The Satedans' homeworld was destroyed by the Wraith seven years ago, but there are about 300 survivors scattered throughout the Pegasus Galaxy. They call the Stargate the Ring of the Ancestors. One of the Satedans, Ronon Dex, joined Sheppard's team not long after they rescued him as a "runner", a tagged prey in the Wraith's ritual hunt.
