Premiere Ratings Not Stellar?

According to published “overnight” ratings for cable television shows for 10 July – 16 July 06, neither Stargate premiere made it into the top 15. The rating for the 15th place show was 2.3, so the Stargates’ ratings must have been below that, though how much is not known publicly. The fact that Sci Fi Channel did not put out a press release would hint that the ratings were not remarkable.

Ironically, the top 15 cable shows included the Friday night competitors to Stargate on Sci Fi’s parent network, USA, namely “Monk” and “Psych.” The actual Stargate ratings will be published in two weeks. Let’s hope they barely missed the 2.3 level. 🙂

  1. Ihave been watching SG-1 since it was on cable..and one of the main reasons is that I am a big Mgyver fan (R.D.A.fan)..could it be that maybe thats why the ratings aren”t all that high anymore ??? R.D.A. left. Everybody has their own opinion as to what actor or actress is stargate….
But me….I noticed in myself that since R.D.A.left my interest in sg-1 has diminished some…I still watch it but not as much as when R.D.A. was running it. It still is a great show…..

  2. I miss Jack, too, but my enthusiasm for the show has been less because of the emphasis on Cameron Mitchell as the “new lead” — that is such a major “turn off” to me. I’m still a fan of the show because of the veterans, but most especially of Daniel Jackson.

  3. I have watched this show from the beginning and have been a big fan. However I too have found my enthusisuim for the show waning because of the “new lead” Cameron Mitchell. I also find him a major “turn off”

The fact that most of the information coming out about the future episodes highlights his role and almost his role alone has further ruined my interest in the show.

  4. 10 years is an incredible run for a show. Maybe it has just run its course with audiences. I also think many people have given up watching commercial tv and are willing to wait for DVD’s to rent or buy.

  5. Unfortunately, USA Network (hey, part of the same NBC family as Scifi, go figure) is where all the advertising dollars have gone, and it’s paid off as both those shows appeal to a much wider audience. I can’t help but wonder if BSG’s absence from the schedule helped subtract from ratings as some fans might sit through the SGs to watch BSG (die hard BSG fans, that is).

  6. Do you guys think the powers that be look at these comments????maybe they will get the fans feedback and take the hint….:) eh???

  7. If the show does cancel then (hope not) they should do like star-trek put it to the movie screen…first thing they should do is get Cameron Mitchell killed off
