Hewlett, Momoa, and Luttrell Appear at Con

Today, David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell, and Jason Momoa appeared at the Creation Stargate Contention in Burbank, California. All were in great spirits and entertained the audience into fits of laughter, especially for the 45 minutes when they were on stage together. A complete con report will follow, but here are a few hot news items:.

  • Jason looks very good after his injuries, with only very thin red marks visible on the left side of his face. Most of the damage from the glass was around his eye, which he kept covered with sun glasses to protect it from light. He said he’s very grateful he didn’t lose his eye or his sight. Although he can’t see well from it right now, it will heal. He also said his tear ducts are “messed up”, requiring him to dab at his eye with a tissue. Still he was in very good spirits. He noted that chicks like scars. He did mention the guy who attacked him is in jail.
  • Rachel Luttrell said no one on the cast has been officially contacted about the Stargate Atlantis movie, and it’s only through the grapevine that they’ve heard it might be filmed next June. So, they are not at the point of negotiating contracts. Both Rachel and David seemed disappointed there was nothing definite yet.
  • David is busy writing, and now thinking of bringing his Starcrossed behind-the-scenes sci fi comedy concept to a film in some form, rather than as a Sci Fi Channel series. He didn’t clarify what had happened to the previous plans, in which Starcrossed had been green-lit as a series by Sci Fi. However he said the Sanctuary model has inspired him and others to seek alternate ways to funding and production

That’s the actual production news I can recall. Full report and photos to follow in the next few days!

Jason Momoa Attacked in LA Cafe (Updated)

Jason Momoa as Ronon Dex (S4)

This word just released by the Los Angeles Times about the incident that occurred Saturday, November 15:

Man charged in attack on ‘Stargate Atlantis’ actor Jason Momoa
12:06 PM, November 21, 2008

A 21-year old man who allegedly attacked and injured an actor from the television series “Stargate Atlantis” was charged today with assault with a deadly weapon.

The L.A. County district attorney’s office said Venice resident Dominic Bando argued with actor Jason Momoa on Nov. 15 at a cafe on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood. Bando allegedly struck Momoa in the face with a pint beer glass, which shattered in the actor’s face, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Victoria Pasternack. Momoa needed 140 stitches during reconstructive surgery.

Bando is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 10, and was released on $30,000 bail. He already was on probation for a March conviction for carrying a loaded firearm, the D.A.’s office said. Momoa, who also appeared in three seasons of “Baywatch,” plays character Ronon Dex on “Stargate Atlantis.”

–James Wagner

ETA: Producer and writer Joseph Mallozzi posted this note in his weblog to reassure everyone about Momoa’s condition: “To the many fans out there concerned about Jason Momoa, I spoke to the big guy this afternoon and he’s doing fine. He’s on the mend, in usual high spirits, and looking forward to eventually coming down to Vancouver and kicking some alien ass. I let him know you were all worried about him and he greatly appreciates the thoughts and well-wishes.”

SGU Audition Sides Reveal Characters, Technology

Stargate Universe Banner from MGM

Auditioning for the cast of the new Stargate television series Stargate Universe is still ongoing as additional information for three of the regular characters has just recently become available.

The following contains possible spoilers, but it must be noted that the information is coming from audition sides and not necessarily from an actual script. As with the audition sides put together for Tamara Johanson [or Jon], Eli Hitchcock, and Jared Nash, these audition sides might simply be to obtain a feel for the actors’ ranges, rather than reflect actual story points.

As stated in the casting breakdown made available by Stargate actor Morris Chapdelaine in his blog, Col. Everett Young is in his 40s, handsome, capable, and a former SG team leader. He’s a newlywed, was the commander of an off-world base, and is very much like Jack O’Neill in doing whatever it takes to see that his people survive. Unfortunately, like O’Neill, Young has lost people under his command before, an experience that has given him a sharp edge.

In Young’s audition sides, Young shows his rather tough and in-charge side against Dr. David Rush, who is mentioned by creative consultant Joseph Mallozzi as his favorite new character. “Oh, he’s going to be a handful,” Mallozzi declared. Rush was not listed as a permanent member of the SGU cast of characters, however, so his appearance beyond the pilot remains to be seen.

In the audition sides, Rush and Young discuss a lottery that is to be held for selecting a small crew to fly the shuttle to a planet from the Destiny. Rush and Young have obvious animosity, revealing that Rush thinks that he should be in command rather than Young; Rush believes Young is in command by “circumstances” only. Young calls Rush a “self-serving prick” and things stay pretty much at that level throughout the scene.

Additional characters who are mentioned in the sides who might appear in the pilot are “Scott” and “TJ”. Scott is a pilot and the prime candidate to fly the shuttle to the planet. TJ has great survival skills. Rush proposes that Stasiak (that’s Ron “Psycho” Stasiak, a 20-year-old Marine) take his own place on the shuttle because he’s strong, capable, and will help the crew survive, and Young is surprised at the recommendation because he thinks Rush hates Stasiak.

SGU Shuttle Bridge (image from Sci Fi Wire)

Some of the concept art for the shuttle mentioned in the audition sides was published by SCI FI WIRE, but Mallozzi said that the final design decisions for the Destiny itself have yet to be made, but they’re close. The Ancient Shuttle design is supposedly older than the Puddle Jumper’s, which was known to have existed when Atlantis was still located on Earth in Antarctica some five to ten million years ago. The mission of the Destiny was started by the Ancients at the height of their civilization and before the plague swept through the galaxy, which caused them to turn their attention away from exploring the universe to attempting to achieve ascension. It is possible that the Ancient Shuttle can fit through the Stargate like the Puddle Jumper and be used in the same way as the Atlantis Expedition used the small craft, but the audition sides didn’t make it clear exactly how the Shuttle was being used (i.e., through the Stargate or directly to the planet), and the concept art makes the Shuttle look too large to fit through a “standard” Stargate.

In a rather bizarre scene from the audition sides for Chloe Carpenter, Chloe and Eli Hitchcock use the long range communications devices to inhabit people’s bodies on Earth and infiltrate a bar where Chloe, in the body of someone else, finds out what her “friends” really think of her. Chloe finds out that these people associated with her only because she is the daughter of a US Senator. Eli tries to comfort her, saying that the only person who really cares for what happens to him is his mother. They are both scared being trapped on the ship, but can’t deny the excitement of it all. They also realize that using the communications devices to live out their lives is not right and in Eli’s words, “screwed up”.

Vala uses Daniel as a communications conduit in Crusade

These devices sound similar to the ones that require the long range communications terminal and stones that Daniel and Vala used in “Avalon Part 2” and “Origin Part 3” when they initially made contact with the Ori in their distant galaxy. This technology is older than even the Stargate, having been part of the Altera-Ori society long before the Altera arrived in the Milky Way galaxy (which has been estimated to have been at least 50 million years ago based on the crystal technology found in the DHD with the Antarctic Stargate).

After Carter developed an emulator, Vala was able to make contact with SG-1 through Daniel, whose data was used as a baseline for the emulator in “Crusade”. The technology worked something like this: If one side of the connection merely has a stone, or a stone emulator, then the one with the terminal and stone takes over the other’s body. It appears that the Destiny has similar technology, but it’s not certain if Chloe and Eli were inhabiting the bodies of volunteers or unwilling participants nor whether or not there was a need for stones or stone emulators to complete the link to the people on Earth.

Use of this long range communications device might be how the crew of the Destiny will stay in touch with Earth while unable to physically return home (via the Stargate or the ship itself). It might also shed some light on Mallozzi’s recent statement: “[Earth] will play a part in SGU – but in a very unique way. … It’s possible we may see some familiar SG1 faces in SGU.”

And finally, in the audition sides for Ron Stasiak, Ron and Tamara are in Tamara’s personal quarters where they were asked by Col. Young to meet. Stasiak insists that he doesn’t need a shrink and makes it clear that Tamara is not one, even though she did take a class in psychology in her undergraduate studies. Tamara is concerned that Stasiak has kept to himself, yet he’s basically first in line to save another’s life. Stasiak brushes off her attempt to understand him when she challenges him about his anger. Stasiak gets down to the nitty-gritty and tells her that he is what he is and she should be thankful for it. Then, he makes a strange comment before leaving: “You ever been dead? … Try it sometime. Changes your whole point of view.”

Stargate Universe is being aimed at a younger audience than the one that SG-1 and Atlantis attracted. Co-creator Robert C. Cooper recently described the show in an MGM interview: “It says Stargate in the title, but it’s also going to be something that is very different in tone. It will certainly have a Stargate in it, but is going to be unlike anything Stargate we’ve ever done before.”

Mallozzi tried to describe the show to his weblog readers by comparing it to other shows currently on television: “Now given that some of you have started comparing SGU to existing shows on the basis of what little information has been released thus far, I thought it might be a good idea to help paint a clearer picture of the show. And so, to those of you looking for standing comparisons, I’d say more Lost than Battlestar, more Dr. Who than Heroes, more The Office than My Name Is Earl.” Of course, this description doesn’t mean much to those who don’t watch some or all of these shows.

One thing that Mallozzi did say that might be more easily understood is that “there are threads that run through all the stories, in essence making this season one big 20-parter. … And while SGU will be more serialized than its predecessors, it … , like SG-1 and SGA, … will be accessible to first-time viewers looking to jump on at any point.”

Cooper stated in his MGM interview, “Our target is to start shooting early February and be on the air in July of ’09.” Stay with Solutions as we continue to update the Stargate Universe Guide in the Stargate Wiki.

"Brain Storm": Great Minds Don't Always Think Alike

Keller and McKay in "Brain Storm"

Not that long ago, Dr. Rodney McKay and Dr. Daniel Jackson had a heart-to-heart conversation that went something like this in Martin Gero’s “First Contact”:

DANIEL
I’ve…spent the majority of my professional life being ridiculed for my theories—most of which turned out to be correct, by the way. I’m kinda used to it, Rodney.

[McKay slumps back in his chair and sighs.]

MCKAY
Doesn’t that bother you? I mean, no vindication, no recognition, no…credit?

DANIEL
Well, I could say the same thing about you. The discoveries you’ve made, you…probably could’ve won the Nobel Prize five times over by now.

MCKAY
(relaxing)
Too true. So, I guess none of us signed up to get famous, huh?

DANIEL
(deadpan)
No, we did it for the money.

[Daniel grins. McKay snickers.]

MCKAY
Good one.
(sobering)
Wait a minute—you don’t get paid more than I do, do you?

Dave Foley in "Brain Storm"

Tonight, Gero continues to address McKay’s insecurities and lack of vindication, as well as his envy of those who make more money than he does for his work, in “Brain Storm”, an episode which he also directed. McKay gets an invitation from an old science rival of his, Dr. Malcolm Tunney, portrayed by Talk Radio‘s Dave Foley, to witness the activation of Tunney’s new invention.

“Publically he’s very successful, which McKay finds incredibly galling, because McKay is like a hundred times more successful than he is, but he can’t tell anybody that,” executive producer Joseph Mallozzi told SCI FI WIRE. “He’s really annoyed. McKay wants to find out what this guy is up to. He takes this guy up on his invitation, and he invites Keller along as his date.

“They are picked up in a Lear jet and taken to this remote location where Tunney informs them that he’s been working on his own green initiative: the means to eliminate greenhouse gases by creating a bridge to alternate universes and sending the heat out that way. Which sounds incredibly familiar to McKay, because he invented it back in ‘McKay and Ms. Miller.’

Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson

Several of science’s great minds meet at the “Carl Binder Memorial Theatre” (see Mallozzi’s weblog for the in-joke of naming this fictional location after the still living writer-producer Carl Binder and for more behind-the-scenes pictures at the high school gym location shoot), including real-life astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, who makes a cameo appearance. To top it off, Bill Nye (The Science Guy) also got an invitation! “They turned out to be a lot of fun both in front of and away from the camera, regaling the rest of the cast and crew with stories of their empirical exploits. They seemed to be as happy to be there as we were to have them,” Mallozzi wrote.

“Martin told us it was really fun having Bill and Dr. Tyson on set because they are incredibly knowledgeable about the scientific world,” script coordinator Alex Levine wrote in his scifi.com blog. “And they are both engaging and were very friendly with the crew and other actors. At one point, one of the grips asked Dr. Tyson if we really ever landed on the moon. Well, instead of sloughing him off, Dr. Tyson waited for a break in the action, went over to him, and explained the scientific evidence that backs up our lunar landing.”

After all of his invitees are settled down in the auditorium, Tunney turns on his device … and then things go terribly wrong! Tune in tonight at 9 pm (repeat at 11 pm) on the Sci Fi Channel to see how fortunate everybody is that Dr. Rodney McKay knows how to use his brain, even when in the face of a storm.

Stargate Legacy Auctions Launched

Stargate Legacy Auctions

“Own a piece of Stargate history!” Joseph Mallozzi announced in his weblog recently. “My co-workers Lawren [Bancroft-Wilson, production assistant] and Tanya [Balic, production coordinator] have organized an auction of props, set dec, and costumes from SG-1, Atlantis, and both SG-1 movies.

“According to Lawren, they’ll be putting up over a 100 items. Every auction starts at 0.01 and there’s no reserve so if you’ve been dying to get your hands on Zipacna’s crazy hat from Pretense, this is your chance!”

The name of the project is “Stargate Legacy Auctions”:

After thirteen years of producing the Stargate Franchise from Stargate Sg-1 to Stargate Atlantis, we’ve created some pretty amazing props, costumes and set decorations. As we prepare to launch our newest show STARGATE: UNIVERSE, along with the production of a STARGATE ATLANTIS MOVIE and a third STARGATE: SG-1 MOVIE, the production needs to do some spring cleaning. Instead of shipping off these treasures to our Area-51 like warehouse the Producers and MGM have agreed to make some items available to our loyal fans through an online auction. We will be putting items up on EBAY where anyone can bid and hopefully win some Stargate history. And we’re not talking about little items you would miss if you blinked. These are key props like Jaffa weapons, Ori Helmets, key items that whole episodes and stories were based around. We will do our best to describe the items and what episodes they appeared in. Each original production item will be accompanied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the Executive Producer/Creators Brad Wright and Robert Cooper.

Good Luck Bidding,

The Stargate Legacy Team

Have fun in bidding for a piece of Stargate history!

"Remnants": "Surface Impressions Vs Inner Realities"

Remnants

“I sat down with Joe and we had a lengthy conversation about the origins of the story,” script coordinator Alex Levine wrote in his scifi.com blog, “and in the midst of this conversation (which was going very well, by the way) something clicked and Joe realized that just talking about the origins of the story would give away the third act twist. And who wants to watch more than half of an episode knowing what the twist is? How lame would that be? So we went back to basics and started over.”

We here at Solutions encountered the same dilemma when we actually read the third act twist in the audition sides for Dr. Vanessa Conrad, played by SG-1 veteran Anna Galvin (“Collateral Damage”). So, to solve the problem, we stopped at a certain page in the sides and used writer Joseph Mallozzi’s blog entries as a guide as to how far we could go with the spoilers. “Remnants”, directed by William Waring, includes three storylines that, according to Levine, “dovetail in the conclusion.”

“First, there’s Sheppard and his mainland troubles,” Mallozzi revealed in his weblog during the production of the episode. “Then, there’s McKay and his Zelenka-assisted investigation of the mystery find. And, finally, there’s Woolsey and his good news/bad news/bizarre news day.”

Sheppard and his mainland troubles: Sheppard has flown a Puddle Jumper to the mainland of Atlantis’ new home planet and is captured and bound. He begins to try to free himself when he gets one of the biggest surprises of his life when his captor reveals himself. But how could it possibly be him—he’s supposed to be dead, shot by Sheppard himself about two years before! What’s even worse, Sheppard faces one of the darkest forms of torture that he could have ever imagined.

McKay and his Zelenka-assisted investigation: McKay flew a Puddle Jumper out of the underwater bay and recovered a device left behind in the ocean by an ancient alien race.

Woolsey and his good news/bad news/bizarre news day: Woolsey is up for his nine-month evaluation from the IOA. He’s nervous, but while entering the transporter in the city, he meets Dr. Vanessa Conrad, a scientist in her late 30’s or early 40’s who just arrived from the Apollo. She is everything he finds attractive in a woman, including her choice of recreation: Yahtzee. Woolsey and Conrad part ways on a first-name basis as he reaches the floor of his quarters, hoping that maybe Vanessa would join him there for … a meal. The doors close on her instead. The bad news? Richard learns that Vanessa’s not exactly his type after all.

There it is. You’ll just have to watch the episode tonight to the Sci Fi Channel at 9 PM (or its rerun at 11 PM) to find out what Mallozzi meant when he told Levine, “It’s about surface impressions versus inner realities.” And if that’s not telling you what the third act twist is without actually telling you what the third act twist is, I don’t know what is. …

TV Guide: Sci Fi Gives "Sanctuary" a Second Season

Sanctuary

“TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that Sci Fi channel has greenlit production on a second season of Sanctuary, ordering 13 new hours of the series,” announced TV Guide online’s Erin Fox. “Sanctuary is slated to begin production in Vancouver early next year for a 2009 premiere.”

Congratulations to Amanda Tapping, Damian Kindler, Martin Wood, and the rest of the production team, cast, and crew of Sanctuary!

Mallozzi Updates Fans on SGU Development

Stargate Universe Banner from MGM

Story consultant and writer Joseph Mallozzi told fans in his weblog that the creative team for Stargate Universe has begun their work to fill up the 20 slots for the first season of the new show. Including the co-creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, the story consultation team is the same as that for Atlantis: Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie, Carl Binder, Alan McCullough, and Martin Gero.

The team started meeting yesterday, November 10, to discuss the pilot, which is now looking like it will be a three-parter. Stargate SG-1 started with a sort-of three-parter itself with “Children of the Gods” and “Enemy Within” (“Enemy Within” was a direct continuation of the events in the pilot, but there was no “To Be Continued” leading into it.). The new characters and enemies for SG-1 in Season Nine were introduced in a three-parter: “Avalon” and “Origin”. Mallozzi explained, “Originally planned as a two-parter, Brad and Robert quickly discovered that there was simply too much story for such a tight frame, so the series opener is now looking like a three-parter.

“Brad and Rob did a terrific job of kicking things off in thrilling fashion. The script is fast-paced and fun; its characters unique and engaging. My favorite: Dr. David Rush. Oh, he’s going to be a handful,” Mallozzi revealed.

A fair warning should probably be given at this time: Don’t get too attached to Rush; he’s not listed as one of the main characters for the new “team”, which is led by Col. Everett Young and is made up of mostly young and inexperienced personnel who are in their early 20s. The team is supposed to be desperate and that includes not having an experienced doctor (of any kind) with them when they get stranded on the Ancients’ Destiny without a way home. But, you never know, Rush might be a bright spot in the show as he works Earth-side to bring the team home. We’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be around after the pilot.

Cooper explained in an interview with MGM why they decided to have a group comprised of mostly young and inexperienced people, “One of the things I’m really excited about is that we’re looking for people who are a little more identifiable and contemporary. I always thought one of the things that was attractive about the original series was the ‘everyman on the street’ point of view that O’Neill had to science fiction. It made the characters identifiable. They were more like we would be in a science fiction situation, and how we would react. And that’s what we’re trying to do with the new show – create characters that are going to be challenged by the situation.

“The team that ends up on the ship is not really who was supposed to go, and in some cases they’re very unprepared and unqualified to be in that situation. So they don’t have all the answers as quickly, and the challenges are greater than they would be for people who have seen it all and don’t have as far to go as characters when they encounter an incredible situation.”

During this time of slot-filling, the writing team pitches ideas and they decide on which ones will work. Then, each lays claim to a story that interests him. Mallozzi said, “In addition to that first script, Brad and Rob provided us with a beat sheet and springboards for several more stories. Brad has laid claim to #4, a story that is right up his alley. Speaking of perfect pairings, I couldn’t think of anyone better than Carl Binder to write #5. Rob is eying #6 which offers a most intriguingly SF door in, while #7 and #8 have yet to be claimed.”

So, here’s what they have so far:

  • 1.01 – Pilot, Part 1 – Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright
  • 1.02 – Pilot, Part 2 – Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright
  • 1.03 – Pilot, Part 3 – Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright
  • 1.04 – Story up Wright’s Alley – Brad Wright
  • 1.05 – Best Story for Binder – Carl Binder
  • 1.06 – Intriguing SF Door In – Robert C. Cooper
  • 1.07 – Untitled – Unassigned
  • 1.08 – Untitled – Unassigned

Only 12 more slots to fill!

“As I mentioned in a previous entry, Stargate: Universe is a series that draws on established mythology yet blazes a bold, new path for the franchise,” Mallozzi continued. “It’s definitely more character-centered and intimate in its exploration of the interpersonal dynamics that will drive a lot of the shipboard developments (and, no, I’m not talking about romance). The premise of this ship hurtling through uncharted territories offers up unbounded story possibilities, yet also forces us to adopt a very different approach toward alien encounters and planetary investigation. Twin themes mentioned over the course of today’s conversations: survival and sacrifice.”

Mallozzi said that they still haven’t pinned down the look of the Destiny, but Cooper assured him that they’re getting close. The Sci Fi Channel published some of the concept art for the show, but there appears to be no guarantee that these are indeed final versions. Mallozzi liked the design for a new MALP (Mobile Analytic Laboratory Probe), which he described as “very cool.”

There is still no firm news in the casting, but “some interesting names are being bandied about.” The production team will continue this week with laying out the stories and will “establish some of the big picture storylines and arcs we’d like to pursue over the course of the show’s first 20 episodes.”

Since Mallozzi titled his entry “Spinning Stargate: Universe – Day One”, it is possible that he plans to give fans more tidbits as the new show gets developed. This will be a first for Stargate fans: following a Stargate show on a daily basis as it gets started from the ground up.

Stargate Merchandise Ups and Downs

The Stargate franchise exists as more than simply the television shows, encompassing novels, audio books, props and replicas, action figures, and video games. Here are a few recent news snippets on the merchandise front.

[Updated with SGA Season 4 Companion Guide — see end of article.]

Stargate Props Replicas

Stargate Props Replica -- Egyptian Head

Gateworld reports the sad news that Legends Memorabilia (aka StargateProps) has decided to drop its MGM license for authentic reproductions of such props as the Stargate, a Zat, the Eye of Ra pendant, and a Staff Weapon, among others. Legends head Paul Brown reported sales have not been high enough to justify the costs of the licensing and production, which involves many hours of engineering to create the molds for each piece. So if you want one of those great props, head over now to order, before it’s too late! I have four of the products, and they are top-notch.

In happier news, Legends is continuing its work in auctioning of real Stargate items, as well as its autographs sales for charity on behalf of RDA and other Stargate actors. In fact, an auction has just started, and includes the mini-staff weapon that Mitchell used in “Babylon”. Head over to StargateProps/Legends to make your bids!

Big Finish Productions Audio Books

Big Finish continues to produce original audio fiction, read by Stargate actors and provided either by CD or download. A total of six titles have been released, three each from SG-1 and Atlantis. The works sound more like audio dramas than simply an actor reading a story, therefore they’re lots of fun! Visit the Stargate page at Big Finish for more info.

Stargate Novels

An impressive 17 original novels across SG-1 and Atlantis have been published by Fandemonium. Some are found in bookstores, and fans can visit the on-line shop at StargateNovels.com. Sadly three of the titles (Halcyon, Exogenesis, and Siren Song) are out of print. Some fans have reported seeing them for sale on E-bay and other auction sites, but at higher-than-retail prices.

Stargate Worlds On-Line Role Playing Game

The star of this year’s Comic Con, Stargate Worlds is continuing development, and it entered the crucial “closed beta” phase on October 13. This means a limited number of fans are being allowed to play the game for the purpose of testing it on a big scale. The lead developer recently granted a long interview, in which he noted:

So when the game comes out we want it to be another leg of the table for the Stargate franchise, to really hold it up and make it stronger. That’s really where they’ve really looked at it as well – Brad Wright and Robert Cooper have been very supportive, their comments and feedback has been a positive, open, collaborative effort.

The game should begin open beta testing early in 2009, with official release following hopefully not long after. The game will run only on Windows XP and Vista for now. Your intrepid editor tried to get a beta version to run on a Windows virtual machine on her Mac, but things did not go well. Certainly the official release will be easier for a newbie to install. The Stargate Worlds game represents a huge investment by MGM, and one that we hope will pay off for the good of the franchise!

Stargate Atlantis Season 4 Companion

Stargate Atlantis: The Official Companion Season 4, written by Sharon Gosling, is available now (Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk). From Amazon.com: “This official companion to the fourth season is packed with behind-the-scenes interviews, a comprehensive episode guide and scores of photos, including a 16-page color gallery. It features a Foreword by David Hewlett (Dr Rodney McKay), plus contributions from the production team, crew and cast!” Retail price is USD $14.95, but you can get it cheaper on-line.
