Stargate: The Movie

Transcriber Notes

Spellings and names changed when Stargate was adapted from this movie to the Stargate SG-1 television show. Names and spellings listed here are as labeled in the movie, even if they may be different than seen in the rest of the Stargate Wiki or show spellings. Thus, Jack O'Neil is with one L; Kawalski is spelt with an i (note, credits have it with a y, but his uniform spells it with an i). Charlie is Tyler, Sha're is Shau'ri, and Cheyenne Mountain is "Military Installation, Creek Mountain."

When the alien native language was subtitled, that dialogue can be distinguished by italics.

OPENING CREDITS

EXT—NORTH AFRICAN DESERT, 8,000 B.C., NIGHT

[People are sleeping in their huts in a simple village. Suddenly a light appears from above, shining down from spot to spot over the homes. A wind picks up, rattling the hanging pots. A boy inside one of the huts watches, unsettled. A large space ship begins descending.]

[More of the villagers awaken as the ship continues to descend. As many of the villagers run, afraid, one boy moves forward, curious at the lightning and strange lights and wind. He moves closer, only becoming concerned as he realizes the ship is descending almost on top of him. A bright light starts to descend on him from above.]

EXT—GIZA, EGYPT, 1928, DAY

[A car drives quickly through the desert towards a busy and crowded archaeological site. In the car, a man drives an adult man and a girl, approximately twelve years of age. The car stops, and the driver honks his horn.]

[From inside a tent, a man who has been writing at a desk hurries out to greet the car.]

ARABIC INTERPRETER
Professor! Professor.

[He barely helps them out of the car before rushing ahead, trying to lead them to the center of the site. The girl and man, Catherine Langford and her father, hurry to catch up.]

ARABIC INTERPRETER
We found something beautiful! Very big surprise! Big big big surprise!

[He leads them over to a large round coverstone. One complete disk sits in the center, surrounded by a larger disk split into thirteen sections. Another man greets the professor and shakes his hand.]

FOREMAN TAYLOR
Dr. Langford, hello.

LANGFORD
What have we here?

FOREMAN TAYLOR
Cover stones.

LANGFORD
It's fantastic.

[Meanwhile, Catherine has started looking at some smaller artifacts being catalogued on one of the side tables. She's fascinated by a gold necklace, on its chain is a gold pendant with an intricate design, including the symbol for the eye of Ra.]

LANGFORD
Caterina, come.

[Catherine follows her father and the other men to another section of the site. Dozens of workers are using ropes to pull a large stone ring upright—the Stargate.]

LANGFORD
What in God's name is that?

FOREMAN TAYLOR
I wish I knew.

WORKMAN
Look at that. There is something buried underneath!

[The foreman and Taylor rush forward, yelling to the workers. Catherine moves to follow.]

LANGFORD
Caterina, stay back.

[He follows the others as more workers crowd forward. Catherine slips through the crowd to see as well. They left a smaller stone and carefully remove some other rocks.]

LANGFORD
Looks like some kind of fossil.

[Their eyes widen as the study this stone jackel-headed figure buried underneath.]

INT—HOTEL, PRESENT DAY

[An old woman, carrying a padded folder under her arm walks up the stairs of the lobby looking for something. She is wearing the eye of Ra pendant—she is Catherine in the present day.]

[Catherine spots a sign that reads: "Symposium Ancient Egypt—THE OLD KINGS and THE IVth DYNASTY, Alameda Room, 2-4 pm." Someone can be heard speaking in the room. She heads in that direction.]

DANIEL

(offscreen)

...then there are symbols painted everywhere: names, titles of owners, lists of offerings.

INT—ALAMEDA ROOM, HOTEL

[Catherine enters the crowded room. She stands by the doorway, watching the proceedings. Daniel Jackson is giving the lecture.]

DANIEL
Every other architectural structure at the time was covered with detailed hieroglyphics. When is the academic community going to accept the fact the pharoahs of the Fourth Dynasty did not build the great pyramids?

[Many of the audience begin to mutter amongst themselves.]

DANIEL
Look, look—inside the pyramid, the most incredible structure ever erected, there are no writings whatsover. And—

THOMAS
Doctor Jackson, you've left out the fact that Colonel Vyse discovered inscriptions with Khufu's name—

DANIEL
Right...

[Daniel nods, raising a finger and starting to write on his blackboard.]

THOMAS

(continuing)

...within the pyramid.

DANIEL
Well, his discovery was a fraud.

[Outraged mutterings come from amongst the audience. Some start to laugh.]

THOMAS
I don't think you'll prove it.

HECKLER
Well, who do you think built the pyramids?

[Everyone stays silent, awaiting Daniel's answer.]

DANIEL
I don't have any idea who built them...I mean,

HECKLER
Men from Atlantis? Or Martians perhaps?

[People begin walking out of the room, laughing and scoffing with comments that can be overheard like "what a joke" or "which is the bigger myth?"]

DANIEL
The point is not who built them; the point is when they were built. I mean—we all know new geological evidence dates the Sphinx back to a much earlier period. And knowing this, I think, we have to begin to reevaluate everything we've come to accept about...

[Only one man in the front row remains. He awkwardly stands. Daniel steps off the podium to address him directly.]

DANIEL
I-I mean, I've been able to show a fully developed writing systems appeared in the first two dynasties, you know, which you know, almost as if it was based on an even earlier prototype.

[Catherine backs away. Daniel and the lone remaining man look around the now empty room.]

DANIEL
Is there a lunch or something that everybody...?

EXT—HOTEL ENTRANCE, DAY

[Rain pours down as Daniel, carrying two large suitcases, exits the hotel. He pulls his jacket's hood over his head to provide some protection and tries to cover his one suitcase with his coat. An uniformed man with an umbrella approaches from a car parked just outside the hotel.]

KAWALSKI
Doctor Jackson?

DANIEL
What? Yes?

KAWALSKI
Someone wants to speak with you.

INT—CAR

[Catherine flips through a file, which includes a diploma from UCLA, as the officer continues to talk to Daniel.]

DANIEL
The Air Force? What's this? What is this?

KAWALSKI
Could you step over to the car, please.

[Catherine glances over just as Daniel bends down and squints to look inside, while still several feet away.]

KAWALSKI
Sir?

DANIEL
Am I going somewhere?

[The car driver, also standing with an umbrella just outside the door, opens it for Daniel as he approaches.]

KAWALSKI
You're going to be fine. We'll take care of these.

[He takes Daniel's shoulder bag as Daniel cautiously drops his other suitcase and sits in the car. He warily looks at Catherine. She passes over a photograph of a smiling couple playing with a baby.]

CATHERINE
Jackson, are those your parents?

[Daniel glances from her to the photograph, his motion to lower his hood arrested for a moment.]

DANIEL
Foster parents.

[Catherine replaces the photograph and continues to look at the file.]

DANIEL
Wha-what is this all about?

CATHERINE
A job.

DANIEL

(with a nervous chuckle)

What kind of a job?

CATHERINE
Translation. Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Interested?

[Catherine smiles at him. Daniel continues to look at her.]

DANIEL
I-I'm gonna go now.

CATHERINE

Go where?
(chuckles)

I mean, you've just been evicted from your apartment. Your grants have run out. Everything you own are in those two bags. Want to prove that your theories are right? This is your chance.

[She holds out an envelope, gesturing for him to take it. Daniel glances from her to the envelope before taking it.]

DANIEL
What's this?

CATHERINE
Travel plans.

[Daniel struggles to come up with a response, when the door opens. Daniel's still opening the envelope.]

KAWALSKI
Sir?

[Daniel looks back at Catherine, who gives him a small smile. He raises his hood again steps out of the car.]

EXT—HOTEL ENTRANCE, DAY

[The driver starts up the car while Daniel is still opening the envelope. Kawalski steps around him and gets in next to Catherine. The car drives off as Daniel looks at a plane ticket before looking back at the departing car.]

EXT—SUBURBAN STREET, DAY

[An Air Force sedan drives down a tree lined street in autumn before stopping at one of the houses. Two air force officers step out.]

INT—O'NEIL HOME

[Mrs. O'Neil opens the door to the two officers.]

JOHNSON
Mrs. O'Neil?

[Mrs. O'Neil steps away from the door, leaving it open as she goes to the kitchen.]

MRS. O'NEIL
Come on in.

[The two officers enter.]

JOHNSON
Mrs. O'Neil, is your husband at home?

[She works on the dishes and reaches for a cigarette.]

MRS. O'NEIL
Yes.

JOHNSON
Do you think we might be able to speak with him?

[She shrugs as she finishes lighting her cigarette and takes a drag from it.]

MRS. O'NEIL
You can try.

INT—TYLER O'NEIL'S ROOM

[Toys and photographs, and a certificate for Tyler O'Neil in Widget League in 1988 litter a bookshelf. O'Neil sits on Tyler's bed, holding a pistol as he stares at the photographs. There's a knock at the slightly-open door. O'Neil puts the gun under the pillow as the door opens wider.]

JOHNSON
Excuse me, Colonel O'Neil. We're from General West's office.

[O'Neil blinks, but does not turn around to face the men.]

JOHNSON
Sir? We're here to inform you...that you've been...reactivated.

EXT—SUBURBAN STREET, DAY

[The two officers get back in their sedan.]

OFFICER TWO
The guy's a mess. How'd he get like that?

JOHNSON
His kid died. Accidentally shot himself.

OFFICER TWO
Jesus.

EXT—MILITARY INSTALLATION, CREEK MOUNTAIN, COLORADO, DAY

[A government sedan approaches the guarded mountain entrance, the gates opening before it.]

INT—ELEVATOR

[Kawalski runs his ID card through a scanner in the elevator.]

FEMALE COMPUTER VOICE
Clear.

[Kawalski presses the elevator button for level 28 and smiles at Daniel, who smiles back before violently sneezing.]

MALE COMPUTER VOICE
Going to Level 28...4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10—

KAWALSKI
Cold?

MALE COMPUTER VOICE
15, 16, 17, 18, 19...

[Daniel pulls out a handkerchief and blows his nose. ]

DANIEL
Allergies. Always happens when I travel.

INT—LEVEL 28

[The elevator doors open and they both exit, Kawalski holding the door open.]

KAWALSKI
There you go.

[They pass other personnel entering the elevator.]

DANIEL

(nervously)

Hey, hi.

[Myers and Shore are in the corridor, carrying papers, they join Kawalski and Daniel.]

MYERS
Doctor Jackson?

DANIEL
Hello.

MYERS
Doctor Gary Myers, how are you.

DANIEL
What is this place?

SHORE
Nuclear missile silo. Now don't worry, it's been completely converted. Barbara Shore.

DANIEL
Hello.

SHORE
Hi.

[Kawalski has reached the end of the corridor, where he opens double doors labeled "RESEARCH LABORATORY" and "Authorized Personnel Only". Inside are the cover stones found in 1928. Daniel stops and stares in wonder. Catherine approaches without Daniel noticing.]

CATHERINE
Okay, Jackson.

DANIEL
Oh, hello!

CATHERINE
Welcome to the well.

[They shake hands.]

CATHERINE
Glad you decided to join us.

DANIEL
This is..uh...where did you find this?

CATHERINE

(chuckling, pleased)

Giza plateau, 1928.

DANIEL
I've never seen anything like this.

[Catherine laughs.]

CATHERINE
Of course you haven't. No one has.

[Daniel moves closer and touches the stone.]

MYERS
Now there's two lines of hieroglyphs. The inner track has the classic figures, but the outer track is like the cartouche in the center. It's got writing unlike what we've ever found before.

[Daniel steps back to see better.]

DANIEL
Those aren't hieroglyphics. Might be some form of hieratic or maybe cuneiform.

SHORE
Yeah.

[Daniel moves to a blackboard, looking at where the hieroglyphs have already been partly translated into English.]

DANIEL
Well, the translation of the inner track is wrong. Must've used Budge. I don't know why they keep reprinting his books.

[He starts erasing some of the translation.]

MYERS
Ex-excuse me. Wha-what are you doing? We've used every known technique.

[Daniel finally turns around, pointing to an untranslated symbol.]

DANIEL
That's a curious word, to use, eh, "Quebeh"?

MYERS
Yeah...?

DANIEL
Then an adverbial sedjem-en-ef with a cleft subject. Then "Sealed and buried."

[Adds the words to an untranslated section of the hieroglyphs, then crosses out "coffins".]

MYERS
Ex-excuse me. Wha-what are you doing?

DANIEL
That's not coffins.

[Daniel ignores Myers, crossing out the word "forever to eternity" and replacing it with...]

DANIEL
"For all time." Who the hell translated this?

[Catherine and Shore look at Myers.]

MYERS
Uh, I-I did.

DANIEL

(sighing)
Well, this should read: "A million years into the sky is Ra, sun god, sealed and buried for all time..." It's not "door to heaven".
(He crosses that word out and replaces it.)

"His Stargate."

[Catherine laughs. Daniel turns back to face the others. Kawalski watches with his arms folded.]

DANIEL
Well, so why is the military so interested in 5,000 year old Egyptian tablets?

O'NEIL
My report says 10,000.

[O'Neil, dressed in Class A uniform, stands behind them with a folder in his arm. They all turn around. Kawalski stands at attention.]

KAWALSKI
Afternoon, Colonel.

[O'Neil approaches and hands Kawalski the folder.]

CATHERINE
Um, do I know you?

O'NEIL
I'm Colonel Jack O'Neil from General West's office. I'll be taking over from now on.

DANIEL

(low, to Shore)

This figure 10,000 is ludicrous. I mean, Egyptian culture didn't even exist—

SHORE
Mmm. We know. But the sonic and radio carbon tests are conclusive.

DANIEL
Well, these are cover stones. Was there a tomb underneath?

SHORE
No, no, no. But we found something a lot more interesting.

O'NEIL

Excuse me. This information has become classified.
(to Kawalski)

From now on, no information is to be passed on to non-military personnel without my express permission.

[Kawalski nods, and O'Neil leaves.]

MYERS
Catherine, what's going on here?

CATHERINE
I'm not sure.

INT—CORRIDOR

[O'Neil continues to walk down a corridor. Catherine approaches from behind.]

CATHERINE
Colonel O'Neil, I think you owe me an explanation.

[O'Neil stops and turns back.]

CATHERINE
I was told I had complete autonomy.

O'NEIL
Plans change.

CATHERINE
Why are you here? Why did they bring you on this project?

[O'Neil glances around evasively before looking directly at her.]

O'NEIL
I'm here in case you succeed.

[He walks off as Catherine chuckles ruefully.]

EXT—MOUNTAIN COMPLEX, TWO WEEKS LATER, DAWN

INT—RESEARCH LAB

[An exhausted Daniel listens to his dictated notes at a table in front of the cover stones. The table is covered with reference books, paper, candy wrappers, and a coffee mug, as well as the dictaphone.]

DANIEL

(on recording)

Completed search of cuneiform and other pre-dynastic hieroglyphics. No matches whatsoever. I've exhausted all reference material in comparing the symbols on the cartouche against all known writing samples from the period pre- and post-. Still no similarities...I'm never gonna get paid.

[Daniel shuts off the recording. He goes over to the coffee pot to refill his cup, only to find the carafe is practically empty.]

INT—CORRIDOR JUST OUTSIDE LAB

[Daniel shuffles out of the lab tiredly with the carafe. A guard sits by a desk with his feet propped up, reading a newspaper.]

GUARD

(admonishing)

Uh-uh-uh.

[Daniel flashes his ID badge, and the guard settles back with his paper. Daniel goes to the water fountain and refills the carafe, glancing around and noticing the front page of the guard's paper has an article title "Orion Upclose" with a quarter page photograph of the constellation. He stops filling the carafe and moves over to the paper. He grabs that page out of the guard's hands and rushes back into the lab. The guard is still sitting there as Daniel's head appears again in the lab door window.]

DANIEL
Can I borrow this?

INT—RESEARCH LAB

[Daniel grabs a marker and starts filling in the lines between the stars of the constellation. He then climbs the stair-ladder to compare his drawing with one of the glyphs. They match.]

DANIEL
Orion.

EXT—MOUNTAIN COMPLEX, DAY

[Four military cars enter the mountain. Several people exit.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Kawalski hurries down a corridor. Daniel follows, his hands full of large rolled up papers and a coffee mug. He gulps down the rest of his drink and leaves the mug abandoned on one of the pipes that line the corridor, hurrying to catch up.]

INT—BRIEFING ROOM

[Several military officers, Myers, Shore, and Catherine are already inside.]

DANIEL
Hi, hello.

[Some military nod in greeting.]

KAWALSKI

(indicating a chair)

Right here.

CATHERINE
Jackson, I'd like you to meet General West.

[West approaches and puts out his hand. Daniel shakes it.]

DANIEL
Oh, hello. Oh, right. General.

[West moves to his seat. Daniel tries to put down his things, nodding to another military man.]

DANIEL
Hello. Okay.

WEST
So, you think you've solved in fourteen days what they couldn't solve in two years?

DANIEL

(surprised)

Two years?

WEST
Any time.

[O'Neil enters. Daniel starts passing around several of his rolled papers. ]

DANIEL

Um, I have some stuff for you to look at. Just, um, pass-pass them down. Um, you'll have to share them, cause I um...
(chuckles nervously)

...Sorry, I—Sorry, I don't have enough of those. But, anyway...

[He sits and starts looking at his own copy, starting to sound more confident.]

DANIEL
Okay, all right, we're obviously looking at a picture of the cover stones. Now, on the outer track, these figures that you would believe to be words to be translated were, in fact...

[He stands again and shuffles his papers, pushing some larger pieces aside and into some people next to him to roll out a star chart.]

DANIEL
—sorry about that—were in fact star constellations. Now these constellations were placed in a unique order forming a map or an address of sorts. Seven points to outline a course to a position.

[Daniel turns to the metal wall behind him, on which a picture of the cover stones has already been taped. He tapes up another paper and begins to draw on it. O'Neil lights a cigarette.]

DANIEL
And uh...to find a destination within any three dimensional space, you need six points to determine the exact location.

[Daniel draws a cube and places a dot in the center of each of the six "sides" of the cube and then draws lines between them all to intersect at a spot in the cube.]

WEST
You said you needed seven points.

DANIEL
Well, no, six for the destination. But to chart a course, you need a point of origin.

[He draws a point some distance from a cube and then a line to where all the cube spots intersect.]

MYERS
Except there's only six symbols in the cartouche.

DANIEL
Well, the seventh actually isn't inside the cartouche, it's just below it, here designated by a little pyramid with two funny neat little guys and funny little line coming out of the top.

[He circles an upside down v that has a symbol above its apex and two human-like figures on each side of the "v" shape and then proceeds to draw it again roughly on the wall next to his chart while he talks. When finished, he laughs at his bad drawing. No one else laughs.]

DANIEL
Anyway...

CATHERINE
He did it.

MYERS
No. That symbol isn't anywhere on the device.

DANIEL
Uh-what device? Um?

[West looks to O'Neil, who shrugs.]

WEST
Show him.

[Shore squeezes Catherine's hand as they both smile. Kawalski stands and goes over by Daniel, pressing a button. The metal "wall" Daniel has been using as a dry erase board is actually a blast shield that rises. Daniel looks out of the window into the room beyond. The Stargate sits there. A metal ramp is in front of it, and various personnel are working around it. Catherine comes up to stand beside Daniel.]

DANIEL
What is that?

CATHERINE
It's your Stargate. Come, Jackson.

[She moves away. After another moment, Daniel follows.]

COMPUTER VOICE
Personnel, report to command center.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Myers, Daniel, and Catherine enter the control room.]

MYERS
Monitors up.

WOMAN
Monitors are up.

MYERS
Mitch, you want to bring up the details on the center monitor, please.

MITCH
Yep. I've got details...on.

[He punches a few keys. A computer monitor shows an image of the Stargate with seven blank boxes to the right. It reads "idle".]

[The Stargate spins around. Shore has now joined the others in the room. On one screen close up images of all the constellation glyphs can be seen. Daniel notices one glyph in particular, the "pyramid" with a circle above it.]

DANIEL
Hold it!

[They stop the Stargate spinning.]

DANIEL
Wait. Do you have a...um...sorry.

[He looks around, spotting a marker in Mitch's pocket and grabbing it.]

MITCH
Hey, hey, hey, don't...!

[Daniel has already begun drawing his little stick figures on the actual monitor screen.]

DANIEL
Two figures on either side, praying beside a pyramid with the sun directly above it.

MYERS

(amazed)

He's right. It was in front of us the whole time.

[Catherine reaches for a phone and dials an extension.]

CATHERINE

(into phone)

General West, Jackson has identified the seventh symbol.

INT—BRIEFING ROOM

[West, O'Neil, Kawalski, and the rest of the military brass are still watching from the briefing room window. West is on the phone.]

WEST
Go ahead.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

JENNY
Programming seventh symbol into computer. Chevron One is holding. Chevron One is locked in place.

MITCH
Power output at 23 percent.

JENNY
Chevron Two is holding.

FEMALE COMPUTER VOICE
Engaged.

JENNY
Chevron Two is locked in place.

MITCH
Holding at 35 percent.

INT—GATE ROOM

TECHNICIAN
All right, we've got a Condition Red at the Gate. Evacuate all personnel.

[The technicians hurry out of the room before the doors seal shut.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

DANIEL
It was under the cover stones?

CATHERINE
Yes. My father found it. 1928. Made out of a mineral unlike any found on Earth.

JENNY
Chevron Five locked in place.

MITCH
79 percent.

[A shaking starts, rattling the coffee cups and equipment. They continue typing.]

JENNY
Chevron Six is holding. Chevron Six is locked in place.

CATHERINE
This is as far as we have ever been able to get.

[The computer monitors go crazy with output as the seventh chevron is dialed — the Earth point of origin. The shaking is so hard, someone has to hold the telephone on the desk.]

MITCH
We have to override manually.

JENNY
Chevron Seven is...

FEMALE COMPUTER VOICE
Sequence complete.

JENNY
Chevron Seven is locked in place.

INT—GATE ROOM

[As everyone watches in the control room and briefing room, the Stargate activates with a giant vortex streaming outwards front and back, leaving a vertical wall of water. Catherine says something unintelligible over all the other noise.]

WEST

(via intercom)

Send in the probe.

[Guards enter the Gate room and technicians set up a treaded probe to go through the Stargate. West's aide Johnson calls down to the control room.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Myers answers the phone.]

MYERS

(into phone)

Yes, sir?

JOHNSON
Record all information from the Stargate.

INT—GATE ROOM

[The probe ambles up the ramp.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

JENNY
Clear inner silo for approach.

INT—GATE ROOM

TECHNICIAN
Clear inner silo.

[The guards exit the gate room.]

[The probe continues to move up the ramp. It pauses before the event horizon and sends through an arm. The arm continues to extend, then the probe appears to be pulled through the Stargate.]

INT—GATE ROOM

SHORE
It's guiding itself. Can you believe it?

[The computer describes a lot of illegible data as a device tracks across a star chart.]

SHORE
The thing has locked itself onto a point somewhere in the Kaliam galaxy.

JENNY
It has mass. It-it could be a moon or a large asteroid.

DANIEL
Where are we on that map?

CATHERINE

(points)

Look down.

[Daniel moves to the far end of the star chart where a red square box is. Then follows to where the trajectory guide is now sitting.]

CATHERINE
That's right, Jackson. It's on the other side of the...known universe.

JENNY
We're-we're losing the signal!

INT—GATE ROOM

[The wormhole shuts down.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM, LATER

[One screen shows video from the probe. It's pictures of a room, and another Stargate. West and O'Neil stand with several others analyzing the data.]

WEST
This is the information the probe sent back to us. Freeze and enhance. You can clearly see the 'gate on the other side. Both 'gates must have functioned as a doorway between our worlds.

JOHNSON
These readings tell us it's an atmospheric match. Barometric pressure, temperature, and most importantly, oxygen.

[One computer monitor shows reading results of "Life Support Possible." Daniel is looking at another screen showing close ups of the chevrons on the other Stargate.]

DANIEL
These markings are different. They don't match the symbols on our 'gate.

WEST
That's why we may have to abort. This project is for naught without a reconnaissance mission.

JOHNSON
Once on the other side, we'd have to decipher the markings on their 'gate, and in essence dial home in order to bring the team back.

WEST
Based on this new information, I don't see how we can do that.

DANIEL
Well, I can do that.

[Johnson, West and O'Neil look at Daniel. Kawalski looks over with a half-smile.]

WEST
Are you sure?

[Daniel looks back over at the unique Chevrons.]

DANIEL
Positive.

[O'Neil looks around at the others, then walks out.]

O'NEIL

(muttering to West as he passes)

He's full of shit.

WEST

(to Daniel)

You're on the team.

INT—CORRIDOR

[A guard sits at a table. The nearby door opens and the guard stands to attention as O'Neil enters. He signs in at the guard's desk, and the guard opens a door labeled 09-Y. O'Neil enters the room to stare at the fossil of the jackel-headed men. While he looks at the creature, West walks up behind him.]

O'NEIL
You understand this complicates things.

WEST
That's why I wanted you, Jack. We've opened a doorway to a world we know nothing about.

INT—RESEARCH LAB

[Daniel packs his suitcase full of books with titles like "Egypt Before the Pharoahs." A couple of Fifth Avenue candy bars are also inside. Catherine enters.]

CATHERINE
Jackson.

[Daniel is oblivious to her presence until she taps him on the shoulder. He turns and smiles.]

DANIEL
Hello. Hi.

CATHERINE
I have something for you.

DANIEL
No. I—

CATHERINE
Yes. I found it with Stargate when I was a child. It has brought me luck.

[She places the Eye of Ra necklace into his palm. He looks at it.]

CATHERINE
You can bring it back to me.

[Daniel nods.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[Military personnel pile up a small mechanized rover with equipment.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

JENNY
Back up storage, reserve power...on.

INT—GATE ROOM

[The personnel packing the equipment evacuate.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Jenny and Mitch continue to run through their checklist.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[O'Neil approaches his team, geared up and armed for the mission.]

KAWALSKI
Ten-hut!

[The squad stands at attention as O'Neil inspects them. He looks at his watch.]

O'NEIL
If anyone has anything to say, now's the time to say it.

[At the far end of the line, Daniel sneezes and pulls out a handkerchief. Everyone turns and looks at him as he blows his nose loudly.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

FEMALE COMPUTER VOICE
Vector tracking set.

INT—GATE ROOM

[The team enters the Gate Room, O'Neil in the lead. The wormhole is already active. O'Neil nods to one of the men, who activates the remote for the equipment rover. It enters the vortex. The men continue to follow O'Neil up the ramp, Daniel in the rear. O'Neil pauses for a moment then steels himself and enters. One of the men behind reaches for a religious medal under his collar and kisses it before following.]

FEMALE COMPUTER VOICE
Molecular deconstruction confirmed.

[The only one left is Daniel, who pauses at the event horizon. He runs his hand along the event horizon, studying its effect as he pulls his hand in and out. He then closes his eyes and puts his head in.]

WORMHOLE EFFECT

INT—ALIEN STARGATE ROOM

[Daniel comes to find himself lying on steps, O'Neil and Brown hovering over him.]

O'NEIL

Jackson! It's all right. It's over.
(to Brown)

Stay with him.

[O'Neil moves away.]

BROWN
Jackson, just listen to me. Keep moving. It wears off in a minute.

FERRETTI
What a rush.

O'NEIL
Prepare to move out.

[The wormhole is still active as the men turn on their flashlights and look around. Daniel stands. The wormhole shuts off. Several men light flares.]

O'NEIL
Three teams, let's go.

KAWALSKI

(into radio)

Three teams. Go.

[The men move out, leaving flares in their wake. Daniel follows behind. He pauses with one man to look at a strange ringlike structure in the ceiling.]

KAWALSKI
Team two, move out.

[The teams continue to recon in an organized pattern.]

REILLY
Clear. No contact.

O'NEIL
Freeze. Hold for sounds.

[Two men with monitoring equipment move forward. They head to the entrance, which is bright with sunlight.]

COMPUTER VOICE
Oxygen ratio stable.

BROWN
Conditions are similar to inside.

[O'Neil dons his sunglasses.]

O'NEIL
I'm gonna take a look around. Kawalski? Ferretti?

[The two move forward as other team members follow in the pattern. Daniel follows with them, studying the smooth walls of the structure.]

EXT—OUTSIDE PYRAMID, DAY

[They walk across a small bridge onto a sandy desert. The team pauses, jolted when they see three moons behind the pyramid.]

DANIEL

(smiling)

I knew it!

LATER

[Ferretti works with a piece of equipment.]

COMPUTER VOICE
Point three-three-two.

O'NEIL
Report.

KAWALSKI
A quarter mile perimeter survey is just about complete, sir.

[Daniel walks around the outside of the pyramid.]

O'NEIL
Wrap this up. Get everybody back inside.

KAWALSKI
Right.

O'NEIL
I want all of you back through the Stargate within the hour.

KAWALSKI
You're coming with us, aren't you, Colonel? Sir?

[O'Neil ignores him. Daniel walks down the ramp to the others.]

O'NEIL
Jackson, start working on the Stargate.

FERRETTI

(low, to Kawalski)

What's that all about?

KAWALSKI

(low)

I dunno, Ferretti.

DANIEL
I-I'm gonna need more time. I mean, there's bound to be more structures here, or some other traces of civilization.

[O'Neil starts working on one of the pieces of equipment.]

O'NEIL
Not this trip. Just get back in there and reestablish contact.

DANIEL
Well, it's not that easy. This is a replica of the great pyramid of Giza. We're not gonna find any hieroglyphic inscriptions or carved relief. I mean, we really need to look around more.

[Ferretti and Kawalski have joined O'Neil and heard Daniel's response.]

O'NEIL
Your job here is to realign the Stargate. Can you do that or not?

[Daniel nods, then shrugs.]

DANIEL
I can't.

[The three look stunned.]

O'NEIL

(threateningly)

You can't or you won't?

DANIEL
I can decipher the symbols on the Stargate, but I need an order of alignment. Now those coordinates were marked on tablets back on Earth and there must be something like that here. And I-I just need to find it.

[He chuckles nervously.]

KAWALSKI
Find it? Whaddya mean, find it? You didn't say anything about "finding" anything.

DANIEL
Well, I assumed the tablets would be here, I mean right here.

O'NEIL
You assumed?!

KAWALSKI

(angry)
You're a lying son of a bitch!
(he shoves Daniel to the ground)

You didn't say a word about finding anything.

O'NEIL
Kawalski.

[O'Neil steps between Kawalski and Daniel, who's shakily getting to his feet. The other men are starting to look over.]

O'NEIL
Set up a camp down here. Organize our supplies.

KAWALSKI
Sir...

O'NEIL
You've got your orders.

[Kawalski sighs and moves away, others following.]

LATER

[Men continue to cart supplies to their camp, set just outside the pyramid. Some tents are already pitched.]

FREEMAN
Geez, it's hot.

FERRETTI
You know, I can't believe we're stuck here.

FREEMAN
Don't be such a doomsayer, Ferretti.

REILLY
Yeah, give it a rest.

BROWN
Yes, please. If we're not back soon, they'll just turn on the 'gate from the other side.

FERRETTI
Oh, no. It doesn't work that way. You see, if you don't turn it on from here, we're screwed. So I'm telling you guys, we're not going anywhere!

REILLY
Shut up.

[He breaks off as he notices Daniel arriving, lugging his suitcase and one of the equipment cases.]

DANIEL
It's a nice tent. Oh, we each get a tent. That's nice.

INT—STARGATE ROOM

[O'Neil is alone in the room, opening a hidden panel on the rover. He sets a cylindrical device, arming it.]

EXT—CAMP, DAY

[Daniel amuses himself by opening up the pockets in his tac vest. He finds some candy bars and other items. Feretti and some others watch from a distance.]

DANIEL

(to himself)

What the hell is that?

[He tosses the unknown item aside and continues muttering.]

FREEMAN

(to Ferretti)

Talk to him.

[Ferretti scratches his nose and heads over to Daniel.]

DANIEL

(still to himself)

I've got everything here but sunblock.

[Daniel turns around to see Ferretti behind him, holding his suitcase.]

DANIEL
Hi.

FERRETTI
Hey. Isn't there something you should be doing right now? Like...getting us out of here?

[Ferretti throws the suitcase at Daniel, who ducks. The suitcase flies over him and down a sand dune. The team watches Ferretti, looking amused. Daniel looks down at his suitcase, then at the item still in his hand.]

DANIEL
Foot powder. Great.

[He drops the foot powder and heads down to retrieve his suitcase. Freeman slaps hands with Ferretti.]

FREEMAN
Now that's cold.

[Daniel's suitcase has broken open, so Daniel is recovering all his books from the dune.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM

[O'Neil continues to assemble the device, adding a timer, pausing when he sees someone approaching. He finishes his assembly and closes the panel as Kawalski enters.]

KAWALSKI
Base camp is up, sir.

[O'Neil checks a small remote device and surreptitiously hides it from Kawalski.]

EXT—SAND DUNE, DAY

[Daniel has taken a break from retrieving his books and sits to eat a Fifth Avenue candy bar. He notices some large animal round prints in the sand and stands. The prints continue past his sight over the dune. He begins to follow the prints, finding over the next dune a large animal munching on some desert vegetation. It is a mastadge, and it has a harness. Daniel looks around, but no one is nearby.]

EXT—CAMP, DAY

[O'Neil arrives at the camp and puts down his equipment. He looks around.]

O'NEIL
Where's Jackson?

[They all look blankly at him.]

EXT—SAND DUNES, DAY

[The mastadge looks up nervously as Daniel approaches.]

DANIEL

(softly)

It's okay. It's okay. Sh-sh-sh. That's a good boy.

[He holds out his hand, palm up for the mastadge to sniff. The mastadge rears its head, then calms. It starts sniffing his other hand, which still holds the candy bar.]

DANIEL
What? You want some of this? Here you go, you like that?

[He breaks off a piece of the candy and holds it out. The mastadge takes it gently from his hand.]

DANIEL
There you go.

O'NEIL
I wouldn't feed that thing!

[O'Neil and Kawakski have arrived at the top of the dune. They're pointing their weapons down at the mastadge. Daniel looks up and grabs the harness.]

DANIEL
It's got a harness! It's domesticated!

[He pets the side of the mastadge, but something has spooked the creature. It rears. Daniel backs up, entangling his ankle in the loose rope attached to the mastadge's harness. As the mastadge runs away, Daniel is swooped off his feet and pulled behind it.]

O'NEIL
Aw, damn it!

[He starts running after Daniel and the mastage. Kawalski cups his hand and shouts.]

KAWALSKI
Let go of it!

[Daniel yells out as he's dragged along across the sands, unable to gain purchase on anything or reach the ropes!]

DANIEL
Ahh! Help me!

[O'Neil and others chase after the beast.]

DANIEL
Help me! Aaaah!

[O'Neil and the others stop, out of breath. The mastadge is still going strong, running through the desert sands, Daniel dragged behind, yelling.]

EXT—DESERT, DAY

[An unconscious Daniel gets licked in the face by the mastadge. He comes to, choking at the vile smell. O'Neil, Kawalski, and Brown are just reaching him.]

BROWN
You okay, Jackson?

[O'Neil gets distracted from Daniel's predicament by what he sees.]

O'NEIL
Kawalski. Brown.

[They both get up and follow O'Neil. The mastadge continues to nudge at Daniel.]

DANIEL
Ugh. Get away from me.

[O'Neil and the others pause at the top of the dune. Daniel stands and sighs, petting the mastadge absently as he watches Brown and Kawalski drop, weapons ready on either side of a standing O'Neil. He joins them, the Ra necklace shining brightly from where it came out from under his shirt during his dragging.]

[In the sands below is a large mining region near some tall rock pillars. Several people are working at the mines in very primitive conditions. There are ragged coverings set up as shade from the sun.]

WORKER

(spotting the men)

Chien pe-ow. Mieu.

SKAARA

(also spotting them)

Chien pe-ow. Mieu. Mieu. Mieu, shien mow.

[O'Neil and the others approach, the mastadge still following. Skaara approaches them. Everyone else has stopped work.]

O'NEIL
All right, Jackson. You're on.

DANIEL
Me?

O'NEIL
You're the linguist. Try to talk to them.

[Daniel stares at all of them.]

DANIEL

(walking forward, waving)

Hi.

[One of the men spots the Eye of Ra pendant around Daniel's neck. His eyes widen.]

WORKER
Na tu de-why-ya. Na tu de-why-ya.

[He bows down in front of Daniel and all the others follow until all are genuflecting. O'Neil and the others come forward.]

O'NEIL
What the hell d'you say to him?

DANIEL
Nothing.

[O'Neil walks over, noticing Skaara looking up. Skaara immediately ducks his head back down.]

O'NEIL
Hey, it's okay.

[He gestures Skaara to rise. Skaara nervously looks at O'Neil's clothes and actions.]

O'NEIL
Hey. See, it's okay. It's okay. See? Huh?

[He shakes Skaara's hand. Skaara panics and yells, running away.]

SKAARA
Si misoy. Si misoy! Kasuf! Kasuf!

[Brown moves his scanner over some of the rock they've been mining.]

COMPUTER VOICE
Quartz primary element.

[Skaara returns, pointing to the newcomers. He is joined by several others, leading a large mastadge with someone seated behind curtains.]

KASUF
Na-ney.

[The mastadge halts, and Kasuf moves the curtains to peer at the strangers. He gets down from the mastadge. He takes his staff and approaches, his people following behind. Skaara speaks to him, and he responds. He then turns to the team and speaks to them, including saying his name. He holds out his staff horizontally in a peaceful gesture and bows his head.]

DANIEL

(low, to O'Neil)

I can't make it out. It sounds familiar, a bit like Berber. Maybe Chadic or Omotic.

[Kasuf looks nervously at the strangers, then calls out to his people. The people begin to rise from their prostrated postions. Kasuf cautiously bows from the waist, and makes another order. Four women, including Shau'ri come forward, bearing bowls. They offer them to the strangers to drink. Shau'ri ends up in front of Daniel. They drink.]

DANIEL
Mmm. Thank you.

[Shau'ri bows, and she and the women step back. Kasuf bows, and Daniel bows in return.]

DANIEL
Oh. Here.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a 5th Avenue candy bar. Kasuf looks around confused as Daniel unwraps the chocolate and raises it to his face, smiling.]

DANIEL
Mmmmm.

KASUF
Ya rab-id yu?

[Kasuf mimes, eating. Daniel nods and mimes taking a bite of the candy before handing it to Kasuf. Kasuf takes it, and cautiously sniffs before taking a bite. He slowly chews, then his eyes widen.]

KASUF
Bunni, bunni-wae!

DANIEL
Bunni-wae?

KASUF

(amazed)

Bunni-wae!

[He turns, smiling to his people.]

DANIEL
Bunni-wae.

KAWALSKI
What's that mean?

DANIEL
I have no idea.

KASUF
Si pleu?

[Kasuf bows and gestures for them to come.]

DANIEL
He's inviting us to go with him.

KAWALSKI
How can you be so sure?

DANIEL

Because he's...
(repeats Kasuf's gesture)
inviting us to go with him.
(to O'Neil)

We were looking for signs of civilization. Obviously, we found it. You want me to get us back home, this is our best shot.

BROWN
Colonel, he's right. I took some readings of what they're mining back there. It's the same material as the Stargate.

O'NEIL

(sighing)

Radio base camp. Tell them to keep that area secured until we get back.

BROWN

(nodding)

Yes, sir.

EXT—BASE CAMP, DAY

BROWN

(over radio)

Base camp, come in.

FREEMAN
Ferretti, I've got 'em! Come on!

[Ferretti rushes over and dons the headphones.]

FERRETTI
Yes, sir!

[Brown's transmission is garbled.]

FERRETTI
Wha-can you repeat that, sir?

BROWN

(more clearly over radio)

Colonel O'Neil has requested that you secure the base. It looks like we're gonna be here for a while.

FERRETTI
Okay, sir.

BROWN

(over radio)

Understand?

FERRETTI
Yes, sir!

[The transmission ends with some more static. Ferretti tosses down the headphones.]

FREEMAN
So, what's the story?

FERRETTI
They're not coming back, okay? This is not good. No, it's not.

[He chuckles ruefully.]

EXT—DESERT, DAY

[The people make a large caravan, walking in a long line, O'Neil, Daniel, Kawalski, and Brown with Kasuf.]

KASUF

(pointing)

Yu-yu.

[They look and see an expansive stone city in the distance. They pause.]

SKAARA

(gesturing)

Yu liik. Yu-yu.

[Daniel begins to follow. Brown takes some pictures. Daniel begins to sneeze profusely. Kasuf looks around, confused. Daniel pulls out his handkerchief and blows his nose. He sticks it in his back pocket. Nabeh grabs the handkerchief gleefully. Shau'ri notices and giggles. Skaara wrestles it out of his grasp.]

SKAARA
Snoph-ai.

[He taps Daniel and hands him back his handkerchief with a smile. Daniel smiles back and looks around. When he glances in Shau'ri's direction, she studiously looks ahead of her.]

EXT—NAGADA, DAY

[They enter the city, Kasuf gesturing and giving orders. Kasuf gestures, and people pull away several hangings to reveal a large sized disk of the Eye of Ra suspended between two of the buildings. Everyone prostrates themselves again, following Kasuf's example.]

DANIEL
The eye of Ra. It's the Egyptian sun god. They think he sent us here.

O'NEIL
Yeah, I wonder what could've given them that idea?

[He pointedly fingers Daniel's pendant with the same symbol. Daniel smiles, amazed.]

DANIEL
Ra.

[He points at the large disk as Kasuf looks up warily.]

DANIEL
Ra?

[A horn blows in the distance and people start moving about hurriedly.]

KAWALSKI
Where they all goin'?

[Brown's radio starts squawking.]

BROWN

(into radio)
Again. Say again. Ferretti, I can't hear you.
(to O'Neil)

Sir, I can't make this out.

[He hands O'Neil the radio. All that can be heard is loud static]

O'NEIL

(into radio)

Ferretti, say again.

EXT—BASE CAMP, DAY

[The heavy wind blows sand around. Freeman wears his bandanna over his face, adjusting the radio dials as Ferretti yells into the speaker.]

FERRETTI
We have to abandon base camp! Repeat, we have to abandon base camp!

FREEMAN
It's useless! It won't work in this!

[Ferretti abandons the radio and starts grabbing supplies along eith the others.]

FERRETTI
Freeman, let's go! Let's move! Everybody, back inside. Come on! Just take what we can and go back! Grab it.

EXT—NAGADA CITY, DAY

[Kasuf claps his hands, and men push the doors to the city closed.]

O'NEIL
All right, we're goin' back right now. Let's go!

[Kasuf calls back to Daniel and starts speaking animatedly.]

DANIEL

(calling to O'Neil)

Wait, wait!

[O'Neil doesn't notice him. He and the others push their way through the crowd, trying to get to the door.]

O'NEIL
Move it, move it.

KAWALSKI
Get back. Move it. Move out of the way.

[Kawalski and Brown shove people aside as O'Neil reaches the door. Villagers try and stop him from unlatching it, but he fights them off, breaking one man's arm. Brown and Kawalski take hostages and keep their backs to the door as O'Neil fires his rifle in a warning pattern at the villagers feet, making them back off.]

KASUF
Na-ney!

[Kasuf approaches, holding his hands up in a non-threatening manner. Daniel and Skaara come racing up behind him. Kasuf turns around and starts shouting at his people, motioning them to back away.]

O'NEIL

(to Daniel)

Get over here.

[Daniel complies. Skaara looks directly at O'Neil and speaks in a calm, unthreatening manner.]

SKAARA

Na-ney. Na-ney.
(he points above him while speaking more native words)

Yu yu. Yu yu.

[He gestures for O'Neil come with him to a lookout point on top of the wall. Kasuf and the people look on in wonder. O'Neil follows Skaara. Daniel starts to follow as well.]

O'NEIL

(to Daniel)

Stay here.

[Daniel stops; O'Neil continues up to the wall. Skaara points out to the desert beyond and speaks in the alien tongue. O'Neil looks and sees a large sandstorm approaching across the horizon. O'Neil nods to Skaara that he understands.]

KAWALSKI
What is it, colonel?!

O'NEIL

(yelling down)

Sandstorm comin' this way.

[Kawalski lowers his rifle and releases his hold on his hostage, who collapses on the ground with a gulp of relief. Kawalski breathes heavily as he releases his own adrenalin.]

DANIEL

(dryly)

Well, that would've been an excellent reason to shoot everyone.

O'NEIL
We'll stay until it's over.

[Daniel taps Kasuf's arm to get his attention.]

DANIEL
Sh-shun?

[Kasuf nods vigorously and starts explaining again in the native tongue while Daniel tries to make out the words, imitating some of them. Kasuf nods and makes a whirring noise while gesturing the storm passing over their heads. Daniel walks off as Kawalski approaches.]

KAWALSKI
I'm sorry.

[He bows his head low. Kasuf nods back in respect. Kawalski shrugs at the misunderstanding.]

[The sandstorm reaches the city, stopped by the heavy walls from breaching the city itself.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[Ferretti leads the rest of the men into the shelter of the pyramid. All are coughing and exhausted, dragging their equipment cases.]

REILLY
Fall back to the pyramid!

PORRO
Where the hell'd that come from?

[Ferretti opens his case and pulls out a handheld radio.]

FERRETTI

(into radio)

Kawalski? Brown? Do you read?

[He listens intently, but there is only static.]

EXT—NAGADA CITY, NIGHT

[It is still very windy, but the storm has somewhat lessened.]

EXT—CITY, NIGHT

[Inside the city, a festival is happening. There is food, music, and laughter as everyone celebrates. O'Neil's team has seats of honor with Kasuf's family and the other elders. Daniel sniffs and then bites into some flat bread.]

KAWALSKI
Hey Jackson, I don't think we should eat any food here.

[Daniel continues eating.]

DANIEL
I dunno. They might consider that an insult.

[A new platter is set down in front of Daniel and Brown of some sort of armour-skinned large alien creature (like an armadillo). Daniel's jaw drops as Kawalski laughs. Kasuf gestures that Daniel has the honor of taking the first bite. Daniel continues to stare in alarm at the beast.]

KAWALSKI
Well, we don't want to offend them now, do we, Daniel?

[Daniel continues to chew on his flatbread as he cautiously reaches forward and scoops some of the meat out from where the center of the animal's hide has been cut open. He sniffs it before taking a bite, tasting it carefully. Kasuf watches anxiously.]

DANIEL
Tastes like chicken. Tastes like chicken. It's good.

[He laughs in relief. Kasuf cautiously smiles. Daniel turns to Kasuf.]

DANIEL

(points to tongue)

Tastes...like...bawk-bawk-bawk-bawk bawk bawk bawk.

[Daniel flaps his arms with his hands tucked under his armpits, imitating a chicken. Kasuf watches him in confusion. The team and some of the guests, including Skaara and Nabeh laugh.]

DANIEL
Tastes like chicken. Tastes like chicken. Good!

[Kasuf smiles and laughs in relief that Daniel seems to like the food, despite his strange mannerisms.]

O'NEIL

(shaking his head and sighing)

Jackson. You said that was an Egyptian symbol.

[O'Neil points to the large medallion. Daniel glances up and nods.]

DANIEL
Yeah, the Eye of Ra.

O'NEIL
Would you say then that it might stand to reason that if they know one Egyptian symbol.

DANIEL
Yes.

[In the meantime, Shau'ri has been speaking to her father. He nods with a calculating smile, and she stands.]

DANIEL
Yes.

[Daniel stands and walks over to Kasuf. Kasuf holds out his bowl in offering. Daniel puts his hand out, pushing it down as he crouches.]

DANIEL
No-no.

[He reaches under his shirt and pulls out his necklace. He shows it to Kasuf, who bends his arm and starts muttering words. Daniel reaches and pulls Kasuf's chin back up to face him.]

DANIEL
No-no.

[He points to his necklace again and then reaches down and begins to draw in the sand. Kasuf immediately reaches out with his foot and obliterates the writing.]

KASUF
Na-ney. Na-ney.

[He speaks more words quickly.]

DANIEL
No-no.

[Kasuf ignores Daniel, standing and speaking loudly to the crowd. He quickly pushes Shau'ri back out of sight, and continues to speak to the crowd, panicked.]

KAWALSKI
What the hell's going on?

[Kasuf holds out both hands to Daniel in a "stop" gesture, speaking beseechingly to him.]

DANIEL

(surprised)

It seems like writing is forbidden.

[O'Neil exhales after taking a drag from his cigarette, considering this. Kasuf meanwhile continues speaking and gesturing. Several women hurry forward, wrapping Daniel with a blanket and beginning to herd him out of the circle. The crowd seems happy and excited.]

DANIEL

What? What? Uh-heh. Uh...
(to team, nervously)

They want me to go with them. Should I stay?! I'll go with them. I'll go. I'll be fine.

[He passes Shau'ri, who watches the proceedings a bit nervously.]

INT—TENT

[Daniel laughs as one woman scrubs his feet. More are combing his hair and washing his hands. Daniel is uncomfortable with the attention, but does not appear to want to offend.]

DANIEL
Okay. That's good. All right. What is that smell? Oh it's...okay. That's good. Okay. That's good. I think that's good. My hands are pretty clean. Thank you. Thank you very, very much.

[He stands, smiling as the women seem content with their ministrations and begin to leave.]

DANIEL
Thank you-That was very nice. Thank you. That was great. I smell much better.

[The last elderly woman turns back, smiling and bowing, saying something to him.]

DANIEL
Yes, thank you.

[Daniel sits on the blankets, looking around and sniffing himself.]

DANIEL
Oh, Christ. I smell like a yak.

[Shau'ri, wearing a shear red veil over her head, enters as he starts to put on his socks.]

DANIEL

(waving her off distractedly)

No, no. Please-no more. Please.

[Shau'ri continues to walk forward.]

DANIEL
Please, no more. I'm fine. I'm clean, I'm...

[Shau'ri stands before Daniel and drops her veil. He recognizes her and laughs in relief.]

DANIEL
Oh. I thought—heh-heh—you were one of the...cleaning...

[Daniel's voice trails off as Shau'ri continues to pull her top off her shoulders, baring her breasts. Daniel is distracted by the sight for a moment before realizing.]

DANIEL
No! No-no-no-no-no. You don't have to do that. Please?

[Shau'ri gasps in surprise as Daniel reaches out and tries to pull her top back up over her shoulders, covering her.]

DANIEL
Maybe you should go. Okay?

[Shau'ri stares in disappointment and shame.]

DANIEL
It's okay. Maybe you should go. No-no. It's okay, it's okay. It's all right. We're...here. Whoop, let me grab this.

[Daniel herds her to the entrance of the tent and pulls back the flap. Outside are Kasuf and some other elders, milling about. Kasuf stares in horror at the tent opening. He asks a question to Shau'ri in the native tongue. She shakes her head negatively. Kasuf prostrates himself and starts begging to Daniel in his language. Daniel looks from Kasuf to Shau'ri and seems to realize something. He smiles, trying to appease Kasuf.]

DANIEL

No-no-no-no-no. It's me. I wanted...to...thank you.
(he bows his head in thanks)

I wanted to—I'm happy—I'm very happy.

[He smiles and hugs Shau'ri very close to him.]

KASUF

(confused)

Eh?

DANIEL

(nodding)

Thank you.

[Daniel closes the tent flap, keeping Shau'ri inside with him. She goes and sits on the blankets, looking shyly away from him. Daniel crouches in front of her, uncertain.]

DANIEL
Uh...Daniel.

[He points to himself. Shau'ri points to herself.]

SHAU'RI
Daniel.

DANIEL
No—uh—I'm Daniel. Heh. I'm Daniel.

[He points again with both hands. Shau'ri smiles and points to herself.]

SHAU'RI
Shau'ri.

DANIEL
Shau'ri. You-uh-we-we came...uh...

[He begins to draw a pyramid in the sand. Shau'ri glances at what he's doing, then quickly looks away, scared and uncertain.]

DANIEL
Pyramid...see, we came-huh-from a...pyramid.

[He draws the ramp from they pyramid and mimes the team walking out from it. He looks up to see Shau'ri's discomfort.]

DANIEL
It's-it's okay. Never mind. It's okay.

[Shau'ri looks now that he's stopped drawing. Daniel smiles at her and stands, but looks disappointed. He paces the tent, peeking outside the flap. With him not watching, Shau'ri brushes away the ramp and movement, then uses the pyramid as a base to draw more. Daniel turns back and sees her drawing a circle on top of the pyramid. His eyes widen.]

DANIEL
Earth?

[Shau'ri looks up, uncertain what to do.]

DANIEL

(excited)

You-you, you know this symbol? You know this symbol? You've seen this symbol?

[He points from his eye down to the drawing. Shau'ri points from her eye to the drawing and nods.]

DANIEL
Show me. You show me.

[He reaches out his hand for her. She takes it and he pulls her up.]

EXT—PYRAMID, NIGHT

[The storm still rages outside.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[Ferretti is still trying to use the radio as the others eat MREs.]

FERRETTI

(into radio)

Kawalski, this is base. Do you copy?

[Freeman reaches over and shuts the radio off.]

FREEMAN
You're wasting the battery. We'll never get anything in this storm. We'll have to wait 'till it passes.

FERRETTI
Yeah, right. If it passes. You know, I was stationed in the Middle East. I've never seen anything like it.

FREEMAN
Yeah, yeah.

REILLY
I don't understand. Why don't we just...turn the 'gate back on ourselves?

PORRO
Yeah, how hard can it be?

FERRETTI

(sarcastically)

That would be great! Yet we could turn the thing in the wrong order and...materialize in the...vacuum of outer space. Do you have any idea how many possible combinations there are on that thing?

FREEMAN

(sarcastically)

No. How many?

FERRETTI
Shut up. Hmmm?

[The group laughs and exchange frustrated looks. A loud roar is heard.]

EXT—PYRAMID, NIGHT

[A spotlight shines down on the pyramid from above. A rattling starts.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[Everything shakes and the men look around nervously.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, NIGHT

[Ra's ship descends on top of the pyramid.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[The men ready their weapons and stand, looking around warily.]

FREEMAN
What the hell is going on?

[He cocks his rifle and the others do the same. The four circle in a defensive maneuver. Unlike the other three, Ferretti only holds a pistol.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, NIGHT

[The ship fully engulfs the pyramid, lightning arcing between the two.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[The men lose their balance at a final loud thump, quickly regaining their footing.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, NIGHT

[The ship locks down on the pyramid. Lights come on throughout the ship.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

FERRETTI
All right, spread out.

[The men comply, circling amongst the columns and scouting for danger.]

ANUBIS
Kree shak!

[Porro is knocked down and dragged away, his rifle left behind. Reilly sees that, but no enemy. He takes a few steps forward before he too is knocked in the head with a blunt object and falls.]

[Freeman and Ferretti remain. They hear another noise above them.]

EXT—PYRAMID, NIGHT

[Another layer of the ship opens, exposing more lights.]

INT—PYRAMID

[Ferretti gestures with his hand for Freeman to take point. He starts moving forward, going around the corner of a column, but seeing nothing but their equipment. From the other side of the column, he spots Ferretti also scouting around. Freeman moves to the next column, again seeing nothing.]

[While Freeman moves, Ferretti gets to the equipment, grabbing a larger gun and ammunition.]

[Freeman sees nothing, but hears something behind him. He turns, only to be knocked down with a cry from the enemy.]

[Anubis moves forward to take Ferretti from behind. Ferretti turns and fires his weapon just as Anubis reaches him, getting off several shots before being knocked to the ground. Ferretti looks up in shock. The enemy has gold jewelry representing a claw and a metal jackal head with blue glowing eyes. Ferretti, frightened, raises his hands in surrender.]

EXT—NAGADA CITY, NIGHT

[The storm still blows outside the city.]

INT—ROOM

[O'Neil uses his zippo lighter to light another cigarette. Skaara watches from the doorway with wonder. O'Neil hears his gasp and looks over.]

O'NEIL
It's okay, it's just a lighter.

[He closes the lid and beckons, demonstrating. Skaara takes a seat near O'Neil.]

O'NEIL
See? Here. Catch.

[He tosses the lighter to Skaara. Skaara tries himself and gets the flame lit.]

SKAARA

(amazed)

Hai!

O'NEIL

(bored)

Yeah, it's pretty fabulous.

[Skaara sees O'Neil with his cigarette and tentatively approaches, reaching for a Marlboro from O'Neil's pack. O'Neil shrugs in permission.]

O'NEIL
Yeah.

[Skaara sits back down and lights a cigarette, then trying to copy O'Neil's every move—flicking ashes, twirling the cigarette. Aware of what he's doing, O'Neil takes a large drag off his cigarette, holding it before exhaling slowly. Skaara starts to copy him, then starts choking. He coughs and shouts, dropping the cigarette and stomping it out. He turns to O'Neil with a disgusted expression as O'Neil smirks at him.]

O'NEIL
Yeah, you're right. It's pretty stupid.

[He puts out his own cigarette. Skaara picks up the lighter again, and brushing it off, offers it back to O'Neil. O'Neil waves him off.]

O'NEIL
Nah, you—keep it. It's yours.

[Skaara is surprised, then grins in pleasure. Curious, he reaches over the cigarettes to O'Neil's rifle. O'Neil glances over just as Skaara is pulling the gun out and slaps Skaara away.]

O'NEIL
NO!

[A frightened Skaara backs out. Kawalski and Brown look over from the other room, surprised.]

O'NEIL
Dangerous!

[Skaara runs out of the building.]

SKAARA

(from outside)

Kasuf! Kasuf!

[O'Neil sits back down, staring at the rifle before tossing it aside. He looks over to Kawalski and Brown, who studiously turn away. O'Neil continues to look unsettled.]

INT—CAVE

[Daniel and Shau'ri move rocks away from the cave entrance, enough to fit inside. Daniel goes first.]

DANIEL
What is this place?

[He looks around with a torch, helping Shau'ri step through the hole. The torch lights up the Earth glyph written on the wall. Daniel stares amazed at hieroglyphs on the wall. He begins muttering the Ancient Egyption words of the symbols as he goes.]

DANIEL
Cypian. Rem-e-n-jef. Bah-ka-naf-sema. Tah-parief. I'll be damned.

SHAU'RI

(repeating a variation of one of the words Daniel spoke)

Tah-pah-rief?

[He turns around, startled.]

DANIEL
Huh?

SHAU'RI

(hesitantly)

Tah-pah-rief?

DANIEL
Tah-pah-rief.

SHAU'RI

(nodding)

Tah-pah-rief?

DANIEL
Tah-pah-rief?

[Realizing, he points to another pictograph.]

DANIEL
Ned-jed? Ned-jed?

SHAU'RI

(correcting)

Neh-dah.

DANIEL
Neh-dah.

[Shau'ri smiles and nods.]

SHAU'RI

(nodding)

Tiu.

DANIEL

Tiu. Tiu.
(points to another symbol)

Uh...Netjer, netjer-u?

SHAU'RI
Natay. Naturu.

[She gestures to all the glyphs. He copies her.]

DANIEL
Nata. Na-tur-oo.

[He smiles, and she laughs.]

SHAU'RI
Na-fee!

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ferretti looks around as he's dragged on his back by the two alien guards. He's frightened as the guards drop him on his face, speaking the coarse alien langauge and kneeling before a large device that's shifting. The strange sarcophagus opens as Ferretti watches. He sees a human hand come out of the device before one of the guards notices his looking and knocks him into unconsciousness.]

EXT—NAGADA CITY, NIGHT

[The storm has settled.]

INT—TEAM'S QUARTERS

[Brown works the radio. Only static is heard.]

O'NEIL
No signal at all?

BROWN
Nothing.

O'NEIL
More interference?

BROWN
No. They're simply not there.

EXT—CITY STREETS, NIGHT

[Inside a mastadge pen, Skaara shows his prize to the other young boys of the village, explaining. He lights the lighter, and they all back away in fright. Skaara reassures them. They gather again. Nabeh tries to touch the flame, burning his finger. Skaara nods. It's really fire.]

O'NEIL
There's no sign of him?

KAWALSKI
I haven't been able to locate Jackson, sir.

[Skaara looks up to see Kawalski saluting to O'Neil further down the street. O'Neil notices the boys. He returns Kawalski's salute and walks toward the boys while Kawalski walks away in the other direction. O'Neil carries Daniel's tactical vest. The boys come out of the pen and join him.]

O'NEIL
We're lookin' for Jackson. Jackson? The guy who wears this jacket?

[He shows them the jacket.]

O'NEIL
He's got like long hair, that comes down.

[He pulls at his hair to describe. All the boys copy the gesture, thinking it a game.]

O'NEIL
No-no. No-no-no. No-its...He wears glasses—so he can see?

[He puts his hands in front of his eyes, fingers cupped as if binoculars. The boys copy this movement too. O'Neil looks around, but the streets are otherwise empty. He sighs.]

O'NEIL
I guess the word "dweeb" doesn't mean anything to you guys, does it? Yeah, why not. I'm on planet X, looking for a dweeb who wears green fatigues. He wears this jacket. He's got long hair. It comes over his eyes. He wears glasses, and..."choo"...sneezes.

[While speaking, O'Neil gestures to his uniform and mimes the description. The boys continue to mimic him in this strange game. After the sneeze, Skaara's eyes light up in realization.]

SKAARA
Ich! Bwah! Bwah-bwah-bwah.

[Skaara starts to mime Daniel's chicken impression at the dinner. The boys start to copy Skaara.]

O'NEIL
Chicken. Chicken! Chicken!

[O'Neil mimes Daniel tasting the chicken, pleased they're communicating. He and Skaara understand, while the other boys are still making clucking sounds.]

O'NEIL
Chicken man! You got it!

[Skaara turns around and gets the other boys to stop. Nabeh continues, only stopping with Skaara slaps his leg and scolds him. Skaara turns back to O'Neil, gesturing for the vest.]

O'NEIL
Wha—you want this?

[Skaara nods, speaking the native language. He takes the vest and runs over to another mastadge pen, speaking to the beast. The mastadge sniffs the vest, then starts trotting off. The boys follow as O'Neil watches.]

INT—CAVE

[Shau'ri and Daniel sit on the floor, talking with each other in the native tongue.]

O'NEIL
Thought you couldn't speak their language.

[Daniel jumps, startled, and stands, chuckling nervously.]

DANIEL
Huh? You scared me.

[O'Neil, Skaara, Kawalski, and Brown walk further into the cave. O'Neil looks angry. Daniel and Shau'ri move to meet them. Daniel gestures at the wall.]

DANIEL
It's an ancient Egyptian dialect. I mean, it's like the rest of their culture. It's evolved completely independently. But...uh...once you know the vowels....

O'NEIL
Just answer the question.

DANIEL
Well—uh. I-I me—I just had to learn how to pronounce it. I mean, it hasn't been a living, spoken language in more than one thousand years. I mean, look at this. It says, uh: "A traveler from distant stars escaped from a dying world looking for a way to extend his own life."

[Daniel points to icons on the wall showing an alien creature with the eye of Ra over his chest.]

FLASHBACK

[An alien creature, similar to the pictograph description, cries out as if in pain.]

DANIEL

(voiceover)

"His body, decaying and weak...he couldn't prevent his own demise." Apparently his whole species was becoming extinct. "So he travelled..."

END FLASHBACK

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
or "searched", "...the galaxies looking for a way to cheat death." And uh...look here.

[He points to another pictograph showing a pyramid with the sun above it. Humans as small figures below the pyramid. Another picture shows lights coming down from a pyramid, with a young boy under them all.]

FLASHBACK

[The alien ship awaking villagers in Ancient Egypt are again seen. The boy heads to the strange lights.]

DANIEL

(voiceover)

"He came to a world, rich with life, where he encountered a primitive race—humans." Heh. "A species which, with all his powers and knowledge, he could maintain indefinitely. He realized within a human body, he had a chance for a new life." Now, he apparently found a young boy. It says: "As the frightened villagers ran, night became day. Curious, and without fear, he walked towards the light."

[The boy walks to the strange lights as he's caught in a beam.]

END FLASHBACK

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
Ra took him and possessed his body—like some kind of a...parasite looking for a host. And inhabiting this human form, he appointed himself ruler.

[More pictographs show Ra as ruler over the people and an active Stargate with people walking through it.]

DANIEL
He used the Stargate to bring thousands of people here to this planet, as workers for the mines, just like the one we saw.

[Daniel moves over to another picture showing workers bring the mineral as offerings to Ra.]

DANIEL
This mineral is clearly the building block of all his technology. With this, he can sustain eternal life.

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra sits up from the sarcophagus.]

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
Now, something happened—where is it—back on Earth. A rebellion or uprising, and the Stargate was buried there.

[Another picture shows the uprising.]

FLASHBACK

[The people carry the bodies of the jackal headed guards, raising their weapon-filled arms.]

END FLASHBACK

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
Fearful of a rebellion here, Ra outlawed reading and writing. He didn't want the people to remember the truth.

[Kawalski comes back around the corner from where he'd been exploring another part of the cave.]

KAWALSKI
Jackson? I think you'd better take a look at this.

[Daniel and O'Neil follow Kawalski where Brown and Skaara are. A round stone, similar to the center of the Earth Stargate cover stone, is imbedded in the wall.]

DANIEL
That's it! That's what we're looking for! They must've hidden it here in hopes that one day the 'gate on Earth could be reopened. I knew they'd have it written down someplace.

[He stepps forward to the stone, wiping sediment off the markings. He stops when he feels a jagged edge where the stone has broken apart.]

DANIEL
Wait a minute. Where's the seventh symbol? It must have broken. It's gotta be here, somewhere. It's gotta-got it here.

[He bends down, frantically trying to find the missing piece on the ground. He finds two broken pieces and brushes away the dust, piecing them together. His face falls as he sees the smooth stone.]

DANIEL
It's worn out. I can't make it work without the seventh symbol.

O'NEIL
All right. That's it. Kawalski? Brown?

[O'Neil leaves. The others begin to follow.]

EXT—NAGADA CITY, DAY

[O'Neil, Kawalski, Brown, and Daniel leave the town. Daniel looks back. Shau'ri stands at the city gate watching them.]

KAWALSKI
Come on, Jackson.

[Daniel starts moving again, but continues to look back at Shau'ri. She watches sadly before moving away.]

EXT—DESERT, DAY

[The team walk across the dunes. Behind them, Skaara and the other boys follow, staying low to remain unobserved by the team.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID/RA'S SHIP, DAY

[The team crest the final dune and spot the space ship over the pyramid. They immediately drop to the ground, weapons at ready. O'Neil checks things out with binoculars.]

O'NEIL
What the hell is that?

[Brown cocks a pistol.]

BROWN

(handing the pistol to Daniel)

Here. You might need this.

[O'Neil cocks his rifle, gets up and starts running to the pyramid. The others eventually follow. Skaara sees them running inside.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[The team run into the pyramid. O'Neil heads for the equipment while Kawalski and Brown take guard positions behind columns. O'Neil finds Ferretti's spent ammunition. Daniel follows O'Neil to another column to also take a defensive spot.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[Skaara and the other boys run to the side of the pyramid, where the sandstorm has created a dune reaching almost to an upper window, which they can climb and see inside.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[O'Neil spots some of the alien guards.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, DAY

[Skaara, standing on one of friend's shoulders, peeks inside.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[Brown hears the enemy approaching and turns with his weapon. He's knocked back with the blunt edge of a staff weapon and before he can do anything else is blasted by it, killing him instantly. Skaara from the window, and Daniel from his hiding place both see Brown's death.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, DAY

[Skaara ducks back when the guard looks around, looking very worried as his friends chatter in concern.]

INT—ALIEN PYRAMID

[O'Neil sees Kawalski getting thrown back against the wall and knocked unconscious. He sees one of the enemy aiming a staff weapon, and Daniel unaware, still looking at Brown's body. He grabs Daniel's shirt and pulls him out of the line of fire.]

O'NEIL
Look out.

[Daniel and O'Neil run. O'Neil pausing to shoot at the enemy.]

DANIEL
Where are we going?!

[Daniel narrowly misses getting hit as O'Neil leads him down a corridor.]

INT—STARGATE CHAMBER, ALIEN PYRAMID

DANIEL
Why are we going to the Stargate? I can't make it work!

[O'Neil lights a flare and doesn't stop, heading to the bomb.]

O'NEIL
Stay right here, and shoot anything that comes down that ramp.

DANIEL
What are you doing?

O'NEIL
Just cover me.

[He puts down his flare and starts fooling with the remote. Daniel crouches low, watching the ramp, his pistol ready. O'Neil activates the remote. Daniel turns back and sees it. He leaves his position and moves closer to O'Neil.]

DANIEL
What is that? What are you looking for?

[O'Neil opens the panel. The storage chamber is empty; the bomb is missing.]

O'NEIL
It's gone.

[The circular section of the ceiling opens and rings lower. Daniel raises his pistol. A beam lowers, and the head guard, Anubis stands before them and makes an order in the alien tongue. Daniel's pistol arm shakes as he points it. Behind Anubis, the other two guards appear. All three aim their staff weapons.]

O'NEIL
Put it down, Jackson.

[Daniel slowly lowers the pistol.]

INT—THRONE ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Daniel and O'Neil ring aboard the ship with Anubis as their escort. They watch him deactivate the rings using a crystal on his hand decoration.]

ANUBIS
Yatta.

[He uses his staff weapon to nudge them towards the empty throne.]

EXT—RA'S SHIP, DAY

[More panels open and retract at the top of the space craft.]

INT—THRONE ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Light filters in as the outer panels' retraction creates "skylights" in the throne room. Anubis forces them to keep walking. The other two guards are there too. They use their staff weapons to sweep O'Neil and Daniel's feet out, forcing them to their knees.]

[From the top of a stairwell behind the throne, Ra and his entourage enter. The entourage is made up of young boys and girls. Ra himself is garbed in ornate robes. He wears an elaborate gold headpiece that looks like a pharoah's mask. It covers his face.]

RA
You have come here to destroy me.

[Two servants carry the bomb on a platter, setting it down between the throne and the prisoners.]

DANIEL
What is that? That's a bomb, isn't it. That's what you were looking for. What the hell were you thinking? What'd you come here for?

[O'Neil remains stoic and does not respond. Ra gestures to Anubis and gives an order in the alien tongue. Anubis presses a button on the side of his helmet. As he turns to the prisoners, it retracts, showing a human head. The other guards do so also. Ra too retracts his ornate pharoah headpiece, revealing himself to be the same boy taken by the Stargate so many millenia ago. The guards kneel beside Daniel and O'Neil.]

[O'Neil looks from Ra to the guard, then reaches out, knocking the guard back and taking his staff weapon. He fires and kills one of the guards, but hasn't quite turned before the other has his weapon primed. Daniel stands between the guard and O'Neil, raising his arms out wide.]

DANIEL
Wait! Na-ney! Stop! No!

[The guard fires.]

DANIEL
No!

[Daniel is killed by the staff blast. Immediately, the children rush and surround Ra, forming a human shield while O'Neil tries to fire. He hesitates, unwilling to shoot children. Anubis knocks O'Neil with the blunt side of the weapon, knocking him down. He continues to beat O'Neil with the weapon until Ra tells him to stop. Ra comes down from his throne. He looks at the unconscious O'Neil, then glares at Anubis with glowing eyes. He next moves to Daniel's body, noting and holding the Eye of Ra necklace around Daniel's neck.]

INT—RA'S WATERY CELL

[O'Neil is thrown into the water, coming up with fist raised, ready to fight. The water comes up to his chest.]

KAWALSKI
Colonel! It's me. You all right?

[Kawalski, Freeman, and Ferretti are all in the cell, Ferretti still seeming to be suffering from his head wound. They watch as the grate closes from above them, and Anubis smirks.]

ANUBIS
Hmph.

[O'Neil sees one dead body floating nearby, from the t-shirt, it's one of his men.]

KAWALSKI
Where's Jackson?

[O'Neil just looks at Kawalski in fear and shock.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, DAY

[Small space ships (death gliders) fly out of an opening in Ra's ship.]

EXT—BASE CAMP, DAY

[Skaara and the boys are raiding the camp supplies, finding several weapons. Skaara sees the death gliders fly off towards the city. He yells for the boys to take cover. All comply except Nabeh, who's fascinated by a helmet. Skaara grabs him, and while scolding, leads him into hiding. The death gliders race by overhead.]

EXT—NAGADA CITY, DAY

[People spot the death gliders' approach. One sounds an alarm on a large horn. Kasuf leaves his tent and looks up in alarm. He yells out warnings. The gates to the city close. The ships fire down on the city, shooting blasts and using some intercoms to speak to the people. Kasuf kneels beseechingly, but the ships continue to blast away, killing many and doing great damage to the town. After a few passes, the death gliders leave.]

[Skaara and the boys arrive only to see the destruction. He searches the bodies in shock. He finds Shau'ri tending to an injured girl. Shau'ri herself is bleeding from her head.]

SKAARA
Shau'ri. Shau'ri. What happened here?

SHAU'RI
Ra punished us.

SKAARA
Why?

SHAU'RI
What happened to Daniel?

[Skaara looks away in shock.]

SHAU'RI
What happened to Daniel?

[Skaara looks away, unwilling to answer. Shau'ri realizes and begins to weep. Skaara moves away.]

[Skaara reaches Kasuf just as he is using his own cloak to cover one of the bodies.]

KASUF
Son, we should not have helped the strangers.

[Skaara looks back, sadly.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, NIGHT

INT—SARCOPHAGUS CHAMBER, RA'S SHIP

[Daniel takes a large gulp of air and sits up, pulling some sheer material off his face. He looks around, gulping breaths while getting his bearings. He then looks at his side where the staff blast struck him. The material is still torn, but his body is completely healed, not even leaving a scar. He steps out of the sarcophagus watching it close itself.]

[Behind him, a boy approaches, carrying a cat. He laughs at Daniel. When Daniel turns, he moves away. Daniel follows him.]

INT—THRONE ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[The boy leaves the cat on the throne and runs away. Daniel walks down the staircase behind the throne, stopping and petting the cat. He looks around for the boy, then follows him.]

INT—BATHING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Ra steps out of his tub, being dried and clothed by servants. Daniel enters the room, stepping through several curtains. Ra turns in profile, smiling before walking away without acknowledging Daniel.]

INT—BED CHAMBER, RA'S SHIP

[They move into another area, the servants continuing to layer Ra with more clothing and jewelry.]

DANIEL
I was dead?

[Ra looks directly at him at this point.]

RA
That is why I chose your race...your bodies...so easy to repair. You have advanced much—harnessed the power of the atom.

[Daniel approaches, noticing the bomb and several of his books, opened and strewn about.]

DANIEL
What are you going to do?

RA
You should not have reopened the gate. Soon, I will send your weapon back to your world with a shipment of our mineral which will increase your weapon's destructive power a hundred fold.

[He stretches out his arms for the servants to adorn his arms and fingers with the jewelry.]

DANIEL
Why would you do that?

RA
I created your civilization. Now, I will destroy it.

[Ra stands, and after getting adorned with a final ornamental breastplate, starts walking slowly to Daniel.]

RA
But before my workers question my authority, you will prove that I am their one god by killing your companions.

DANIEL
If I refuse?

RA
Then I will destroy you, and all who have seen you.

[He stands in front of Daniel, grabbing his necklace and yanking it off him while his eyes glow with anger.]

RA
There can be only one Ra!

INT—CAVE

[Shau'ri studies the pictures on the wall. Skaara and Nabeh approach.]

SKAARA
Shau'ri, Ra has called an assembly... an execution.

SHAU'RI
Skaara, Nabeh, I want you to listen.

[She beckons them to come forward. Nabeh starts, with several of the boys following.]

SHAU'RI
We can't let this happen. I want you to know what Daniel told me about where our people came from, and why we can no longer live as slaves.

[They look around in wonder at the drawings.]

EXT—ALIEN PYRAMID, DAY

[Everyone is assembled in the sands around the pyramid. Ornate curtains and carpet adorn the entrance. Members of Ra's entourage already wait, and Ra's throne has been placed in a prominent spot at the top of the ramp to the pyramid. Ra steps out and speaks to the prostrated throng. They stand. Freeman, O'Neil, Kawalski, and Ferretti are kneeling halfway down the ramp, surrounded by two of the guards. Ra sits in his throne. Skaara and Shau'ri work their way through the crowd.]

[Daniel steps out of the pyramid. The team look at him in amazement. Daniel locks eyes with O'Neil. Anubis forces Daniel to take the staff weapon. Anubis points at the team and speaks an order in the alien tongue. Slowly Daniel walks down the ramp. Skaara exchanges a knowing smile with Shau'ri. He uses O'Neil's lighter to reflect the sun into Daniel's eyes. Daniel looks around, searching for the source of the unwanted glare. He spots Skaara and pauses.]

[Skaara puts the lighter down now that Daniel has seen him. O'Neil notices something is up, but does not look around to give anything away. Daniel slowly raises the staff weapon, then looks again at Skaara, who shows the rifle hidden under his cloak. Daniel primes the staff weapon, and after a pregnant moment, spins around and shoots towards the throne. His blast goes wild, but immediately, Skaara, Nabeh, and the other boys start shooting their weapons into the air.]

[The team run in the ensuing panic. Some of the boys are waiting to cover them in the sand colored clothes to hide them from the guards. Anubis orders the guards to fire. They aim at the escaped prisoners. Upon the second shot, Freeman is killed. Kawalski tries to fight against the fleeing crowd to go back to him.]

KAWALSKI
Freeman! Freeman!

[He's forced to continue moving.]

O'NEIL
Jackson, come on! Over there! Come on! Kawaski!

[The guards continue to fire into the crowd. O'Neil and Daniel are shoved onto a waiting mastadge, using it to flee. Skaara fires his weapon again as cover. A guard fires at the mastadge as they flee. Shau'ri watches Daniel and O'Neil ride off before running from the approaching guards. They pause again to make sure they've cleared the area.]

EXT—DESERT, NIGHT

[There is another terrible windstorm. O'Neil and Daniel no longer ride the mastadge, using its bulk to protect them from worst of the storm. Daniel collapses. O'Neil looks back and sees him on the sand.]

O'NEIL
Jackson! Come on! Come on!

[The mastadge stops and turns around. O'Neil covers Daniel with his body as the sand starts to cover them.]

[Skaara and a group of the boys hear then spot the mastadge. They reach the pair, a startled O'Neil almost striking Skaara before recognizing him. They help Daniel to his feet and head to shelter.]

INT—CAVES

[Skaara and his small team lead O'Neil and Daniel inside. The rest of the rebels are already there, as well as Kawalski and Ferretti.]

SKAARA
To our victory!

[The crowd cheers.]

SKAARA
We recovered your weapons.

[Pleased, he offers his rifle to O'Neil. O'Neil stares around in shock.]

KAWALSKI
Here, Colonel.

[He offers O'Neil some water. Nearby, Shau'ri tends to Daniel, who is coughing. O'Neil continues to watch the youths handle the rifles.]

KAWALSKI
So, whaddya think? I mean, they're not exactly special forces, but they sure were eager to join up.

[O'Neil puts down his water and grabs guns away from some of the youths.]

O'NEIL
Take these guns away, Lieutenant (sic.) before they hurt themselves.

KAWALSKI

(confused)

Sir?

O'NEIL
You heard me, send 'em all home.

KAWALSKI
There's no place for these kids to go. Anyway, we could sure use their help right now.

O'NEIL
For what? Huh? To do what?!

[Everyone is stunned at O'Neil's outburst. O'Neil himself is shaking.]

DANIEL
Why don't you just tell them everything? Why don't you tell them about the bomb?

KAWALSKI
What's he talking about?

O'NEIL
My orders were simple. Track down signs of any possible danger. If I found any, blow up the Stargate. Well, I found some.

DANIEL
Well, your bomb is his now. And tomorrow he's going to send it back to Earth. Along with a shipment of that mineral they mine here. And when that thing goes off, it's going to cause an explosion a hundred times more destructive than that bomb alone is capable of.

O'NEIL
I'll intercept that bomb before he can send it through.

KAWALSKI
Why wasn't I told all this?

O'NEIL
Because there wasn't any reason to tell you, Kawalski. You weren't even supposed to be here. You were all gonna go right back through with Daniel. I was gonna stay behind alone and blow up the Stargate, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do.

DANIEL
It's the 'gate on Earth that poses a threat. That's the one that we have to shut down.

O'NEIL
You're absolutely right. But since you don't know how to get us back, we don't have that option, do we?

[O'Neil and Daniel stare at each other. O'Neil turns to Skaara, who hugs his gun. O'Neil shakes his head and walks away.]

INT—THRONE ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Ra angrily paces, tearing down the curtains around his throne. Horus and another guard stand at attention to one side.]

RA
Where are they?

ANUBIS
Answer.

HORUS
We looked everywhere. Some kids are helping them.

[Ra approaches.]

EXT—OUTSIDE CAVES, NIGHT

[The winds still howl. Two mastadges are sheltered by the rocks as Nabeh and another bring water to the animals.]

INT—CAVES

[Daniel approaches the alcove where O'Neil sits alone, brooding.]

DANIEL
You had accepted the fact that no matter what happened, you would not be going home? Don't you have people who care about you? Do you have a family?

O'NEIL
I had a family. No one should ever have to outlive their own child.

DANIEL
I don't wanna die. Your men don't want to die. And these people here don't want to die. It's a shame you're in such a hurry to.

[Skaara approaches. Daniel steps back, watching as Skaara offers O'Neil water. O'Neil looks back at Daniel. Skaara offers the water again.]

INT—THRONE ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Ra opens up a chamber and places a ribbon device over his hand, the weapon sparking as he puts it on. Ra's eyes glow and he turns back to his guards.]

RA
How could you let them escape?!

[Ra activates the device, using a telekinetic force to throw the guard back against a wall.]

RA
I will not accept failure!

[Ra storms over to the frightened guard, placing his hand on the guard's head and ribboning him to death. Horus and Anubis watch worriedly. The child entourage also look disturbed.]

INT—CAVE

[Daniel scoops some water from one of the pots. Several of the boys laugh. Daniel looks around, smiling uncertainly.]

DANIEL
Why are you laughing?

NABEH
Husbands don't do this work.

[The boys laugh again. Shau'ri arrives just in time to hear this comment and pauses.]

DANIEL

(in English)

Husband?!

[Shau'ri hurriedly walks past the group into another room broken off with a broken curtain. She starts grinding grain forcefully. Daniel follows her into the room and sits across from her. Nabeh follows and watches from the doorway. Daniel waits until she looks at him before speaking.]

DANIEL

(gently)

Married?

[Shau'ri looks at the grain again.]

SHAU'RI
Don't be angry. I didn't tell them.

DANIEL
Tell them what?

SHAU'RI

(haltingly)

That you did not want me.

[She looks down, but Daniel tilts her chin up, leaning forward and kissing her. Skaara and Nabeh watch, smiling. Skaara closes the curtain to give them privacy.]

EXT—DESERT, DAY

INT—CAVES

[Skaara starts drawing on one of the cave walls. Daniel warms his hands by the fire embers. Everyone else is asleep.]

DANIEL
What are you drawing?

SKAARA

(smiling)

The day of our victory.

[Daniel sees the drawing is the pyramid with three circles for the three moons. He stands up and comes closer. He begins drawing himself.]

DANIEL

(drawing lines)

Connect the moons. This is the symbol for this planet. That's it. The point of origin.

[Kawalski approaches.]

KAWALSKI
What are you doing?

DANIEL
I found it!

KAWALSKI
What are you talking about?

DANIEL
The seventh symbol. We're going home!

EXT—MINE, DAY

[The thousands of workers are toiling at the mines. Horus approaches one struggling with a heavy load. He scolds him in the alien tongue and beats him. Immediately, O'Neil's team, Skaara, and several others remove their local hoods and brandish their weapons. O'Neil fires a staff blast, killing Horus. Kasuf hurries, yelling, alarmed.]

O'NEIL
Let's go.

KASUF
You will bring disaster to all of us, son.

SKAARA
Father, we will not live as slaves!

[Kasuf pulls people down to kneel with him, beginning to pray. Skaara screams Na-ney and argues with him. Daniel notices all this.]

DANIEL
Kasuf. Take a look at your gods.

[He reaches to the dead guard and pushes the button on his helmet, revealing Horus.]

DANIEL
Take a good look.

[Kasuf stands, looking at the very human guard.]

INT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Ra watches through the skylight as a caravan approaches the pyramid.]

RA
The caravan is approaching. Send the bomb down to the Stargate.

ANUBIS
Shay mu.

[Guards take the bomb and head to the ring platform.]

INT—PYRAMID

[The guards ring down into the pyramid. One speaks to the other through his helmet. They carry the device to the Stargate.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Skaara is one of the caravan, looking warily at the guards. He stays by the mastadge as the others struggle to carry the heavy "offering" up the steps.]

INT—PYRAMID

[The guards set the bomb down in front of the Stargate.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Shau'ri and O'Neil exchange looks as they carry the offering up the steps. As they pass, one of guards gets suspicious and follows them inside.]

[Below, Kawalski, Skaara, Ferretti, Nabeh, and others wait by the mastadges. They see the guard follow the others inside.]

FERRETTI
What's happening up there?

INT—PYRAMID

[The guards escort the pilgrims. A commander stops and questions the escort. The one who had looked at the pilgrims oddly says something to his commander. He then reaches forward and yanks the hood off the pilgrim's head. It is a young native man. The other guard pulls the hood off the first pilgrim on the other side, revealing another native youth. The first guard turns to the second pilgrim, yanking off the hood to reveal O'Neil, who raises his rifle and smirks at the guard.]

O'NEIL
How 'ya doin? Eh?

[He winks just before firing his rifle at the guard, killing him.]

[On the other side, Daniel backs away from the guard, keeping Shau'ri behind him as he shoots with his pistol, killing him. There's a firefight. One of the boys is killed.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The rest of the caravan can hear the firefight.]

KAWALSKI
Damn! C'mon, Ferretti!

[Kawalski, Ferretti, Skaara, Nabeh and the others pull their weapons and run to join the others.]

INT—PYRAMID

[The firefight continues. Daniel pulls Shau'ri with him to cover as he keeps firing. O'Neil fires, then takes cover behind a column to reload. Shau'ri yells something to Daniel as she holds her own pistol, ready to fire.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[A stone door begins to seal the pyramid shut. The caravan races to get there before it closes.]

KAWALSKI
Get that door!

[A guard fires his staff weapon, blocking their advance just before the door seals them out. The blast concussion knocks them all off their feet.]

INT—PYRAMID

[Daniel and O'Neil see their friends fall and that they're trapped. O'Neil, furious, spins and shoots the Jaffa who fired at the doorway, killing him.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Two death gliders fly out of the ship.]

[Below, the youths and Ferretti and Kawaski shakily get to their feet.]

KAWALSKI

(to Skaara)

Hey, you okay? You all right?

[One of the boys sees the death gliders. He points them out and yells a warning. They scatter to the outer columns for the relative protection they offer.]

KAWALSKI
Cover!

INT—PYRAMID

[O'Neil hears the death glider fire and feels the shaking.]

O'NEIL

(to Daniel)

Let's go!

[He heads to the Stargate room.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra lounges at a table, playing a game with one of his entourage. The child is distracted by the sounds of battle.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The group is huddled in front of the sealed doorway. The death gliders continue to strafe the area with fire.]

FERRETTI
We're dead!

KAWALSKI
Not yet.

FERRETTI
Well, what are we gonna do?!

KAWALSKI
Cover me!

[An unarmed Kawalski starts running down the ramp.]

FERRETTI
Cover you?! Kawalski!

[Kawalski continues to run. Frustrated, Ferretti follows, firing his rifle up at the death gliders. After a moment, Skaara follows, also firing his rifle. The other boys follow.]

[Kawalski reaches the remains of the caravan cart and starts shoving it over.]

KAWALSKI
Come over and help me push this thing over!

[Ferretti and the boys help.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Most of the entourage actively watches the battle from the skylight. The boy playing with Ra keeps looking to the window. Enraged, Ra scatters the game pieces, yelling at the child.]

RA
Send the bomb to Earth now!

ANUBIS
I will send it myself!

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[O'Neil jogs into the room, finding the bomb in front of the Stargate. He puts his weapon aside and starts to assemble the device. Daniel and Shau'ri enter, Shau'ri still carries her pistol; Daniel's pistol is tucked in his belt, and he carries a staff weapon.]

DANIEL
What are you doing?

O'NEIL
Completing this mission.

DANIEL
I thought we agreed to dismantle the 'gate on the other side?

O'NEIL
And you will. That's your job now. I'm gonna stay here, make sure this goes off.

[Daniel watches in horror as O'Neil arms the bomb timer.]

O'NEIL
You've got seven minutes.

[Shau'ri sees a guard enter the room. She raises her pistol.]

SHAU'RI
Daniel!

[The guard shoots Shau'ri.]

SHAU'RI
Daniel!

[Daniel shoots at the guard several times, killing him, before rushing over to Shau'ri, checking for life signs. She's dead. O'Neil approaches. He and Daniel exchange looks.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Anubis activates the rings to go to the pyramid.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[Daniel sees the ring device opening. He lifts Shau'ri in his arms and carries her to the rings.]

O'NEIL
What are you doing? Jackson?

[Daniel and Shau'ri enter the ring transporter. He exchanges a look with O'Neil.]

DANIEL

(desperately)

Wait for me.

[A shocked O'Neil glances back at the bomb. The timer is at 6:08 and counting down. He turns back to the rings to find Anubis has arrived. Anubis immediately strikes O'Neil with his staff weapon and they begin to fight in close quarters.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Daniel hurries through the ship, checking if anyone is nearby before making his way to the sarcophagus chamber. He places Shau'ri inside. The device automatically closes as Daniel watches.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[The timer is now at 4:14 and still counting as O'Neil and Anubis continue to fight. O'Neil hits the button that retracts Anubis's helmet, but Anubis is able to elbow O'Neil in the kidney, making him collapse. O'Neil spins, trying to take Anubis down. They struggle for control of the staff weapon before Anubis smiles and breaks the device in half.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The death gliders continue to fire at the group. They have arranged the caravan carts into a makeshift foxhole. Nabeh has not run down the ramp with the others and is still at the doorway. Skaara yells for him to come. Smiling, Nabeh starts running to them. A death glider comes around, firing. Nabeh disappears in the smoke of the blast, the military helmet he was wearing is the only thing that rolls out of the smoke.]

SKAARA
Na-ney! Nabeh!

[Ferretti holds Skaara back as he tries to run out to where Nabeh was last seen.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra slowly moves to the window to look at the battle himself.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The group shoot at the death gliders from their position. Some of the boys are hit.]

[Kawalski runs out of bullets for his gun. He reaches for another, but it too is empty. Skaara struggles with his own weapon to make it fire.]

KAWALSKI
You got any reds at all, Ferretti?!

FERRETTI
We're all out of ammo! Incoming!

[Kawalski grabs Skaara and covers him with his body as the death glider flies overhead. More of the boys are hit by the latest blast.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra smiles at how the battle is going.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[O'Neil reaches out for Shau'ri's pistol, still left on the floor. Anubis kicks his arm away before he can fire and uses his claw-bejewled hand to scratch O'Neil's back deeply. O'Neil cries out in pain, but stands. He and Anubis trade blows. He's able to knock Anubis back, then notices the bomb timer is at 3:17. He reaches to stop it, but Anubis stops him. They continue to trade blows, O'Neil desperately trying to deactivate the timer, but can't quite reach it.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[They tend to the wounded and huddle in their makeshift bunker, unable to return fire.]

FERRETTI
Kawalski, we've gotta do something.

[Kawalksi stands up and heads out of their bunker.]

SKAARA
Na-ney! Na-ney!

[Ferretti holds Skaara back as Kawalski steps out of the bunker, waving his arms up at the death gliders.]

KAWALSKI
Hey!

[Skaara struggles against Ferretti, shouting in his own language.]

KAWALSKI
Hey!

[The death glider passes overhead, but does not fire.]

INT—SARCOPHAGUS ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[As Daniel watches, the sarcophagus opens. Daniel swallows, watching expectantly. Shau'ri is not yet conscious, but Daniel grabs her anyway, hurrying as he carries her back to the rings.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The death gliders have landed and their pilots walk towards the caravan group. Kawalski stands with his hands raised in surrender and Ferretti begins to join him. Skaara shakes his head in disbelief and scolds his friends who are following them.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra watches the surrender, then is distracted by footsteps. He spots Daniel passing by carrying Shau'ri.]

[Daniel reaches the rings, setting Shau'ri down gently within the circle.]

RA
I am no longer amused.

[Daniel spins around startled. Ra begins to ribbon him.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[Anubis tosses O'Neil through the air. O'Neil spots the timer is now at 2:12. He rises and heads to Anubis again, blocking his blow and gaining the advantage, punching the guard several times.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Ra continues to ribbon Daniel; his eyes glow.]

RA
You will die together.

[Daniel is helpless under the device. Shau'ri starts to stir.]

INT—RING ROOM, PYRAMID

[O'Neil continues to punch Anubis, knocking him to the floor by the rings. He holds one hand down with his knee and then grasps Anubis's other hand, noticing the ring activation jewel amongst the claw jewelry.]

O'NEIL
Give my regards to King Tut, asshole!

[He slams Anubis's hand down so the impact activates the device. Anubis's head and chest are within the rings. Anubis shakes his head in fear and denial as the rings come down.]

ANUBIS
Na-ney! Na-ney!

[He screams in pain.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[The rings begin to activate. Ra notices and is distracted, rearing back instinctively. Daniel uses the opportunity to shove the ribbon device aside, using his other hand to yank Catherine's necklace off Ra's neck. He pulls back just as the rings surround him and Shau'ri.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[O'Neil continues to hold Anubis's body down. It stills.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Daniel disappears before Ra's eyes. Ra screams in frustration. He stares at Anubis's head that was left in Daniel and Shau'ri's place and growls, backing away.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[O'Neil still gasps with exertion as he watches Daniel and Shau'ri appear in front of him. Both are only semi-conscious. O'Neil looks back at the timer. It's down to 1:53. He heads to the bomb. He reaches over and hits the kill switch to deactivate it. He turns away, then notices the timer is still counting down past 1:43. He pulls out the timer. The timer continues, down to 1:33 now. He desperately starts pulling at the device.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[A frustrated Skaara joins the others. The guards prime their staff weapons, making the prisoners jump. Behind the guards, Kasuf appears at the top of the dune, shouting something. The guards turn. All across the horizon, the thousands of natives appear, shouting and trilling at the guards. Kasuf leads them in attack. The prisoners stand, confused, then happy. The guards start to fire at the natives, but there are too many. The boys cheer. Skaara climbs up and stands on the bunker, taking it all in.]

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra sees the defeat of his guards from the ship.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Skaara watches, pleased, as his people raise the bodies of the guards above their heads, just as depicted in the caves from their ancestors' uprising in Egypt.]

INT—SARCOPHAGUS ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[Ra activates controls to start the ship. The skylights close.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Skaara and the others watch as the ship begins to rise from the pyramid.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[Daniel shakily heads over to O'Neil. The room vibrates from the ship leaving. O'Neil struggles with the bomb.]

DANIEL
How much time do we have left?

O'NEIL
About forty-five seconds.

DANIEL
He's leaving. Turn it off!

O'NEIL
I'm trying to. I can't disarm it.

DANIEL
What?

O'NEIL
I can't stop it! They've got it rigged.

[He stops trying to force it and leans back. Daniel watches as it counts down to forty seconds.]

[Shau'ri awakens and backs away from the headless corpse of Anubis.]

[O'Neil and Daniel notice the shaking from the ship leaving. As the bomb ticks past thirty-eight seconds, they look from each other over to where Shau'ri is moving away from the rings and back at each other.]

O'NEIL

DANIEL

I've got an idea.

EXT—SPACE

[Ra's ship is in orbit over the planet.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[The rings activate. An upset Ra cautiously moves over to see what has arrived.]

EXT—SPACE

[Something beams up to the ship from the planet.]

INT—RING ROOM, RA'S SHIP

[The bomb arrives on the ship, counting down from six seconds. Ra's eyes glow as he sees the device. He leaves his human form as the bomb counts down to zero. Ra screams as it explodes.]

EXT—SPACE

[Ra's ship blows up above the planet.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[Daniel, Shau'ri and O'Neil have joined the others outside the pyramid. They all can see the explosion in the sky.]

EXT—SPACE

[The blast wave filters out through space.]

EXT—PYRAMID, DAY

[The crowd cheers at the defeat of Ra. They look at the wave of people. Skaara heads up the ramp, looking at O'Neil. As Daniel and Shau'ri watch, Skaara and the boys salute O'Neil. Amused, Kawalski and Ferretti salute as well. O'Neil smiles and returns the salute. Shau'ri and Daniel kiss. Kasuf raises his hands and the crowd quiets. He shouts something which the crowd joins.]

INT—STARGATE ROOM, PYRAMID

[Time has passed and O'Neil is fully geared up in his military fatigues. Skaara and several of the boys are there. O'Neil shakes hands with Skaara. Ferretti and Kawalski are walking with Daniel up to the active Stargate. Daniel still wears native robes.]

FERRETTI
I always knew you'd get us back.

DANIEL

(laughing)

Yeah, right.

FERRETTI

(slapping Daniel on the arm)

Later.

[Kawalski shakes Daniel's hand.]

KAWALSKI
Thanks, Daniel.

[He follows Ferretti through the event horizon. O'Neil reaches Daniel.]

O'NEIL
You sure you want to do this?

DANIEL
Yes. I'm sure.

O'NEIL
You gonna be all right?

[They both look back at Shau'ri, who smiles at Daniel.]

DANIEL
I'm gonna be all right. How 'bout you?

[O'Neil considers the question seriously.]

O'NEIL
Yeah.

[He and Daniel exchange smiles. O'Neil chuckles.]

O'NEIL
Yeah, I think so.

[They shake hands. O'Neil starts up the final few steps, but Daniel holds him back.]

DANIEL
Tell Catherine this brought me luck.

[He drops the Eye of Ra necklace into O'Neil's hand. O'Neil looks at him.]

O'NEIL
I will.

[He stands framed by the active wormhole, then pauses.]

O'NEIL
I'll be seeing you around, Doctor Jackson.

[He steps through the Stargate.]
