Mallozzi Recommends Hiring Stargate Actors

Stargate writer and producer Joseph Mallozzi dedicated an entry to his weblog yesterday that was meant to get the attention of “casting directors, producers, studio people, and network execs” as he recommended the hiring of some of the guest stars that have appeared in Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe.

He started off by explaining why he’s just got ten names right now, “Over the course of my ten years with the Stargate franchise, I’ve had the pleasure to work with numerous talented individuals, many of them guest stars who impressed with their performance, professionalism, and gracious off-camera attitude. And so, today, I’d like to make mention of a few of them here (and I stress “a few of them” because there are certainly more than many I could add to the list. But, for the purposes of today’s entry, let’s go with these ten individuals who a) left a lasting impression and b) I feel are really deserving of more recognition). All are gifted actors who would make a terrific addition to any cast. But be warned! Snap ’em up now because I have a feeling they’ll only be available for so long.”

No doubt, these names will be familiar with you as well, since several have indeed been “snapped up” for popular movies and television series.

Mallozzi’s First 10 Actors to Recommend for Hire:

  1. Michael Welch – “Young Jack (Fragile Balance, SG-1 season 7)”
  2. Neil Jackson – “Khalek, Wraith (Prototype SG-1 season 9, Vegas Atlantis season 5)”
  3. Jodelle Ferland – “Young Adria, Harmony (Flesh and Blood, SG-1 season 10, Harmony, Atlantis season 4)”
  4. Brendan Beiser – “Tavius, Weaver (The Tower, Atlantis season 2, Memento Mori, SG-1 season 9)”
  5. Reed Diamond – “Bryce Ferguson (Stronghold, SG-1 season 9)”
  6. Ryan Robbins – “Ladon Radim (Various episodes, Atlantis)”
  7. Kari Wuhrer – “Nancy (Outcast, Atlantis season 4)”
  8. Malcolm Scott – “Caius (The Ties That Bind, SG-1 season 9)”
  9. Mike Dopud – “Bounty Hunter, Kiryk (Bounty, SG-1 season 10, Tracker, Atlantis season 5)”
  10. Reiko Aylesworth – “Sharon (Life, Universe season 1)”

To read what Mallozzi had to say about these actors, visit his June 17th entry. Links on their names in the above list will get you to our Stargate Wiki profiles.

Ask Paul McGillion Your Questions

Paul McGillion

Joseph Mallozzi has opened his weblog to fans once again! This time, he’s offering to take questions from fans for Stargate Atlantis star Paul McGillion.

The prolific blogger said, “Just spoke to actor Paul McGillion who called to let me know that there’s an opening in his busy schedule and, why yes, he’d love to do a fan Q&A with us. So to all you Beckett boosters and Scot supporters out there, start posting. I’ll be gathering questions for Paul until Friday night – after which it’ll be too late and you’ll only have yourselves to blame. Tsk, tsk.”

To post your question, visit the latest entry to Mallozzi’s weblog and scroll all the way down to the bottom where the comment form awaits you. Mallozzi screens each and every comment, so it might take a little while for yours to become visible, but rest assured that he’ll post it as soon as he can. Remember that you have until Friday, June 12!

Beau Bridges to Film Rom-Com Indie This Summer

Beau Bridges

Stargate star Beau Bridges always seems to be working! This summer he’ll be filming a new independent film produced by and starring Alyssa Milano, an actress that Bridges has worked with before in the ill-fated ABC pilot Single with Parents in which he played Milano’s character’s father. (And the two share even more in common with their recurring role status in the sitcom My Name Is Earl.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is called My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend and is a romantic comedy in which Milano plays “an outgoing woman who meets two seemingly ideal men in quick succession — a struggling novelist (Christopher Gorham) and successful ad exec (Michael Landes) — and must decide between them.”

Remember to Vote for Lou Starting Tonight!

Lou Diamond Phillips

Tonight is the two-hour premiere of NBC’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contest for charity at 8/7c and Stargate Universe star Lou Diamond Phillips would like your votes! 🙂

The official website describes the show: “A groundbreaking, live event airing throughout the month of June it’s the ultimate “Swiss Family Robinson” as ten celebrities are dropped into the heart of the jungle [Costa Rica] to face fun and comedic challenges designed to test their survival skills. America is the puppet master, controlling their favorites by putting them into challenges and tasks to win food, supplies and luxury items. In each episode, friendships will be tested, hilarity will ensue and viewers will decide which celebrities stay or leave. While all participants will be playing for their favorite charities, the last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning the largest share of the prize for donation.”

Phillips’ Celebrity biography can be read HERE, but surprisingly enough, neither Lou’s selected charity nor Stargate Universe got mentioned! In any case, Lou has asked that you submit your votes for him so that he can stay as long as possible in the challenge, which will broadcast various weeknights from now until June 24 (check your local listings or the NBC website for times).

Good luck, Lou!

MGM: McGillion Says Goodbye

Stargate Atlantis star Paul McGillion says thanks to the fans for the five wonderful years that he had as the beloved Dr. Carson Beckett.

First, he sums up Carson’s story arc and then expounds, “It’s been a great journey. You don’t know to think when you start something like this—I was hoping that it would go on for a while, and it did: a hundred episodes is huge in this day and age; and to be part of that, to be part of this franchise, I’m really thankful to everybody that gave me the opportunity, and mostly to the fans, because without them, we wouldn’t have a show, and I certainly wouldn’t be still standing here as Carson Beckett.”

Turning on a bit more of the Scottish accent, Paul concludes, “Thank you to the fans. God love you. You’re fantastic. I hope you continue watching Stargate for years and the next show does as well as this show does. You’ve been very, very special to me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.”

To watch the video, which includes McGillion’s “wrap day”, visit MGM: McGillion Says Goodbye.

According to Stargate Actor Appearances, McGillion’s next convention appearance will be at the Official Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis Convention in Rosemont (Chicago), Illinois, from August 21-23, 2009.

Reminder: Joe Flanigan Chat at AXN Today

Joe Flanigan as Sheppard

The Hungarian site AXN is hosting a chat with Stargate Atlantis star Joe Flanigan at 7 pm local time (get time for your area here). The chat will be conducted in English.

Fans have been given the chance to post their questions at AXN, as well as at the fansite SFPortal, who have offered to pass the questions along.

[Many thanks to wraithfodder for keeping track of this event on LJ.]
