With the fancy kits and Air<\/a> premiere screeners in the hands of press members, anticipation is building for the Stargate Universe<\/a> <\/em>series premiere, now less than a month away. So far, the reviews have been positive. TV Guide<\/em> lists SGU as #10 on its Top 10 Anticipated New Fall Shows<\/a>.\u00a0 The list is based on a survey of the magazine’s “TV Team” research members. SGU is the only show listed that isn’t on one of the main broadcast networks.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco Examiner<\/em> lists SGU as number 3 on its top 10 list<\/a>, saying: “This skeptic did not intend to give the third \u201cStargate\u201d series in 12 years a chance last spring, but the trailers SyFy craftily released over the summer won me over.”<\/p>\n

The most detailed review of the 3-hour Air we’ve heard of so far is here at MediaPundit.net<\/a>.\u00a0 The review emphasizes how different SGU is from previous Stargate series. From the review:<\/p>\n

Stargate Universe is a lot of things, but upbeat is not one of them.<\/p>\n

Think of your typical medical drama, and then think of House. Characters with flaws is what real drama is all about, and this show is full of people with flaws.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The review also claims the comedic moments of the previous series are gone, but to be fair, this is based only on the premiere.<\/p>\n
