SciFi Channel Showing Mini-Marathons

More chances to catch up with the current season

The SciFi Channel will re-start Season Nine episodes of Stargate SG-1 this Friday, November 4, with a three-hour mini-marathon. Instead of SciFi Friday’s regular schedule of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica, viewers will get three episodes of SG-1 and three episodes of Atlantis over the next few weeks. Battlestar Galactica will not return to the SciFi Channel until January 2006.

This is the schedule for the mini-marathons (repeats starting at 11pm):

November 4: Stargate SG-1

8pm: 9.01 “Avalon Part 1”
9pm: 9.02 “Avalon Part 2”
10pm: 9.03 “Origin Part 3”

November 11: Stargate Atlantis

8pm: 2.06 “Trinity”
9pm: 2.07 “Instinct”
10pm: 2.08 “Conversion”

November 18: Stargate SG-1

8pm: 9.06 “Beachhead”
9pm: 9.07 “Ex Deus Machina”
10pm: 9.08 “Babylon”

On December 2 at 6:30pm, the SciFi Channel will show the Stargate movie starring James Spader as Dr. Daniel Jackson and Kurt Russell as Col. Jack O’Neil. SciFi Fridays will return on December 9 and 16 and feature Season Nine episodes of SG-1, Season Two episodes of Atlantis, and Season Two episodes of Ghost Hunters (in Battlestar Galactica‘s regular timeslot). Currently, SciFi’s schedule doesn’t name which episodes will be aired on those two days.

S9 Spoilers: "Crusade" Casting

Michael IronsidePopular actor Michael Ironside was cast to play in Season Nine’s upcoming episode, “Crusade”, written, directed, and produced by Robert C. Cooper.

Ironside has been in a huge number of projects, some of the most popular playing against Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall, as Ham Tyler in the sci-fi series V, and as Darryl Revok in Scanners. One of his more recent television appearances was in the recurring role of General Sam Lane in Smallville in 2004.

Ironside will be seen in Season Nine’s penultimate episode portraying the character Seevis, a local barkeep in the village to which Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black) was transported in the episode “Beachhead”. This village is on a planet in the Ori’s home galaxy, and the people are simple villagers who are taking part in the Ori’s plan to build and man spaceships destined for a massive invasion of the Milky Way Galaxy. Seevis is a powerful man who runs the village, but is also the leader of an anti-Ori movement which aims to destroy these ships, with their armies onboard, before they ever leave the galaxy. Vala believes his plan to cause the ships to explode upon activation by the Priors will work, but is taken aback by his attitude that eliminating the worshippers is the way to end the Ori’s oppression. Seevis tests Vala’s position through torture, but eventually takes her into his trust. He shows her the Ancient communications terminal which helps her contact the SGC through Daniel’s body.

“Crusade” was before the cameras in the last part of September and is currently in post-production. It will be aired in March 2006.

SPACE Channel Gears Up for Season Nine

Season Nine Premieres November 10

Starting the build-up to the Season Nine premiere of Stargate SG-1 on Canada’s SPACE Channel, CHUM has placed a clip of an on-set interview with Michael Shanks on their website. Shanks enthusiastically relates how Season Eight was supposed to wrap up the SG-1 story and Season Nine was originally designed to be a spin-off named Stargate Command. Shanks adds, “But, things changed. We decided to do a Season Nine of SG-1 and it’s very different, and obviously we’ve had some cast changes. And in the first few episodes it seemed like a completely different show, but it’s still good ol’ Stargate with tongue firmly planted in cheek, and we’re off to save the universe.”

NOTE: The clip was made while on-set, so there most definitely is some spoilery content. Viewer beware!

Sky One Shows New SG-1 Opening Credits

Sky One viewers were given a treat during the airing of Season Nine’s second episode, “Avalon Part 2”: The new one-minute opening credits! Here are some screencaps of each actor’s credit:

The members of the BC Film Industry, MPPIA, Stargate and Bridge Studios have all joined forces to bring the Lower Mainland a truly terrifying Halloween Haunt.

Come to Bridge Studios and take a guided tour of Stargate’s terrifying and some might say haunted Medieval Village. Join us on a journey back to a medieval time where witches, zombies and creatures far beyond your darkest nightmares gather to celebrate the onset of Halloween. But beware; their idea of a celebration may not be what you think.

Proceed to the online ticket purchase, but choose your time carefully, because you never know when the film façade may turn real.

WARNING: This haunt has been designed to frighten. It is strongly advised that children ages six and up accompany and take care of their adults to keep them safe, sound and reminded that it isn’t real…it isn’t real…it isn’t real.

The First Annual Halloween Haunt will be put on entirely by industry professionals that have graciously volunteered their time, (even while in full scale production). The idea is to give back to the community that allows productions to park trucks in front of their homes and stores; shine massive lights into their bedrooms and inconvenience their daily routines almost weekly. The best part about this event is that all proceeds will benefit the B.C. Children’s Hospital!

    MGM to Replace Cut "Threads"

    MGM to replace disks in R1 S8 Boxed Set

    Consumer complaints concerning the edited, syndication version of “Threads” instead of the original broadcast version being placed on the recently released Season Eight DVD Boxed Set for Region 1 (United States, Canada) have reached the ears of MGM. TVShowsOnDVD.com issued this statement at their website:

    We had a number of Stargate SG-1 fans tell us that the original episode of “Threads” that ran for 90 minutes wasn’t included in the season 8 DVD set; it was the edited 60 min version. We contacted MGM and asked them about the episode and they sent over this response:

    Thank you for purchasing Stargate Sg-1 Season 8 Giftset. We will be making the original broadcast version of the episode “Threads” available soon. If you would prefer that version, we will be offering an exchange and will notify you details of this exchange soon. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

    It’s nice to see a studio address a problem with a set so quickly. We’ll keep you updated on the exchange program when we get more information from MGM.

    Camelot is the Season Nine Finale and Cliffhanger

    In his recent GateWorld Blog entry, executive producer and writer Joseph Mallozzi made a few casting announcements for Season Nine’s finale, “Camelot”, which recently completed filming (October 6), “The director’s cut of Camelot will soon follow. […] John Noble (aka Denethor from Lord of the Rings) and Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps) guest star.”

    John NobleJohn Noble, as mentioned by Mallozzi, played Denethor in the Lord of the Rings saga, and has announced on his website that he will be playing Meurik, the village of Camelot’s governor. Meurik is courteous, intelligent, and strong, but dismisses the threat of the Ori. He strongly believes that King Arthur will return to his throne after finding the “sangraal” (Holy Grail). He becomes furious with Daniel and Mitchell after they disobey his orders and gain access to Merlin’s library and release the Black Knight. After Mitchell impresses him with apparently vanquishing the Black Knight, Meurik offers Daniel and Mitchell his village’s hospitality until Arthur returns with the sangraal.

    Katharine IsabelleKatharine Isabelle started as a child actor and played Ginger in the Ginger Snaps movies, and recently appeared as Yarrow in SCI FI’s miniseries Legend of Earthsea. She most likely is playing the role of Valencia, a teenaged girl in the village of Camelot who knows how to use a sword, though she feels that becoming a knight is not possible for her because she is a woman. Mitchell shares some of his swordfighting experience with her and she provides him and Daniel with key information about access to Merlin’s library. Valencia also has a surprising destiny of her own tied to the legend of King Arthur’s return.

    The Boston.com reviewers had this to say about Stargate SG-1: “‘Stargate SG-1’ is also part of Sci-Fi Channel’s Friday night lineup. The show follows a secret miltary unit that travels across the universe via a Star Gate, a device created by ancients. A great show with a solid cast.” They have the original cast pictured.

    For Stargate Atlantis: “‘Stargate Atlantis’ is a spinoff of Sci-Fi Channel’s original ‘Stargate SG-1′ series and is part of the current Friday night lineup on the channel. When a Stargate portal is found in the ancients’ city of Atlantis (beneath Antarctica) a team is formed to explore it. As they use the Stargate to travel to the Pegasus Galaxy, they encounter an evil enemy called The Wraith, who threatens human existence.” They have a picture of Teyla only for this article.
