Stargate star Robert Picardo has talked to several reporters recently about his joining the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis in Season Five. Here is a brief list of some of these interviews (list includes Atlantis and other projects):
MGM: Close Up: Robert Picardo – “Robert Picardo is no stranger to science fiction television, having spent seven years playing the holographic Doctor in Star Trek: Voyager. He first made an impact on the Stargate universe back in Stargate SG-1‘s seventh season, when Woolsey arrived at Stargate Command in the wake of Janet Fraiser’s death. It’s fair to say that the character didn’t endear himself to the SG-1 team — but Picardo obviously made himself popular with the show’s producers, because it wasn’t long before the one-off character was back for more. And from that point on, Richard Woolsey was on the road to character recovery.” …
STARLOG: Pysch Test (excerpt from magazine article by Pat Jankiewicz) – “A longtime STARLOG favorite, the versatile character actor with the expressive eyebrows and rubbery face is immediately recognizable from numerous roles: Eddie Quist in THE HOWLING, Coach Cutlip of THE WONDER YEARS, Dr. Richard on CHINA BEACH, the holographic Doctor on board STAR TREK: VOYAGER and Richard Woolsey, STARGATE SG-1’s panicky government bureaucrat.” …
SCI FI WIRE: Atlantis‘ Picardo Is Reluctant Chief – “Robert Picardo, who joins the regular cast of SCI FI Channel’s original series Stargate Atlantis in the coming fifth season, told SCI FI Wire that he initially had doubts about playing the new base commander.” …
SCI FI WIRE: Picardo Goes Dark In Sensored – “Longtime SF actor Robert Picardo (Stargate Atlantis) told SCI FI Wire that he takes on a darker persona in the forthcoming horror movie Sensored, in which he plays Wade Mixon, a seemingly normal children’s-book illustrator who’s hiding a terrible secret within his suburban ranch house.” …
Richard Woolsey’s first episode as the new commander in Season Five is “The Seed” (episode 5.02). He’s currently slated to appear in 14 of the 20 episodes.
Stargate Atlantis premieres on the Sci Fi Channel on July 11 at 10pm ET/PT.
