TEASER

INT—CABIN, BEDROOM

[TJ wakes up in bed, looking around confused. She sits up, pulls aside the curtain to look through the window and sees a snow-covered forested landscape. She has a sudden realization and grabs her stomach, which is flat. She looks around and hears a baby murmuring. She goes to the baby and takes it from its crib. As she's standing there holding it, she hears a voice behind her.]

CAINE
Beautiful, isn't she?

[TJ looks up to see Caine standing by the door.]

TJ
Caine?

CAINE
It's good to see you again, TJ.

TJ

(confused)

What…what is this? Where am I? How did I get here?

CAINE
I know it's a lot to process right now, so just take your time. Okay?

TJ
But we left you on that planet, and we left the galaxy.

CAINE
Can't be surprised that aliens who built a solar system are capable of a little, uh, intergalactic transport.

TJ
Are you saying they brought me here?

CAINE
Well, you're here, right?

TJ

(smiling and looking down at the baby in her arms)

So this is…

CAINE
Your baby, of course. You don't have to worry any more, TJ. She's safe now.

[TJ looks up with an expression of deep concern on her face.]

OPENING CREDITS

EXT—DESTINY MOTIONLESS IN SPACE

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli is running along the corridor. He arrives at the airlock and opens it, but there is nobody inside. He slumps down, defeated.]

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Brody and Rush are sitting at control panels.]

BRODY
We're getting a message. It's Eli.

[The message appears on the control panel screen.]

BRODY
They didn't make it.

[Rush walks over and looks at the screen.]

RUSH

(sadly)

There just wasn't enough time.

[The radio sitting on Rush's console activates.]

SCOTT

(over radio)

This is Scott! Come in, please!

[Rush answers, surprised.]

RUSH

(into radio)

Lieutenant, where are you?

EXT—DESTINY

[Scott and Greer are standing on the exterior hull of the ship.]

SCOTT
Well, we're still outside. I had a hunch we weren't going to make it to the airlock in time, so we made a beeline for the underside of the ship.

[The shot pans out to reveal Scott and Greer standing upside down underneath the ship.]

SCOTT
I'm guessing the hull protected us.

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

RUSH

(into radio, relieved)

I guess it did. Well, the radiation spike is passed. You should be safe to make it to the airlock now.

SCOTT

(over radio)

Roger that. We're on our way.

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli is still sitting by the airlock. The console activates; he goes over to it and a message appears.]

ELI

(sighing and laughing)

Just another day in outer space.

[Eli reactivates the airlock.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Varro is walking along the corridor. He comes to the mess, where Dannic and a number of other Lucian Alliance members are holding the Destiny military personnel.]

VARRO
Dannic!

DANNIC
The military personnel are a liability.

VARRO
Kiva's still alive. The medic's been injured. She was shot.

[Young looks up, concerned.]

DANNIC
She was military as well. It was a mistake to trust her.

[Young throws a punch at Dannic, hitting him in the throat. Young throws Dannic to the floor and is trying to choke him, as several Lucian Alliance members struggle to drag him off. They hold him as he struggles.]

YOUNG
Son of a…son of a…

[Dannic gets to his feet and rushes at Young.]

DANNIC
I want him dead!

YOUNG
Get off me!

[Varro grabs Dannic and pushes him back away from Young.]

VARRO
Listen to me! Listen to me!

[Varro pushes Dannic out into the corridor, holding him until he calms down.]

VARRO
We need their cooperation! We can use the communication stones to get a team of doctors on board.

DANNIC

(furious)

We can't spare the men.

VARRO
We can use some of them. It doesn't matter what they report back. There's nothing anyone on Earth can do about this.

[Young is struggling against the Lucian Alliance members holding him.]

DANNIC

(angrily)

All right. But if Kiva dies, they all die.

[Dannic walks away, and Varro turns to look at Young.]

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli is standing by the airlock, anxiously waiting for it to be ready to open. As soon as the light comes on, he opens it. Scott and Greer are inside.]

ELI

(laughing)

Oh, oh, thank God. I thought you two were fried for sure.

SCOTT
Oh, we're fine.

GREER

(removing his helmet)

I'd say we're anything but fine.

[Greer and Eli help Scott with his helmet and suit.]

SCOTT
Oh, you'd rather be back out there?

[Chloe walks into the airlock area.]

CHLOE
Eli?

[Eli looks around in surprise and comes over to her.]

ELI
Chloe?

[Scott and Greer emerge from the airlock.]

SCOTT
Hey, what happened?

ELI
She was shot in the leg.

CHLOE
I'm okay. I'm okay.

ELI
How are you even walking right now? Ten minutes ago, you were almost passed out.

CHLOE
I don't know. The bleeding stopped; I got my strength back.

GREER
You what?

[Eli removes the tourniquet from Chloe's leg and checks the wound as Scott and Greer look on.]

ELI
She's right. The bleeding's stopped!

SCOTT
Are you sure you're okay?

CHLOE
Yeah, I'm fine.

GREER
Everybody's fine.

CHLOE
So? What do we do now?

INT—STONE ROOM

[Varro looks on as Wray, Volker, Kemp and Ryder place their stones on the box.]

VARRO
Who are you?

[The Destiny crew members have been replaced by other people.]

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
Um… I'm Doctor Brightman, this is Doctor Siegler, Doctor Finch and Doctor Tyman.

VARRO
All right, follow me.

[The four Earth doctors follow Varro from the stone room.]

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Rush is operating the console. There is a beeping sound.]

BRODY
What now?

[Rush looks up at the countdown clock as it reactivates.]

RUSH
Well, it looks like it's working.

[Brody gets up from his console and comes over to Rush.]

BRODY
What are you talking about?

[Rush points up.]

BRODY
The countdown clock?

RUSH
With all the shield's strength concentrated in the direction of the pulsar, the engines are protected enough to generate an FTL jump.

BRODY
Yeah, but that's a good thing, right? I mean, this whole area of space is a dead-zone. The sooner we get out of here, the better.

[Brody returns to his console, leaving Rush looking concerned at his display and the countdown clock.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[A door opens; Greer looks around carefully, then Scott, Eli and Chloe follow him out.]

SCOTT

All right, we're close enough.
(to Eli and Chloe)

You two meet up with Rush and Brody.

ELI
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute, wait a minute.

SCOTT
They've figured out who's missing by now; they will be looking, so be careful.

CHLOE
Where are you going?

SCOTT
Recon. We need to find out what's happening.

ELI
Scott…

SCOTT

(firmly)

Eli, just go.

[Eli and Chloe go down one corridor, Scott and Greer go down another.]

INT—INFIRMARY

[Telford is being carried into the infirmary on a stretcher, unconscious and heavily bandaged around his torso.]

DOCTOR
Yeah, I need some help over here.

[Varro is surveying the scene. He turns to Brightman.]

VARRO
Is he going to make it?

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
Yeah, he'll be fine. The bullet passed clean through.

VARRO
Let me know when he wakes up. I want to talk to him.

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
Listen, your commander wasn't so lucky. Doctor Finch is working on her right now, but it isn't looking good. We think the bullet may have lodged in her liver.

VARRO
It would be in everyone's best interest if she survived.

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
Yeah, I get that!

VARRO
What about Lieutenant Johansen?

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
Well, we've managed to stem the bleeding, but the baby's heart rate is dangerously low.

[TJ is lying unconscious in a cot.]

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
We may have to take it out prematurely. Right now there's no guarantee that either one of them will survive. Excuse me.

[Brightman walks away, leaving Varro looking worriedly at TJ.]

INT—CABIN ON FAITH PLANET, BEDROOM

[TJ is sitting with the baby in her arms. It yawns and she smiles, then gets up and puts it in the crib. She goes through to the main room of the cabin, where Caine is waiting. The room is furnished in a rustic country style, with chairs, oil lamps and a wood stove.]

CAINE
How about some coffee?

TJ

Sure.
(looking around the room)

Where did all this stuff come from? There's no way you could have made it all.

CAINE

(adding wood to the stove)

You got that right. We were still working on lean-tos with dirt floors and the winter was coming. Frankly, I was getting a bit worried. And then one day, on a scout, we found them. Half a dozen just like this, scattered over the valley.

TJ
We did an aerial survey. We would have seen them.

CAINE

(nodding)

I know.

TJ
So, they just appeared, out of nowhere, and that's good enough for you?

CAINE
Well, I don't think we would have survived the winter without them, and that's good enough for me.

[Caine sits down and pours the coffee.]

TJ
So, why did they bring me here?

CAINE
The ship was under attack, right?

[TJ sits on a chair opposite him.]

TJ
How did you know that?

CAINE
You were wounded.

TJ
A lot of people were wounded. Why would I be singled out?

CAINE
They were scanning us the minute we set foot on this planet. They knew everything there is to know about us. They knew you were pregnant.

TJ
What are you saying?

CAINE
You were bleeding out on the table. This was the only way, or your baby would have died.

[TJ turns to look towards the room where her baby lies sleeping.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Ginn is working at a console and there are a few other Lucian Alliance members around the room. Varro enters.]

VARRO
Report.

GINN
The countdown clock has started again. It's probably a result of the adjustments made to the shield.

VARRO
How long until we jump?

GINN
Just under thirty minutes.

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY

(over radio)

Varro, this is Doctor Brightman.

[Varro picks up the radio from the console.]

VARRO

(into radio)

Go ahead.

INT—INFIRMARY

[Medics are removing equipment from a body lying on a surgical table. Brightman/Wray is standing by the body removing her gloves, speaking into a radio held by a Lucian Alliance member.]

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY
I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but we did all we could. It just wasn't enough.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

BRIGHTMAN/WRAY

(over radio)

Your commander is dead.

[Varro and Ginn glance in each other's direction.]

INT—CORRIDOR

Greer and Scott are making their way quietly along the corridors, ducking out of sight of a Lucian Alliance patrol.]

GREER
We need weapons.

SCOTT
There's something else we need even more.

[They continue along the corridor in the same direction the patrol went.]

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Rush and Brody are at their consoles. They look up when they hear the door opening. They exchange glances and Brody goes to investigate. The door is around the corner and when Brody peers around, he comes face to face with Eli. They are both equally startled.]

BRODY
You guys are back!

ELI
You know, this ship is really, really, really big.

BRODY

(pointing to the blood on Chloe's clothing)

Whoa! What's that? What happened?

CHLOE
Oh, nothing we need to worry about right now. What are we doing to get the ship back?

[Brody smirks.]

ELI
What?

BRODY

(gesturing towards Rush)

It's his idea.

RUSH
Colonel Telford's efforts to divert control were not entirely in vain. We still have a limited ability to manipulate power distribution, so I've begun a slow process of sequestering power away from the shields.

ELI

(turning to look at Brody, incredulous)

The same shields that are protecting us from the deadly pulsar radiation?

RUSH
That's right.

BRODY
Like I said, his idea.

RUSH
Well, if I don't do it, the ship's going to jump.

ELI
Uh, good!

RUSH
No, no, no, no, no Eli. You don't understand. You see, that pulsar levels the playing field. It's just as deadly to them as it is to us. Once they realize what's happening, they'll have no option but to deal.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Dannic is pacing angrily.]

DANNIC
We need to kill them all!

VARRO
The original plan was to keep some of the scientists and drop the rest on a habitable planet.

SIMEON
The original plan didn't involved Kiva being killed.

VARRO
I admit it may have been optimistic to expect any of them to work with us, but going on a bloody rampage now isn't going to solve anything.

SIMEON
You got another idea?

[Varro looks over to Ginn, who is still at the console.]

VARRO
Tell him.

GINN
We found one address we can dial from this position. It's currently locked out, probably because it's at the extreme range of the gate, but I can get around that.

VARRO
We check it out, if it's viable, we send them. Everyone except the doctors. They're still working on some of our men.

[Varro steps away and pauses.]

VARRO
And Lieutenant Johansen.

[Simeon looks at him.]

VARRO
She could prove to be useful down the road, and moving her now would be as good as killing her.

SIMEON
How about Rush and the others that are still missing?

INT—CORRIDOR

[Scott and Greer are watching the scene in the control room on a kino remote.]

VARRO

(on remote)

The search parties will find them.

[Scott switches off the remote.]

SCOTT
We've got to tell the others.

GREER
Yeah.

[They move out of the spot where they were hiding and head off.]

EXT—CABIN ON FAITH PLANET, LOOKING IN THROUGH WINDOW

TJ
You never did answer my question. How do you know what's happening on the ship?

INT—CABIN ON FAITH PLANET, MAIN ROOM

CAINE
I just do. It's kind of hard to explain.

TJ
The aliens told you?

CAINE
Well, not face-to-face.

[There is a knock at the door. Caine goes to answer it.

CAINE
Hi. Come on in.

DANA
Hi.

PETER
Hey.

DANA
Ooh, it's getting cold out there!

CAINE
Right.

TJ
Dana? Peter?

DANA
TJ! Oh my God! It's good to see you! How are you?

[Dana goes over and gives TJ a hug.]

TJ
I'm fine. I'm fine. How are you? How are all of you?

PETER
We're good, TJ. We're good. We're surviving.

CAINE
Yeah, the others will be along soon. Word's getting around.

DANA
We were hoping we could see the baby.

TJ
Sure… yeah… she's… she's sleeping…

DANA
Don't worry, we'll be really quiet.

[Dana and Peter squeeze each other's arms, exchange smiles and go excitedly to the bedroom.]

CAINE
It's big news around here. You want to take a walk?

TJ
It's getting kind of dark, isn't it?

CAINE
It'll be fine. They can look after the baby. There's something I want to show you.

INT—INFIRMARY RECOVERY AREA

[Telford regains consciousness, lying on a bunk by the wall. It takes a moment for his eyes to adjust, then he sees Simeon is standing in front of him.]

SIMEON
He's back.

TELFORD
Simeon.

[Telford looks around, sees another unconscious man on a cot and tries to sit up.]

SIMEON
Hurts, doesn't it?

[Telford nods and rests on his elbow.]

TELFORD
What happened?

SIMEON
I was hoping you could tell me.

[Telford looks at his blood-stained bandage.]

TELFORD
Where's Kiva?

SIMEON
Dead.

[A look of shock appears on Telford's face.]

SIMEON
She was shot, just like you. But we're a little unclear on the details.

TELFORD
We were in the gate room. We were attacked. They came out of nowhere.

SIMEON
"They"? There was more than one?

TELFORD
I'm not sure.

SIMEON
Did you see them?

TELFORD
No.

SIMEON
Interesting. Because you weren't shot from behind.

TELFORD
It was dark. It happened fast. I saw Kiva get shot, I turned; everything went black.

[Simeon just stares at Telford, who looks around the room.]

TELFORD
What's going on with the ship? What's the situation?

SIMEON
The ship is ours. The shields are repaired. It's over.

TELFORD
What about Colonel Young and his crew?

SIMEON
We won't have to worry about them too much longer.

[Simeon walks away, leaving Telford lying on the bunk.]

INT—YOUNG'S QUARTERS

[Varro is standing in front of Young, who is sitting.]

VARRO
We've found a planet with a breathable atmosphere. We're putting you and your people off the ship.

YOUNG
There is no way you have had enough time to determine long-term viability.

VARRO
There's not a lot of options here.

YOUNG
It's a death sentence.

VARRO
Not necessarily.

[Varro sees Young looking at the gun hanging at his side.]

VARRO
Now you're thinking you've got nothing to lose. You could jump me, take my gun, kill the guard outside. But how far do you really think you'd get? You'd be shot and your people would still be sent to the planet, only without their leader. For their sake, I recommend you stay alive.

INT—GATE ROOM

[The gate is active and the Lucian Alliance are herding the Earth crew members through it. Young comes last. He stops, turns and looks around the gate room before stepping through.]

EXT—DESOLATE PLANET, DAY

[Young steps out of the wormhole. All the earth people are standing around the area in front of the gate. There is nothing but dirt and rock as far as the eye can see. As young walks past them, people are hugging themselves to get warm, and watching him pass. He approaches Riley, whose head is still covered in blood from his injury.]

YOUNG
Hey, Sergeant, how are you feeling?

RILEY
I'll be all right, Sir. Nice place.

[Distant thunder can be heard.]

JAMES
Looks like a storm's coming.

[In the distance, dark clouds are gathering, and there are flashes of lightening.]

YOUNG
Well, we need to find shelter. And fast.

[James looks at the sky and sighs heavily.]

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Eli is pacing nervously while Chloe watches one console over Brody's shoulder and Rush works at another.]

ELI
Where the hell are Scott and Greer? They should have been back by now.

RUSH
You have to calm down, Eli.

ELI
Splitting up never works. Everyone knows this.

[The sound of the door opening is heard.]

ELI

(uncertainly)

It's got to be them.

[Eli walks around the corner to the door while the others watch anxiously. Suddenly, Eli backs into the room with his hands raised.]

ELI
No, no, not them!

[Two Lucian Alliance members come in, aiming guns at the Destiny crew members.]

LUCIAN ALLIANCE MEMBER

Back away from the consoles.
(into radio)

Dannic, come in.

INT—GATE ROOM

[Dannic picks up the radio from Ginn's console.]

DANNIC

(into radio)

Go ahead.

LUCIAN ALLIANCE MEMBER

(over radio)

We've got Rush and three others.

DANNIC

(into radio)

Well done.

[The countdown clock on the wall beeps then turns itself off. Dannic turns to a confused Ginn.]

DANNIC
What happened?

[Ginn is pressing buttons on the console.]

GINN
I'm not sure. The countdown's stopped.

DANNIC
Well, start it again.

[Ginn works frantically at the console.]

GINN
I can't.

DANNIC

(into radio)

Stand by.

[Dannic walks over to where Ginn is working.]

GINN
The radiation must be affecting the engines again.

DANNIC
You said the shield would prevent that.

GINN
It should. I don't understand it.

DANNIC
Then what good are you?

[Ginn looks up at Dannic, who grabs her by the throat. Varro walks in.]

VARRO
Dannic! Dannic!

[Ginn is gasping for air as Dannic squeezes her throat. He looks at Varro then throws Ginn across the floor.]

DANNIC

(into radio)

Bring Rush to the gate room. I have some questions for him.

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

LUCIAN ALLIANCE MEMBER

(into radio)

What about the others?

DANNIC

(over radio)

Kill them.

[The two Lucian Alliance members raise their guns and point them at the Destiny crew members standing in front of them.]

RUSH
You don't want to kill anyone.

[Suddenly, Scott and Greer rush into the room, flooring the Lucian Alliance members. A few shots are fired in the struggle, but they don't hit anyone. Scott knocks one man to the ground and aims a gun at him, while Greer chokes the other. When both are incapacitated, Rush picks up their radio from the floor.]

SCOTT
You okay, you okay?

RUSH

(into radio)

Dannic, this is Rush.

INT—GATE ROOM

[Varro gets up from the floor where he has been tending to Ginn. Dannic is holding the radio, listening.]

RUSH

(over radio)

I'm sorry to say, your men were unable to carry out their orders.

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Greer is disarming the Lucian Alliance men.]

RUSH

(into radio)

Anyway, by now you'll have noticed that the countdown has stopped.

INT—GATE ROOM

[Dannic looks up at the countdown clock.]

RUSH

(over radio)

That's because I've been draining power from the shields, and I will continue to do so…

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

RUSH

(into radio)

…until your men lay down their weapons.

INT—GATE ROOM

DANNIC

(into radio)

You and your people will die with the rest of us.

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

RUSH

(into radio)

We're willing to die to prevent you taking over this ship. Can you say the same?

INT—GATE ROOM

[Dannic throws the radio in anger.]

DANNIC

(to Simeon)

Find them!

[Simeon starts towards the door while Varro approaches Dannic.]

VARRO
Dannic, listen to me.

[Dannic raises his gun and aims it at Varro.]

VARRO
Don't do this.

DANNIC

This is your fault. If you had listened to me from the beginning, we wouldn't be in this position.
(to another Lucian Alliance member)

Take his weapon.

[The man takes Varro's gun, and Dannic steps back to address the room.]

DANNIC
There can only be one commander, and Kiva's dead. Any objections?

[Nobody moves against Dannic.]

INT—AUXILIARY CONTROL ROOM

[Scott and Greer are tying up the unconscious Lucian Alliance members.]

ELI
What do we know about the planet?

SCOTT
Not much. Presumably, it has a breathable atmosphere. Other than that…

CHLOE
We have to do something.

GREER
I am in.

RUSH
No, no, this is perfect. It couldn't have worked out better.

GREER
They're going to be stranded down there.

RUSH
No, no, the ship won't jump. We can pick them back up later. Plus, the planet is out of range of the pulsar. Believe me, they're better off.

ELI
What does that say for the rest of us?

BRODY
Well, we've done some calculations. Certain areas of the ship are better protected than others because of their location within the hull. Hydroponics, for one. We go there, seal ourselves in, we might be able to outlast them.

ELI
What about the damage to the ship itself? Without the shields, the-the next pulsar blast is…

RUSH
The damage will be minimal. Organic matter will suffer the most.

SCOTT
Wait a minute. Not everyone's been sent off the ship. They mentioned something about TJ. It sounded like she'd been injured. And something about doctors.

BRODY
They might have used some of our people to get extra medical personnel on board with the stones.

CHLOE
Well, we can't just leave them out there. Not if we're going to go through with this.

SCOTT
All right, Greer and I will go get them.

[Scott and Greer gear up.]

SCOTT
Give us fifteen minutes to meet you back in hydroponics. After that, seal the door.

[Scott looks firmly at Eli as he hands him the kino remote, then he and Greer move out.]

EXT—DESOLATE PLANET, DAY

[The wind is blowing strongly as people huddle in groups, sharing blankets to keep out the cold. Young is looking on, when James calls out to him. She and some other Marines are on a ridge above.]

JAMES

(calling out)

Colonel! We found a system of small caves just over that ridge, about two klicks. Should be enough to shelter everyone if we break into smaller groups.

[There is a lightening bolt and crack of thunder from the approaching storm.]

YOUNG

(calling out)

That's good enough.

[The Stargate begins to activate. Young gestures to the group.]

YOUNG
Guys, guys, back up.

[The wormhole opens and Varro, Koz and five other Lucian Alliance members step through the Stargate. Young watches as they approach. As the wormhole closes, Varro walks over to him.]

VARRO
Dannic's taken control. These men were loyal to me.

[Young turns his back on Varro to address his own people.]

YOUNG

(shouting)

All right, people! Listen up! We're going to move out. Let's stay together. Let's go.

[There are two very close lightening strikes.]

VARRO

(shouting over the storm)

Colonel!

YOUNG
I've nothing to say to you.

VARRO

(shouting over the storm)

We're here because I stood up for you! He would have killed you all!

[Young ignores him, standing with his back to him as he watches his own people move out.]

INT—INFIRMARY

[Wray is washing her hands over a bowl. Suddenly, gunshots ring out in the corridor outside. A Lucian Alliance member backs into the infirmary as he is shot. Wray takes cover beside a cot, listening to footsteps entering the room. She looks around and sees that it's Scott and Greer. Scott approaches Wray as Greer checks the dead Lucian Alliance member then scouts the room.]

SCOTT
Wait, Camile, what are you doing here?

WRAY

(terrified)

Uh… they… they used some of us to connect with a team of doctors. Me, Volker, Kemp and… uh… and Ryder.

[Greer has found someone in a cot and looks towards Scott.]

SCOTT
Okay, where are the others?

WRAY
I don't know. Um, there… there were more injured and… anyway, they severed the connection…

GREER
Lieutenant.

[Greer gestures towards the person in the cot and Scott walks over. As he approaches, he sees that it is TJ.]

SCOTT
Wha… what happened?

WRAY
She was shot. She's going to make it.

GREER
What about the baby?

[Scott looks to Wray, but she is too upset to speak.]

SCOTT
Camile, what about the baby?

[Wray turns her face away and sits down on a cot, sobbing heavily.]

EXT—FAITH PLANET, NIGHT

[Caine and TJ are dressed in coats made of skins over their clothes, walking through the woods.]

TJ
Where are you taking me?

CAINE
Ah, it's just over here. You'll get a better view.

[They emerge from the trees and stand overlooking the lake. Glowing in the sky above the distant mountains, there is a massive, colorful nebula.]

TJ
Oh my God! It's beautiful.

CAINE
Yeah.

TJ
That wasn't here.

CAINE
No, it showed up last night, just before you did. Any idea what it means?

TJ
Not a clue.

CAINE
Listen, I wanted to thank you.

TJ
What for?

CAINE
Well, if you hadn't decided to go back with Colonel Young, he would have taken all of us. I know what a sacrifice that was. And the aliens knew. I think that's why they were willing to bring your daughter here.

[TJ looks at him with a look of confusion on her face.]

CAINE
But, um…

TJ
But what?

CAINE
Well, you made your choice.

TJ
What are you talking about?

CAINE
The baby can stay. We'll take care of her, I promise you. But you have to go back.

TJ

(shaking her head)

No.

CAINE
I'm sorry.

[TJ runs off into the woods.]

TJ
No, no, no, no!

CAINE

(calling after her)

TJ!

INT—INFIRMARY

[Scott, Greer and Wray are preparing to move TJ.]

SCOTT
Let's get her out of here.

[There are voices and footsteps in the corridor.]

VOICE
This way!

GREER
We've got company.

SCOTT

(to Wray)

Take cover.

[Greer and Scott move towards the door, readying their weapons. As they go into the corridor and round the corner, there are several Lucian Alliance members just down the adjoining corridor. A firefight ensues. Greer shoots one of the Lucian Alliance men, Scott shoots another who has come the other way behind Greer, and the men on both sides take up defensive positions.]

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Brody is using a welding torch to seal the air vents as Eli, Rush and Chloe look on.]

ELI
Is that really necessary?

[Brody stops and turns to him.]

BRODY
Well, they're going to figure out where we are sooner or later. Even if they can't get in, they can still vent the atmosphere. And don't worry, the plants are producing oxygen. We'll have enough breathable air. For a while, anyway.

RUSH

(checking a computer screen)

Now, that's fifteen minutes.

[He walks towards the door.]

CHLOE
No, you have to give them more time.

RUSH
The longer we wait, the greater the chance of being discovered.

[He closes the door.]

CHLOE
Eli!

ELI
We-we can… give them a few more minutes.

RUSH

This is our only chance. If we fail and they take the ship, we're as good as dead.
(to Brody)

Mister Brody, seal the door.

[Brody takes the welding equipment from the vent.]

ELI
The next pulsar blast will be deadly to anybody outside this room.

RUSH
That's the whole point, isn't it?

INT—CORRIDOR OUTSIDE INFIRMARY

[The firefight between Scott and Greer and the Lucian Alliance members continues. Scott looks towards to dead Lucian Alliance man on the floor of the infirmary.]

SCOTT
Damn it! Sergeant! I'm moving!

[Greer provides cover fire as Scott goes into the infirmary. He picks up the dead man's radio from the floor then takes cover by the door.]

SCOTT

(into radio)

Rush, this is Scott. Come in please.

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli quickly picks up the radio from the table.]

ELI

(into radio)

Scott, this is Eli.

INT—CORRIDOR

[Dannic, Ginn and several other Lucian Alliance members are walking along the corridor. Dannic stops when he hears the voices on the radio.]

ELI

(over radio)

Where are you?

[Dannic takes the radio from another man and listens.]

SCOT

(over radio)

We are cut off. We can't shoot our way through.

[Dannic half smiles at Ginn and continues walking.]

ELI

(over radio)

Well, we haven't sealed the door yet, there's still time.

INT—HYDROPONICS

ELI

(into radio)

Uh, we'll dial up the shields until you get back.

INT—INFIRMARY

[Wray stands by TJ's bed as gunfire is heard from the corridor outside.]

SCOTT

(into radio)

That'll just give them more time to find you. Our only chance is to stick with the plan. Seal the door!

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli is still holding the radio up to his mouth, but he is lost for words.]

RUSH
Do it.

[Brody takes his equipment to the door as Chloe watches sadly.]

INT— CABIN ON FAITH PLANET, MAIN ROOM

[Dana and Peter are sitting by the stove as TJ bursts in through the door, clearly upset.]

DANA
TJ!

TJ
What have you done with her?

DANA
We haven't done anything.

[TJ goes into the bedroom, where she finds the baby in her crib. She picks her up as Caine enters the cabin. He closes the door and goes through to the bedroom where TJ is holding the baby, tears on her face.]

TJ
I'm not leaving without her.

CAINE
It's not up to us. They can send you back whenever they want and there's nothing we can do about it. I'm so sorry. At least this way, you'll know, you'll always know, that, uh, she's being taken care of.

[Caine leaves TJ alone with the baby, who starts crying.]

EXT—DESOLATE PLANET, NIGHT

[It is raining heavily. The Lucian Alliance members are crouched by the walls of a small cave. Young enters and James stays by the mouth of the cave looking around with a flashlight.]

YOUNG
Everyone still alive in here?

VARRO
For now.

YOUNG
There's no sign the storm's letting up so get comfortable.

KOZ
How much longer can it last?

YOUNG
I don't know. You tell me. You're the one who picked this place. It could go on for days, for all we know.

VARRO
It was this or the barrel of a gun, and you know it.

[A bolt of lightening strikes the rocks directly outside the cave, knocking James onto her back in the dirt.]

YOUNG
James!

[Young and Varro go to her.]

YOUNG
Hey, James. James!

[James groans.]

YOUNG
Easy.

[She groans again.]

YOUNG
I've got you. Easy.

JAMES
That really hurt.

VARRO
I'll bet.

YOUNG
Don't move. You're going to be okay.

[James groans again and Young looks up, listening to the sound of the rain pouring down.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Dannic is leading a team along the corridor into the control room. There is a Lucian Alliance technician working at the console.]

DANNIC
Have you restored the shields yet?

LUCIAN ALLIANCE TECHNICIAN
Rush is still bleeding power from the system. We can't stop him.

[Dannic pushes the technician out of the way while Ginn goes to another console.]

GINN
It's worse than we thought.

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli is watching what is happening in the control room with the kino remote.]

GINN

(on remote)

The next radiation spike from the pulsar will collapse the shields completely.

RUSH
And now they know. They've no choice but to surrender.

[The mechanism on the door starts turning, but it doesn't open.]

BRODY
They found us.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

VOICE

(over radio)

Dannic, we've found a door we can't open. Hydroponics. It appears to be sealed from the inside.

DANNIC

(to Ginn)
We got them.
(into radio)

Get some explosives. We'll blow the door.

TELFORD
You can't do that.

[Telford is leaning against the doorway, holding his injury in pain.]

TELFORD
Any blast big enough to get you through the door will kill the people on the inside.

INT—HYDROPONICS

TELFORD

(on remote)

We need Rush to restore the shields.

GINN

(on remote)

There isn't enough time anyway.

[Rush reaches for the radio.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

GINN
The next pulsar wave is in less than five minutes.

INT—HYDROPONICS

RUSH

(into radio)

Dannic, this is Rush.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

RUSH

(over radio)

By now you know the situation. You have no choice. Lay down your weapons…

INT—HYDROPONICS

RUSH

(into radio)

…and order your people to assemble on the observation deck. Once I receive visual confirmation of your compliance, I'll dial up the shields.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

DANNIC

(into radio)

I still say you're bluffing.

RUSH

(over radio)

Our position is well protected. Even without the shields…

INT—HYDROPONICS

RUSH

(into radio)

… we'll survive the next wave. You won't.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

RUSH

(over radio)

Either way, we take the ship back.

[Dannic looks at Ginn expectantly and walks towards her.]

GINN

(nervously)

I don't know. It's possible.

TELFORD
The man is a coward. He wouldn't sacrifice himself; he's telling the truth.

DANNIC

(into radio)

You still have people out here. You'd be killing them, too.

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli and Chloe look anxiously at Rush, who hesitates before answering.]

RUSH

(into radio)

A necessary sacrifice.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

DANNIC
He won't do it.

TELFORD
Dannic!

DANNIC
Enough.

TELORD
You don't have a choice!

[Dannic turns and aims his gun at Telford.]

DANNIC

(shouting)
I said, "Enough"!
(quietly emphatic)

We're not giving up this ship.

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli and Chloe are watching the control room on the remote.]

ELI
He's not bluffing.

RUSH

(quietly)

Just wait.

ELI
He doesn't even know we're watching! This isn't an act.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Telford limps into the room from the doorway, still clutching his injury. He approaches Dannic.]

TELFORD
You can't do this. You'll kill us all.

DANNIC
We were prepared to die the moment we stepped through that 'gate.

TELFORD
You're insane.

[Dannic backhands Telford across the face, and Telford falls to the floor.]

INT—HYDROPONICS

ELI
Did you… did you just see that?! This guy is nuts! You can't reason with someone like that!

BRODY
So, what about the others? What about Scott and Greer? TJ?

[Rush looks worried.]

RUSH

(whispers)

I'm sorry.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Telford is still lying on the floor, moving with difficulty. Dannic addresses everyone in the room.]

DANNIC
Listen to me. You know why we came here. You know what this ship means. Are you really prepared to let it go, just when it's in our grasp?

TELFORD

(to Dannic)
You mean your grasp.
(to everyone)

Don't listen to him. He's crazy. He will kill all of us.

[Dannic approaches Telford and points his gun at him again.]

DANNIC
No. Just anyone who tries to get in my way.

[A shot rings out, and Telford flinches.]

INT—HYDROPONICS

[Eli and Chloe are watching on the remote.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Three more shots are fired, the bullets bursting from Dannic's abdomen. He falls to the floor. Ginn is standing behind, holding a gun.]

GINN
Telford was right. He was crazy.

[Ginn drops the gun and picks up the radio.]

GINN

(into radio)

Rush?

INT—HYDROPONICS

GINN

(over radio)

Dannic is dead. We'll comply with your demands.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Ginn looks at Telford, and he gives her a nod.]

INT—CABIN ON FAITH PLANET, BEDROOM

[TJ is sitting on the bed, holding the baby. Caine enters.]

TJ
Carmen. It's her name. After her grandmother.

[Caine sits down on the bed.]

CAINE
I know it's not perfect here, but you said yourself, it's better than that ship. I still think there's a chance they're going to help us get back home.

TJ
If they could do that, then why haven't they done it already?

CAINE
I don't know. Look, TJ, I have to warn you. No one on the ship is going to understand.

TJ
I barely understand, myself.

CAINE
No, I mean they won't believe, because what they've seen is different.

TJ
What are you talking about?

[Caine stands up.]

CAINE
Ah… I have learned one thing in all of this, and it's that out here on the edge of the universe, who you are and what you believe is everything. So it's up to you to decide if this is a blessing or a curse.

[TJ looks down at the baby.]

CAINE
Goodbye, TJ.

INT—INFIRMARY

[TJ is lying on the cot and slowly regains consciousness. Wray is standing beside her.]

TJ
Camile?

[TJ starts to move but Wray stills her.]

WRAY
Hey, it's okay. Just, um, take it easy.

TJ
How long was I gone?

WRAY
What do you mean?

TJ
How long was I off the ship?

WRAY

You were here the whole time, and the doctors worked on you. They did the best they could but, um…
(starting to cry)

I'm so sorry.

[TJ turns her face away.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[The Stargate is active, and Scott, Greer and other personnel are welcoming back the Destiny crew members who are coming through. Scott shakes Riley's hand as he comes through.]

RILEY
Hi Sir.

SCOTT
Good to see you.

GREER

(to a crew member)

You take care, all right?

[Varro comes through the Stargate, followed by the other Lucian Alliance members. Greer gestures them towards some waiting Marines.]

GREER
That way! That way!

[James comes through, and she and Greer exchange a fist-bump. Young comes through behind her and goes to where Scott and Greer are standing.]

SCOTT
Welcome back, Sir.

[Young shakes Greer's hand, Greer is smiling broadly.]

YOUNG
Well done, Sergeant.

GREER
Good to see you.

[Young shakes Scott's hand.]

YOUNG
Well done, Lieutenant.

SCOTT
It wasn't really us, Sir. Mostly, it was Rush.

[Young gives a look over to where Rush is standing behind the console. Scott nods towards the Lucian Alliance members.]

SCOTT
So, what about them?

YOUNG
Well, let's put them with the others.

[Varro and Young look at each other.]

YOUNG

(to Scott and Greer)

Excuse me.

[Young starts to walk away.]

SCOTT

Sir.
(calling after him)

Sir?

[Young stops and turns around.]

SCOTT
There's something else.

EXT—SPACE

[Destiny jumps into FTL.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Young is walking along the corridor.]

INT—INFIRMARY

[Young walks in and goes to TJ's cot. He takes her by the hand, and she turns her face away, crying.]

INT—STOREROOM

[A large number of Lucian Alliance members are milling around. The door opens and Varro and the others enter.]

INT—KINO ROOM

[Eli is watching the Lucian Alliance members on the console.]

INT—RUSH'S QUARTERS

[The door opens and Rush walks in. He removes his shoes and tee-shirt then lies down on the bed and turns the light out. He lies there for a while then sits up in the dark.]

INT—SCOTT'S QUARTERS

[Scott is asleep. Chloe is sitting on the edge of the bed, inspecting the nearly healed bullet wounds in her thigh.]

INT—YOUNG'S QUARTERS

[Young is sitting on the sofa, pouring from a flask and drinking.]

EXT—SPACE

[Destiny drops out of FTL.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Volker looks up from a console to Brody at another.]

VOLKER
That was a quick jump.

BRODY
This is where we were supposed to come out before the Lucian Alliance dialed in.

VOLKER
Is there any deadly radiation?

[Brody doesn't answer.]

VOLKER
Brody?

BRODY
Hold on.

[Volker comes over while Brody watches the screen on his console and operates the dial.]

BRODY
We're good.

[Volker returns to his console and Brody looks relieved.]

INT—INFIRMARY

[TJ struggles painfully out of bed. Wray sees her and is concerned.]

WRAY
TJ!

[Wray goes over and takes TJ by the arm.]

WRAY
You should not be getting up…

TJ
I'm fine. I just need to clear my head right now.

[TJ walks away and Wray sighs heavily.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[TJ is walking along the corridor, until she arrives at the observation deck.]

INT—OBSERVATION DECK

[There are people sitting around talking, working and reading. TJ walks past them to the windows. She has a shocked look on her face. She is looking at the same nebula Caine had shown her on the planet. She stands looking out, both smiling and crying.]
