Ascended Beings exist as a form of energy in a higher plane than the one in which corporeal beings exist. They can shape themselves into a form familiar with those with whom they interact, much like Daniel Jackson did for his friend Jack O'Neill in the episode, 6.06 "Abyss". There are several groups of Ascended Beings, the largest two being The Others and the Ori. Ascended Beings are introduced in the episode, 3.20 "Maternal Instinct".
