Media Blitz for Season Premieres

The usual rush of media announcements for this Friday’s premieres of SG-1 and Atlantis has begun. Here is a sampling so far:

New York Post

TWO out-of-this-world dramas orbit back to earth on Friday night.
First up is the tenth season of “Stargate SG-1,” where the team of well-dressed outer space hunks led by Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder) struggles to overcome massive setbacks following its defeat by the Ori motherships. Over on “Stargate Atlantis,” now in its third year, Lt. Col. John Sheppard must save his pals McKay (David Hewlett) and Ronon (Jason Momoa) from the evil Wraith.

Kansas City Star: What to Watch this Week

Here’s a show the new head of Showtime wishes he still had: “Stargate SG-1,” which returns for its 10th season at 8 p.m. on the Sci Fi Channel. For its first five years on the air, “Stargate” aired on Showtime, but the pay cabler gave up on it so that it could concentrate on creating exciting new shows like … umm, give us a minute, we’ll think of one. Also returning is spin-off “Stargate Atlantis” for its third season at 9 p.m. As in previous years, there will be crossover plots between the two “Stargates.” I hear that a third “Stargate” is in the works; unlike Showtime, Sci Fi apparently knows when it has a good thing.

New York Newsday

SEASON PREMIERES. Sci Fi serves up a 10th season of “Stargate SG-1” (Friday at 9 p.m., Sci Fi), making it, the cable net proclaims, the longest-running sci-fi drama ever on American TV. Claudia Black joins the regular cast. It’s followed by the third-season premiere of “Stargate Atlantis” (Friday at 10 p.m., Sci Fi). Multimedia goodies at www.scifi.com/stargate.

Tennessee native sticks in ‘Stargate’: Browder returns for his second season, show’s 10th

This article has an interview with Ben and reviews his career. An excerpt:

”He is a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force in charge of Stargate-1. Quite frankly, it is a legendary team. It’s sort of an unusual situation to be in,” said Browder of himself as well as his Cameron Mitchell character. ”He’s still a work in progress. What he is today is not what he was a year and a half ago. He’s much more settled than when he first arrived.”

  1. Yeah, I’m glad Showtime didn’t know what it had, otherwise I’d still be watching sindication on Fox at midnight on sunday!
