it was among the features included in the Collector’s DVD Set. Joseph Mallozzi has also stated in his personal blog that special features editor Ivon Bartok conducted an interview with Michael Shanks for a DVD feature back in August, but didn’t provide any additional information as to which movie’s feature it was (it could have been for Brad Wright’s Stargate: Continuum, which has a tentative release set for July 2008).

Stargate: The Ark of Truth will close the Ori story arc that was introduced in Season Nine.
