Executive producer and co-showrunner Joseph Mallozzi has revealed in the September 2 entry of his personal blog (spoilers) the name of the Season Four finale: “The Last Man”.
The production is nearing the end of filming all of the episodes, according to Mallozzi, “We are partway through filming Harmony and will be moving on to Trio next. Outcast will follow Trio and then we’ll be finishing up with season finale.” In addition to little spoilery tidbits, he has been including all kinds of behind-the-scenes images and videos for fans to enjoy throughout the current production season.
As Mallozzi has indicated in the past, production order does not necessarily reflect airing order. The actual airing order for the second half of the season was revealed by Mallozzi on August 13 as: “Be All My Sins Remember’d, Spoils of War, Quarantine, Outcast, Trio, Midway, Harmony, Kindred I, Kindred II, Finale.” The Solutions Stargate Wiki has the Season Four index listed in this order. If the airing schedule changes, we’ll update the index as appropriate.
Not much is known about the plot of the finale other than that “this one will be big – but very, very different,” as Mallozzi has described it. It will, however, be a cliffhanger and be linked in some way with “The Kindred I” and “The Kindred II”, the two episodes that immediately precede it and include the return of Dr. Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion).
The production has not yet received the notification from the Sci Fi Channel if they’ll have a Season Five in which to continue the cliffhanger, but Mallozzi is thinking positively and reassures the fans, “If worse comes to worse, I’m sure MGM will find a way to have the Atlantis team continue its adventures in one way or another.”
Season Four of Stargate Atlantis makes its world premiere with the episode “Adrift” on Friday, September 28, at 10pm Eastern, on the Sci Fi Channel.
