===Features Summary===
In the episode, 6.11 "Prometheus", Maj. Samantha Carter told the television news crew led by Julia Donovan, "All the key systems were reverse engineered from a ship that crashed 100 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska in 1978. It was only in the last few years that our technology evolved to a point where we could take advantage of what we had."

* '''Names and Designations:''' X-303, ''Prometheus'', BC-303
The truth of this statement was questioned by Jonas Quinn and Carter said that "Fairbanks" sounded better than "Roswell". Carter also implied that the ship which was found in Fairbanks was of Asgard design.
* '''Technology:''' ''Prometheus'' is a hybrid spaceship which uses the technology of Earth, the Goa'uld, and the Asgard.
* '''Battle Complement:''' The ''Prometheus'' is designed to carry eight (8) F-302 space fighter jets (6.17 "Disclosure").
* '''Boarding and Unboarding Mechanisms:''' The crew may board the ship through cabin doors (6.11 "Prometheus", 6.12 "Unnatural Selection", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"), a ring transporter (6.20 "Memento", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"), or Asgard beaming technology (8.08 "Covenant", 8.10 "Endgame"). There are also a set of escape pods (7.13 "Grace").
* '''Communications:''' Multiple-frequency transmissions with language translation (English, Goa'uld, 8.02 "New Order Part 2").
* '''Compartments:''' Bridge; kitchen, cafeteria, and pantry (7.13 "Grace", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"); brig (8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"); engine room (7.13 "Grace", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"); cargo bay large enough to hold a standing stargate (8.10 "Endgame"); crew quarters; infirmary (7.13 "Grace").
* '''Crew:''' The size of the crew varies based on the mission. There are usually at least three officers on the bridge: the commander, the second commander, and the navigator. During battles, there is also a weapons officer present on the bridge.
* '''Flight Capabilities:''' The ''Prometheus'' sits in a subterranian bay in Nevada where it was assembled and is maintained (6.11 "Prometheus", 7.22 "Lost City Part 2", 8.10 "Endgame"). It has the ability to hover close to the ground (7.22 "Lost City Part 2") and also has landing gear (legs) to actually rest on the ground (6.12 "Unnatural Selection", 6.20 "Memento", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound"). Most of the time, the ship is acting as the first line of planetary defense by orbiting the Earth (8.02 "New Order Part 2"). The ship is able to cover great distances quickly through hyperspace windows (6.11 "Prometheus", 6.20 "Memento", 7.13 "Grace", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound").
* '''Hull:'''
* '''Hyperdrive:''' First powered by the powerful, but highly unstable, mineral called naquadria (6.20 "Memento"), but then new hyperdrive technology was installed by the Asgard (8.08 "Covenant", 8.10 "Endgame", 8.11 "Gemini", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound").
* '''Sensors and Scanners:'''
* '''Shields:''' The Asgard installed their shield technology as a thank you for helping them in the war against the Replicators (6.12 "Unnatural Selection", 6.17 "Disclosure")
* '''Weapons:''' The Asgard installed energy weapons technology as a thank you for helping them in the war against the Replicators (6.12 "Unnatural Selection", 6.17 "Disclosure").

===6.11 "Prometheus"===
Carter gave this story about the ''Prometheus'' to the news crew with the knowledge that the Air Force intended to destroy the taped footage of the tour. The news crew was under the impression that the footage would be kept by the government until it was deemed appropriate to reveal the existence of the spacecraft, giving Donovan the exclusive. The SGC was in effect operating a double cross in order to find the identity of Donovan's source.

Part of Carter's explanation about the ''Prometheus'' was true. She stated that it was the third in a series of designs that incorporates both human and alien technology. Major Paul Davis, when disclosing the Stargate Program to ambassadors of China, Great Britain, and France, stated the same thing. The X-303 was the third in the series, following the development of the X-301 and X-302 fighter spacecraft (6.17 "Disclosure").

Up until this point, the alien technology only included that of the Goa'uld, but since then, the Asgard have added some of their technology as thank you gifts for helping them in the war with the Replicators (6.17 "Disclosure", 8.10 "Endgame", 8.11 "Gemini", 8.12 "Prometheus Unbound").

A brief mention was made of the ''Prometheus'' in this episode. Carter told Daniel that tests of the newly-installed Asgard hyperdrive had been successful and that the ship was being prepared to go on a rescue mission to the Pegasus Galaxy to determine the fate of the Atlantis Expedition. The crew was still being picked out, but Jack would not permit SG-1 (Daniel, Carter, and Teal'c) to go as a team, his words basically being, "Over my dead body." Daniel, however, wanted to go, after having made the discovery and given up his chance to go with the original team. Carter told him that she wouldn't have a problem with just him going, because, after all, he was the world's expert on the Ancients.

Lt. Gen. Hammond hand-picked his crew to go on the rescue mission to the Pegasus Galaxy. He chose Col. Reynolds and the rest of SG-3, Sgt. Walter Harriman, Dr. Lindsay Novak, and Dr. Daniel Jackson. Gen. Hammond selected himself to lead the mission because he was tired of sending people out and not knowing what happened to them. While en route, they picked up a distress call from a human onboard a Goa'uld Al'kesh. They decided to answer the call and were hijacked by Vala, a woman of mystery who showed signs of mental instability, but this behavior could have been feigned. She was able to incapacitate all of the crew and transport them to her crippled ship in her attempt to steal the ''Prometheus'' as a trade for weapons grade naquadah. She emptied the entire ship of all its personnel except for Daniel Jackson.

Various ship capabilities were discussed and demonstrated during this episode.

Summary

The Prometheus is a space-worthy battle ship created by the Air Force using Earth and alien technology. It was developed under the designation X-303, named the Prometheus after its maiden flight (6.11 "Prometheus"), and given the upgraded designation of BC-303 after it proved its capabilities (7.07 "Enemy Mine").
