{"id":4032,"date":"2009-07-14T08:03:12","date_gmt":"2009-07-14T16:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stargate-sg1-solutions.com\/blog\/?p=4032"},"modified":"2010-03-04T17:43:55","modified_gmt":"2010-03-05T01:43:55","slug":"stargate-black-win-constellation-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stargate-sg1-solutions.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/stargate-black-win-constellation-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Stargate, Black Win Constellation Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations are in order for <em>Stargate SG-1<\/em>&#8216;s Claudia Black and the <em>Stargate<\/em> franchise as a whole as they took home Constellation Awards this past weekend!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a portion of the press release:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>TORONTO, ONTARIO&#8211;(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwire.com\/press-release\/The-Constellation-Awards-1016474.html\">Marketwire<\/a> &#8211; July 14, 2009) &#8211; The winners of the 2009 Constellation Awards, honouring the actors and producers behind Canada&#8217;s favourite science fiction TV series and movies, were announced this weekend at ceremonies held at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Most of all, I thank you, the fans!&#8221; declared Ontario-born actor Michael Hogan as he accepted the trophy for &#8220;Best Male Performance in a 2008 Science Fiction Television Episode&#8221; for his role as Colonel Tigh in &#8220;Battlestar Galactica&#8221;. This highly competitive category also included nominees from &#8220;Stargate Atlantis&#8221;, &#8220;Fringe&#8221;, &#8220;Supernatural&#8221;, and &#8220;Sanctuary&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The sentiment was echoed by actress Claudia Black as she accepted the trophy for &#8220;Best Female Performance in a 2008 Science Fiction Film&#8221; for her role in &#8220;Stargate: Continuum&#8221;. &#8220;To all who voted, I would like to say thank you very much,&#8221; she noted, acknowledging that all award winners were selected by popular vote. The Stargate franchise also picked up the most prestigious award of the night, &#8220;Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2008&#8221; which was accepted at the ceremonies by Canadian actors David and Kate Hewlett from &#8220;Stargate Atlantis&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The most competitive category of the evening was the award for &#8220;Best Male Performance in a 2008 Science Fiction Film&#8221;, where Robert Downey Jr.&#8217;s performance in &#8220;Iron Man&#8221; nudged out Heath Ledger, Neil Patrick Harris, Richard Dean Anderson and Ron Perlman for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Disney\/Pixar&#8217;s &#8220;Wall-E&#8221; was another multiple winner, picking up the awards for &#8220;Best Technical Accomplishment in a 2008 Science Fiction Film or Television Production&#8221; and &#8220;Best Science Fiction Film of 2008&#8221;.
