Sci Fi Channel has
joined in the nationwide Free Comic Book Day event with a combination of
on-air and online promotions. During the month of April, Sci Fi is
featuring ads during the airing of Stargate SG-1 stacks on Monday night,
directing viewers to "get a free comic book" at www.FreeComicBookDay.com
SCI FI will also make available
a custom-printed comic book bag and backing board for participating stores
to give out to customers. The bag will be printed with the Free Comic Book
Day and SCI FI Channel logos along the bottom, while the double sided backing
board will promote the SCI FI Channel Season 7 launch of Stargate SG-1
on June 6, 2003 on one side and tease the SCI FI Channel mini-series event,
Battlestar Galactica in December 2003. In the spirit of the day, both will
be free of charge.
Fans can also enter Sci Fi's
own competition, the GET IN THE GATE SWEEPSTAKES: the prize is a walk-on
role in Stargate SG-1. To find out more, go to the official
Sci Fi Stargate site. The promotional poster did disappoint fans
as it was a re-run of last year's Season Six poster with the character
of Jonas Quinn airbrushed out and replaced by returning favourite, the
fans' beloved Daniel Jackson. A new arrangement and images of all
the characters in Season Seven would have been greatly appreciated.
Daniel's new look for Season Seven is certainly sparking a great
deal of positive comment ;)
Daniel Jackson returns to SG-1
in Season Seven premiere "Fallen" and "Homecoming"
due to air in a three hour marathon beginning 8pm ET/PT on Friday June
13. The special presentation kicks off with a one-hour behind the
scenes special called "Stargate SG-1: The Lowdown", a 'light-hearted'
mockumentary hosted by Michael Shanks and Amanda Tapping. This special
will help new viewers catch up with the past six seasons as well as a sneak
preview of upcoming episodes in Season Seven. According to Sci Fi, Richard
Dean Anderson, Don S. Davis and Teryl Rothery will also be featured, along
with the showrunner, Exec Producer and writer Robert C. Cooper. The
Season Seven premiere "Fallen" airs at 9pm
ET/PT and will be followed by "Homecoming"
at 10pm ET/PT.
