Tok'ra Operative Aldwin

Summary

Aldwin was a Tok'ra operative who had a few encounters with SG-1 before he was killed in attack against Ravanna by the System Lord Zipacna in the Season Five episode, Last Stand.

Character Biography

Aldwin was a Tok'ra operative who had the ear of the Tok'ra High Council. SG-1's first encounter with him was when Teal'c met him on Vorash, a planet home to a Tok'ra secret base [Jolinar's Memories/The Devil You Know]. Teal'c was on a covert mission with the rest of SG-1 and Martouf, also a Tok'ra operative, in rescuing Jacob Carter/Selmak from Netu, Sokar's version of Hell. Since Major Samantha Carter had once been host to Jolinar of Malkshur, another Tok'ra, she was thought to hold the memories of how Jolinar escaped this allegedly inescapable place. Teal'c was piloting the Teltak which brought SG-1 and Martouf to Netu when he learned of Sokar's plans to attack the other system lords. He passed this information on to Aldwin, who, after consulting with the Tok'ra High Council, went back to Netu with Teal'c with a powerful weapon. It was the Tok'ra's intent that by destroying Netu, Sokar's mother ship would also be destroyed. The Tok'ra needed to prevent Sokar at all costs, including the loss of the rest of SG-1, Martouf/Lantash, and Jacob/Selmak, because if Sokar succeeded in destroying the other system lords, he would have become unstoppable.

Aldwin had a high sense of duty in fulfilling his mission to destroy Netu and Sokar's fleet. As most Tok'ra, he believed in sacrificing the few to save the many. Teal'c challenged him on setting off the weapon, aimed at Netu's core, because he disagreed with sacrificing his teammates and the other Tok'ra. Aldwin drew a zat on Teal'c and launched his weapon, which succeeded at reaching its target and fulfilling its purpose. Teal'c struck Aldwin and confined him to the Teltak's cargo bay so that Aldwin would not prevent him from his efforts to rescue SG-1. Aldwin recognized Teal'c resolve and provided him with the instructions necessary for Teal'c to pilot the Teltak into the transporter ring matter stream which SG-1, Martouf/Lantash, and Jacob/Selmak would be in. Once they were safely onboard, Teal'c returned the zat to Aldwin and the two of them seemed to have made amends.

Aldwin next encountered SG-1 when Shifu, the human offspring of the union of two Goa'uld hosts (a Harsesis), was brought into the SGC [Absolute Power]. Since Shifu was believed to possess the genetic knowledge of the Goa'uld, both the SGC and the Tok'ra hoped that having access to this child's knowledge would give them a great advantage in their war with the Goa'uld. Even though Shifu's memories had been buried deep into his subconscious by Oma Desala because of the evil nature of the Goa'uld genetic memory, Aldwin believed that he could reveal the authenticity of Shifu's identity by using the Tok'ra's zatarc detection device. Daniel Jackson stopped the interview because it had been revealed in a dream given to him by Oma through Shifu, that the best thing to do was to leave the knowledge hidden, otherwise it would destroy whomever held it.

Aldwin's final encounter with SG-1 was on the planet Ravanna, one of the Tok'ra's last secret bases [Summit/Last Stand]. He met SG-1 and SG-16 with the intention of providing them with a tour of the facilities and a lecture on the development of Tok'ra insurgency techniques since the collapse of the second Goa'uld dynasty. While he was guiding SG-16 on the tour, Zipacna, a system lord serving under Anubis, attacked the base. Aldwin, Colonel Jack O'Neill, and Teal'c went to the surface of Ravanna to determine the severity of the attack. Aldwin was thrown from a blast from one of the attacking gliders and was fatally wounded.

We never learn the name of Aldwin's Tok'ra symbiote.
