MGM’s Official Stargate website has added two new videos to their collection to promote the two upcoming direct-to-DVD movies: They’ve added a teaser for Stargate: The Ark of Truth and a behind-the-scenes featurette for Stargate: Continuum.
The teaser for The Ark of Truth is the same one that was included in the Season Ten box set recently released in July for Region 1. There is no footage from the movie in this video. Written, directed, and produced by Robert C. Cooper, Stargate: The Ark of Truth will be released directly to DVD in the Spring of 2008.
The behind-the-scenes featurette for Brad Wright’s Stargate: Continuum includes comments from Martin Wood, N. John Smith, and Wright about how the Navy gave the production crew the opportunity to film in the Arctic using their nuclear submarine. Brad Wright enthusiastically said, “This is a feature; this is a movie, and the scale is larger than anything we’ve ever done before.” And director Martin Wood’s closing remarks add to the suspense in having to wait for a year for this movie’s release (Fall of 2008): “The interesting thing about this movie is the stuff in the Arctic is not the biggest thing we did.”
