In the past few weeks, three new Stargate books have become available, at least in the US and UK. I have all three and would very much recommend them:
Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide. Written by Kathleen Ritter, who runs the rdanderson.com web site, this large, hard-back book is full of hundreds of color photos from SG-1, and is a mini-encyclopedia of the characters, races, technology, and plot arcs of the show. While most of the write-ups are short, they are relevant, accurate, and interesting. The book comes with a CD but I haven’t opened it yet!

Stargate SG-1: The Illustrated Companion Season 9. The guide books are now being written by Sharon Gosling, who publishes the Stargate novels, rather than journalist Thomasina Gibson, who wrote previous years’ books, in which two seasons were combined for each book. The new issue is lively and fun, with plenty of quotes from writers, directors, and actors. The foreword is by Michael Shanks! While the black and white reproductions are not great, there is a several-page color insert with excellent stills and production photos. My only complaint is Gosling’s overuse of exclamation points (!) which I find distracting as I read.

Stargate Atlantis: The Official Companion Season 2. Again written by Sharon Gosling, this is similar to the SG-1 guide and also a lot of fun, with many behind-the-scenes tidbits.
