The Constellation Awards are Canada’s new set of annual science fiction awards, focused on rewarding excellence in science fiction film and television. Nominations and winners will all be selected by the Canadian viewing public. Awards will be awarded in nine categories.
The awards are being sponsored and organized by the TCON Promotional Society, the not-for-profit corporation who organize the annual Polaris science fiction event (formerly known as Toronto Trek). The 2006 Constellation Awards ceremony will be held at Polaris 21, taking place on the weekend of July 6-8, 2007, and they will be hosted by Ed The Sock and Liana K!
Voting is now open! Go to our voting page to submit your votes by postal mail or using our online ballot. Voting deadline: June 15th, 2007.
Stargate Nominations
- Best Male Performance in a 2006 Science Fiction Television Episode – Ben Browder, “Company of Thieves”
- Best Female Performance in a 2006 Science Fiction Television Episode – Claudia Black, “Memento Mori”
- Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2006 – Stargate SG-1; Stargate Atlantis
- Best Overall 2006 Science Fiction Film or Television Script – Robert Cooper and Brad Wright for Stargate SG-1: “200”
- Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2006 (allows for individuals to be nominated as well as production companies/shows) – Michael Shanks; Stargate SG-1
The remaining categories in which no Stargate nominees were included are Best Male Performance in a 2006 Science Fiction Film, TV Movie, or Mini-Series; Best Female Performance in a 2006 Science Fiction Film, TV Movie, or Mini-Series; Best Science Fiction Film, TV Movie, or Mini-Series of 2006; and Best Technical Accomplishment in a 2006 Science Fiction Film or Television Production.
