Summary
Col. John Michaels was the commanding officer of Captain Jack O'Neill's patrol. They were sent to East Germany in 1982 to extract a Russian named Boris, thinking that the country estate where he was being held was less guarded than it actually was. The mission failed and Col. Michaels was killed. He asked Jack to take care of his wife, Barbara, before he died. It was with this mission that the Keeper of the virtual reality simulation chairs on the planet designated P7J-989 attempted to entice Jack to remain in the simulations by giving him the opportunity to try different tactics in order that the mission succeed.
