Spoiler Summary
The whales of Lantia's oceans congretate around the city and their whalesong creates adverse effects on the Expedition members. When various members of the Expedition start to see ghostly images of Ancients, they are asked to speak with the city's psychiatrist. But, McKay has a theory that the whales are attempting to communicate and that they are trying to warn the city of an impending disaster.
