News Notes
News Flashes and Brief Follow-Ups
- Wray Douglas – Joseph Mallozzi wrote in his weblog on September 10, “Today, we said goodbye to Special Efffects Wiz Wray Douglas who rides off into the sunset after a dozen+ years spent sparking, flaming, dropping, ratcheting, and generally blowing all manner of shit up here on Stargate. You’ll be missed, buddy.” Douglas has appeared in several behind-the-scenes features over the years to share many of his trade secrets. There’s a video currently available at MGM’s Official website concerning the flame thrower Greer used in SGU 1.06 “Water”. SG-1 fans may recall one of his most dramatic explosions, which he got only one chance to get right: the destruction of the Abydos pyramid in “Full Circle”.
- Fake Twitter Warning! – Jason Momoa and Robert Carlyle are NOT, repeat NOT, on Twitter. Those accounts using their names are not theirs!
Stargate Universe Press
- Season One begins its US Syndication run this week. Check your local listings for dates and times.
- Season Two will premiere on Tuesday, September 28, at 9 PM ET on Syfy. The channel recently announced that Caprica will follow at 10 PM ET starting October 5. Originally Amanda Tapping‘s Sanctuary was to follow SGU, but Syfy has decided to keep the show in its regular timeslot of 10 PM ET on Fridays. Sanctuary returns with its 20-episode Season Three on October 15.
- Spoiler Images for the first two episodes of Season Two, “Intervention” and “Aftermath”, were posted by Daemon’s TV. The keyword in that sentence: SPOILER!
It should be noted that whenever spoilers come out for SGU, they are placed in the episode guides in the Stargate Wiki without much fanfare here in the News Blog. To keep on top of such updates, visit the main page of the Stargate Wiki to see the “Recent Updates” list of links.
