10.02 "Morpheus" (working title)
(Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _)
  • In answer to whether or not Daniel will be showing more patience and compassion toward Vala in Season Ten, Joseph Mallozzi stated, "There are some really nice moments along these lines in Morpheus, Counter-Strike, and Memento Mori." (SG1Solutions, January 20)
  • "Finished the rewrites on Morpheus and Counter-Strike and will be reviewing them both this weekend." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 19 Blog.
  • "Two of the things that stand out about Morpheus for me are: 1) the great Carter/Daniel sequence late in the episode [described by Mallozzi as "angsty" in the comments section of his December 21 Blog entry] and, 2) Teal'c getting the opportunity to step up in a non-Jaffa story. As I mentioned in a previous post (somewhere), this is the episode where we're faced with the prospect of Vala's continued involvement in the Stargate Program and must ask ourselves some hard questions. By "we", of course, I'm referring to the SGC. [...] Anyhow, this is the episode where those in charge of the SGC [...] weigh in on Vala's worth, character, and past actions. Who knows what the future holds?" — Joseph Mallozzi, December 21 Blog.
  • "Well, take Morpheus for example which, initially, was intended as a Carter-centered potential cross-over episode. After some discussion in the room, it was decided that it would work better as an SG-1 team-centered story." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 21.
  • "I wrote up the four outlines over two days (Atlantis episode #2, Morpheus, Counter-Strike, and Memento Mori), then started work on Morpheus which will be SG-1's second episode. It was a lot of fun but required a heady amount of research: Arthurian lore, Gwalchmei, the different stages of sleep, how the brain functions during sleep, and, of course, psychiatric evaluations. With Vala on board for all of season 10, we have to ask ourselves: Why would she want to join Stargate Command? Why would we want her to join Stargate Command? And, of course, do we feel that we can trust her? All of these questions come up in this episode and are answered, temporarily at least." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 14 Blog.
  • "Claudia [Black] will be in all 20 episodes and will have a major role in season 10. As to what her [Vala Mal Doran's] position will be at Stargate Command, check out episode #2, tentatively titled Morpheus." — Joseph Mallozzi, Aust Sci Fi interview, December 9.
  • Concerning Vala's past untrustworthiness and her role in Stargate Command: "It's funny you should bring this up since, just this morning, I was writing a scene in which Daniel and Landry have this very conversation. There are strong arguments on both side of the debate, and an added little element you all won't be aware of until much later." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions Forum, December 3.
  • "Morpheus, for instance, has elements of the overall arc that will drive season 10, but is, for all intents and purposes, a stand-alone episode." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions Forum, November 30.
  • "Episode 2, Morpheus, finds the team going off-world and getting in a mess of trouble." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.
  • "A refashioned Morpheus will be episode 2." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions Forum, November 28.
  • "I and/or Paul will be writing the second episode, formerly Morpheus but since some are worried that fans may confuse it with Orpheus or Moebius, I've decided to change the title to: "Before I Sleeping With the Enemy at the Gates of Heaven Can Wait Until Dark Water World" (Feel free to run with it. Knock yourselves out)." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, November 21.
  • Morpheus is from Greek mythology. He is the god of dreams and usually takes on the form of humans, while his brothers take on the form of animals and inanimate objects. — Mythography: Morpheus; WikiPedia: Morpheus.
  • "As pitched, both Suffer the Children and Orpheus [sic] are Carter stories. Extreme Measures is an SG-1 team episode. The Darkest Recesses a "Daniel in peril" episode." — Joseph Mallozzi in the Comments section for his GateWorld Blog entry of November 13. As of right now, "Suffer the Children", "Extreme Measures", and "The Darkest Recesses" have not yet been slated for production.
  • "I've always been better pitching on paper than delivering verbal pitches, so I wrote up a bunch of story ideas for both shows: Extreme Measures, In the Darkest Recesses, The Kindred, Suffer the Children, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow, The Tainted, and Morpheus. I do know that Brad [Wright] liked Morpheus." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, November 13.

10.03 BRAD'S DANIEL STORY (unknown working title)
(Written by: Brad Wright; Directed by: _)
  • "Haven't read the script, but the plan is for him [Daniel] to come back at episode's end." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, January 20.
  • The "potentially controversial story arc" for Daniel which had been identified with this episode was tabled, but Mallozzi said, "We'll probably get resume discussing "the arc" in the coming weeks." (SG1Solutions, January 20)
  • This story has "major story arc implications" and caused "heated debate in the writers' room", the reason being: "That you'll have to wait and see although, at the time we were discussing it, it was intended to serve as the launch for a significant, potentially very controversial story arc for one of the characters." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 22. This may or may not be related to the "controversial story arc" for Daniel which might mean his becoming a darker character, as has been alluded to by Mallozzi in the past and about which he has stated on SG1Solutions, "I've been sworn to secrecy on this one."
  • "Brad is working on a story in which Daniel, finally, gets to go to Atlantis. So far, we have no Carter crossovers planned." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 20. (It was confirmed that Daniel's trip to Atlantis is to be in this episode by Joseph Mallozzi on SG1Solutions, December 21.)
  • "As I mentioned in my previous blog entry, the occasionally bespectacled one takes a trip far, far away in episode 3. Brad will be doing the honors on this one. Very interesting. There was plenty of heated debate in the writers' room while we were breaking this one." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.
  • "Tomorrow, it's episode #3, Brad's Daniel story, that sees the occasionally-bespectacled one travel far, far away." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, November 21.

(Written by: Alan McCullough; Directed by: _)
  • "I'm contracted for 16 episodes this season," Shanks says. "I'll probably be out of the fourth and fifth episodes and two others later on." — Michael Shanks, Michael Shanks Online Interview with Michael Shanks, January 2006.
  • "Alan handed in his best script to date: Insider. Stargate Command is going to have their hands full juggling - well, what does the average person juggle, right? - in this one." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 14 Blog. (Most likely, the SGC will be juggling several of Ba'al's clones.)
  • "Alan will tackle episode 4 which sees an old enemy rearing his ugly heads." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.

  • "I'm contracted for 16 episodes this season," Shanks says. "I'll probably be out of the fourth and fifth episodes and two others later on." — Michael Shanks, Michael Shanks Online Interview with Michael Shanks, January 2006.
  • "Damian is working on the rewrite of Uninvited, episode 5." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 14 Blog.
  • "Damian was in Friday and today to break his episode, 5, the one about the ill-fated getaway." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.

10.06 200TH EPISODE (unknown working title)
(Written by: Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie, (Martin Gero); Directed by: _)
  • When asked about whether or not the 200th episode will include an Atlantis crossover, Mallozzi replied, "It will be strictly an SG-1 episode." (GW Q&A, January 21)
  • "We've got the 200th episode to work on and Alan's heist episode, and the SG-1 mid-season two-parter that already has the visual effects department salivating." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 19 Blog.
  • "Rob suggested we try to break the big 200th episode sometime next week. Brad already has a rough draft of his piece." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 14 Blog.
  • "And, of course, there's the big 200th episode that will offer up a little something for everyone. It'll be an episode unlike any we've ever produced, both in terms of format and content." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 2 Blog.
  • "Brad has been working on the third episode of SG-1 as well as that wild (some will no doubt say "crazy") idea for the 200th episode, getting on it early as it will take some time to prepare for." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 28 Blog.
  • "No planned cameos [of the writers, producers] for the 200th episode. Not yet anyway." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 22.
  • "As for the Furlings - how's this for a newsflash - we may finally find out about them in season 10. Don't laugh. We've seriously discussed the possiblity." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 22.
  • "Episode 6 will be, of course, our 200th episode and we've tossed around some great, albeit insane, ideas on this one." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.

10.07 "Counter-Strike" (working title)
(Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _)
  • In answer to whether or not Daniel will be showing more patience and compassion toward Vala in Season Ten, Joseph Mallozzi stated, "There are some really nice moments along these lines in Morpheus, Counter-Strike, and Memento Mori." (SG1Solutions, January 20)
  • "Finished the rewrites on Morpheus and Counter-Strike and will be reviewing them both this weekend." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 19 Blog.
  • "This early, I can't assure anyone of anything with regard to who or what, exactly, is lost in Counter-Strike." — Joseph Mallozzi, comments section of December 21 Blog.
  • Concerning the two characters with a rocky past who are given a bonding opportunity in this episode, Joseph Mallozzi says, "It's not Landry and Lam." (SG1Solutions, December 22)
  • "For instance, a while ago, a fan asked whether Daniel would be telling Vala about Sha're. At the time, my response was "it's possible" simply because the circumstances had not presented itself. Lo and behold, the proper circumstances did come along in Counter-Strike." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 22.
  • "As I was writing Counter-Strike, I realized that it was a surprisingly sober outing for one particular character and wondered whether it was a little too "down". I honestly can't see how it can't be given the circumstances. Still, we finally get to see the inside of an Ori ship and the story affords a bonding opportunity between two characters with a rocky past." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 21 Blog.
  • Vala will learn about Sha're and Amaunet [from either Daniel or Teal'c] in this episode. (Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 18)
  • "The plan was to finish one script and write the second one in January when we got back to the office, choosing one and letting Paul write the Atlantis and the third SG-1. Well, that was the plan but after a couple of days of R&R, I started to feel guilty, so I started the second script, Counter-Strike, which I believe has been slotted for the 7 spot. Lots of good emotion in this one, bonding, and a significant loss at episode's end. I'm kind of concerned about the visual effects budget on this one and will look to trim a little in my next pass." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 14 Blog.
  • "We ended up breaking episode 7 today which either Paul and/or I will write. This one is going to be a lot of fun. Brad said it reminded him of Reckoning, and no wonder." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.

10.08 "Memento Mori" (working title)
(Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _)
  • In answer to whether or not Daniel will be showing more patience and compassion toward Vala in Season Ten, Joseph Mallozzi stated, "There are some really nice moments along these lines in Morpheus, Counter-Strike, and Memento Mori." (SG1Solutions, January 20)
  • "On Monday, I'll be getting notes on Memento-Mori and preliminary indications are the first draft is in pretty good shape." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 19 Blog.
  • "Finally, Memento Mori. I'm still smiling at the Vala-Mitchell scenes, anticipating the fan reaction to the "dinner date" debate, and am curious as to whether Ben [Browder] knows how to ride a motorcycle." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 21 Blog.
  • "Going back with two scripts would be huge. Going back would be mind-blowing. So, I've started work on Memento Mori, which I believe is slotted for the 8 spot. I'm only into the first act and, ideally, would love to get it done before the family comes to visit on the 23rd. This one will also be a lot of fun and have already done a little research on memories, a certain war goddess from Cronos's neck of the woods, and Caribbean deli menus." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 14 Blog.
  • "Episode 8 is going to be the Vala story I pitched (which came to me after a carafe of sake last Friday night) and we'll be getting around to breaking that one tomorrow. Ivon [Bartok, DVD Features] was in the room today, recording it all for a possible season 10 special feature." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.

10.XX "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" (working title)
(Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _)
  • "It's not episode 9. And hopefully, it will be in the back half of season 10." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, January 20.
  • "The next couple of weeks will no doubt be spent reading and commenting on scripts, revising, and hopefully breaking some more stories. I'd love to get cracking on the big SG-1 mid-season quest two-parter or the time travel, What If?, story we briefly discussed (hopefully, no producer's head will explode this time, unlike the time we broke Moebius I and II)." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 2 Blog.
[...] Yesterday Today and Tomorrow is a time travel story (x2) that I've wanted to do since last year." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, November 13.
