Asgard O'Neill-Class Ship

Summary

The O'Neill-Class ship is the name for the Asgard ship first seen in 4.01 "Small Victories Part 2". It is the first Asgard ship designed to fight the Replicators, and is the most advanced ship of its time. It is named for Jack O'Neill of the SGC, for his actions in assisting the Asgard war against the Replicators in 3.22 "Nemesis Part 1".

Technical Details

While much of the ship's technology is unknown, it can be conjectured that it is similar to the Beliskner-Class, only more advanced. It is known, even with the first ship, the O'Neill, only partially constructed, its hyperspace capablities are still fully functional. It is also shown that the ship can be remotely controlled and self-destructed. The hull of the O'Neill is an alloy of naquadah, trinium, and carbon, and is the strongest material the Asgard know of. (4.01 "Small Victories Part 2")

The O'Neill was used as bait to destroy three Replicator-infested ships and was destroyed before it was completed, but the Asgard, confident in its design, built more ships in its class. (4.01 "Small Victories Part 2", 5.22 "Revelations")

The only time we ever see the O'Neill-Class in action is with six O'Neill-class ships defending Orilla from a mass of Replicator blocks flying towards Orilla. Their primary weapon is similar to the Beliskner, a forward cannon firing a large blue pulse of energy. The counterpart weapon on the Beliskner is a slightly different hued pulse of energy, traveling slightly faster as well. (8.01 "New Order Part 1")

The O'Neill-Class was designed to bring the fight to the Replicators. Given that around four or so years pass between its arrival, and the final destruction of the Replicators, and that, according to Thor, the Asgard were barely holding off the invasion of their homeworld, the O'Neill must have been extremely successful in engagements against the Replicators.

The O'Neill-Class is also an extremely potent warship against the Goa'uld as well. When three O'Neill-Class ships challenged Anubis's upgraded Ha'taks, Anubis immediately ran from the battle. The fact that he did not even try to engage, whereas before he decimated Thor's Beliskner-Class ship, tells of the effectiveness of this new battleship. (5.22 "Revelations")

The O'Neill-Class now serves as the main warship of the Asgard, and at least six have been built, one of which is the Valhalla, commanded by Aegir. (8.01 "New Order Part 1")
