Stargate SG-1 Cast Interviews: Teryl Rothery

Fraiser's Unfaded
Sharon Gosling, Stargate SG-1 * Atlantis Official Magazine Yearbook, March/April 2006

Janet Fraiser in Heroes Part 1

"My agent called and said, 'Hey, I had an interesting call today. I was being asked about your availability'. And I said, 'Oh great - what show?' and he said 'Stargate SG-1'. And I went, 'Stargate SG-1?' Then there was a pause and he said, 'I thought you were dead?' [laughs] I said, 'Well, it's is sci-fi. Maybe it's a dream sequence...' So that's how I found out!  Then I got a call from one of the people in production saying, 'We've got this script and we want you to take a look at it and see what you think'. So I had the script delivered and thought it was great, I loved it."

"It was harder for me to feel like Janet when I got there, because she wasn't in a lab coat.  I find that when I put the lab coat on, then I'm her [immediately] - it's just like her skin. But I was in fatigues in this one, and I was thinking, 'Oh my gosh, I've got to get back into her!'"

[...] "It was nice to see her talking a lot with Teal'c and Jackson. For the people who were fond of the whole Daniel Jackson/Janet Fraiser scenario, I think they're going to embrace that.  They played it beautifully, because the looks that Daniel was giving Janet...I remember taking those looks and responding as if to say, 'What the heck is wrong with you? What are you doing? Why are you looking at me as if you've seen a ghost?' There were some really nice moments that were subtle, and I do hope they read on screen."
