SYFY GENRE AWARDS NOMINATIONS FOR SG-1

SyFy Genre Awards Nominees Announced

The fifth SyFy Genre Awards have been announced, and the now-cancelled “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” series is this year’s top show with nine nominations. It’s spinoff “Angel,” which will go off the air in May, received eight nominations — tying it with “Stargate SG-1” and “Farscape.”

The nominees were chosen based on votes from a nominating committee put together by SyFy Portal.

Beginning April 25, fans will be able to vote for their favorites in each of the 13 categories. Visitors can vote once per day per e-mail address, and all they need to do is visit SyFy Portal’s main page. SyFy Portal has been doing the awards since 1999:

STARGATE WINS A SPACEY AWARD!

The Space Channel in Canada recently held it’s second annual Spacey Awards and Stargate SG-1 was voted by Canadian viewers as our favourite Canadian Sci Fi series by an impressive 61%, the highest winning margin of any of the awards categories. Col Jack O’Neill was also in the running for a Spacey of his own, nominated in the Favourite TV Action Hero category, but unfortunatelyhe didn’t win. Spike took home the coveted statuette, but although he didn’t win, our Colonel did kick Clark Kent and Jonathan Archer’s butts and came in second. (hey, I voted for him!)

So, for the second year in a row, we Canadians love Stargate!

Get personal with other bloggers, bash fans or actors or TPTB, and your behind will be right out the virtual door, no question, toot very much sweet. We do expect debate and we do expect critique from thoughtful fellow fans. We do expect disagreement. We also expect respect for opposing or differing viewpoints and for individuals. Criticism must at all times be tempered by that respect and we expect criticism to be constructive. Michael Shanks said that what the show’s creative looks to is specifics and *alternatives*. If a writing, directing or acting choice doesn’t work for you, tell us why, tell us in as much detail as you can, and tell us what could have worked. “It sucked” won’t go unchallenged
