I mean, we do our funny episodes. We do our serious episodes, the off world episodes, the ship based episode. I just realized that we’ve never really done a horror episode.”

“Whispers” isn’t just another horror story, though; it is wrapped in Stargate Atlantis mythology as Sheppard, Beckett, and an all-female off-world team explore a lab that Michael has left behind. This lab is full of Michael’s early research into his human-iratus hybrids … and the hybrids themselves held in stasis—that is, until someone lets them loose … in the abandoned village … in the fog…

“As a fan of horror, Mallozzi continued, “personally, I always find that what’s scarier is what you don’t see as opposed to what you do see. And so that’s kind of what we were playing with—kind of the hidden.

“We use a lot of fog elements in this particular episode so there’s a lot of figures in the fog and there’s a lot of—I like to call them sort of pure, kind of like jump sequences where it’s sort of classic horror movie style—something jumps out at you and I think there are like a good dozen of those instances in this particular episode and Will Waring, our director, does a terrific job. And from what I’ve seen of the director’s cut, it’s going to be a lot of fun. And I think horror fans actually will enjoy it as well.”

Tune in tonight at 10pm on the Sci Fi Channel … and make sure you’ve got your buddy watching your six!

Preview Videos – Beware of Spoilers! –

MGM: Whispers

Sci Fi: Whispers

Solutions Coverage –

Episode Guide (spoilers)

On-Site Forum Poll and Discussion Thread

Live Journal

[Image from MGM Official Stargate website.]

“I’ve always been a big fan of horror,” executive producer and writer Joseph Mallozzi said in a phone interview about his script and tonight’s episode, “Whispers”, “and one of the great things about Stargate is that we can do such a variety of different types of stories.
