According to script coordinator Alex Levine in his scifi.com blog, Season Five of Stargate Atlantis will be getting a summer premiere on the Sci Fi Channel! Levine said, “The good news: we’re airing early this year, starting in the summer. So hopefully our ratings will stay up, and most importantly, you won’t have long to wait for more Stargate.”
The Season Four finale “The Last Man” airs tonight on the Sci Fi Channel at 10pm Eastern. Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi has teased his readers of his personal blog that the story ends on one of the biggest cliffhangers the series has ever offered, stating that the episode “will surely have fans pulling their hair out when those final credits roll. Hopefully, they won’t have to wait too long for the season 5 premiere – or there could be a riot.”
Levine promised he’d continue to gather all kinds of interesting tidbits for his blog between now and the summer premiere: “And, of course, my blog hiatus will be a short one. But here’s my pledge: I’ll accumulate tons of fun and interesting anecdotes during the “blog hiatus” and then, when we come back this summer, there will be a veritable deluge of exciting behind the scenes stories for you. All about the office staff and what color paper is my favorite. How Tanja rearranged the office furniture up front, and who the recent inductees are into IATSI 891 (the film union). It’ll be great!”
Filming for Season Five started last month, and several scripts are ready for production. Mallozzi has kept his readers up-to-date with the line-up of episodes, which you may find sorted out in our Solutions Wiki (beware of spoilers).
