David Hewlett’s The Whistleblower Coming to Blu-ray
DAVID HEWLETT’s The Whistleblower is getting a Blu-ray release on January 24, 2012, according to High Def Digest. The movie, which Hewlett filmed in Romania in the fall of 2009, was screened at several independent film festivals prior to its recent limited release in American theaters. This description from High Def Digest:
Academy Award winners Rachel Weisz (‘The Constant Gardner’) and Vanessa Redgrave (‘Julia’) head a powerful cast that includes Oscar® Nominee David Strathairn (‘Good Night and Good Luck’) in writer-director Larysa Kondracki’s harrowing dramatic thriller. When Nebraska cop Kathryn Bolkovac (Weisz) accepts a U.N. peacekeeper position in post-war Bosnia, she uncovers a deadly sex trafficking ring. After learning that fellow peacekeepers and military contractors are involved in the ghastly practice and its cover-up, Bolkovac risks her own life to save the lives of others and expose the corruption. With masterful acting and a heart-racing plot, ‘The Whistleblower’ is an acclaimed film inspired by actual events and includes stellar supporting performances from Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock”), Monica Bellucci (‘The Matrix Reloaded’) and David Hewlett (“Stargate: Atlantis”).

Her role was that of Navy Lieutenant Commander Stephanie Mosner in the episode “Sins of the Father.” As a consolation, you can still catch her online on CBS.com’s NCIS video page. It will probably be available for another few weeks as CBS.com keeps the last four episodes for free online streaming.
Picardo Cuts Soundtrack for Scrooge
ROBERT PICARDO has recorded a re-imagined soundtrack of the 1970 musical Scrooge! According to Kik Axe Music, the new recording has just been released in digital (iTunes) and CD forms (December 1). Picardo was thrilled to perform as Scrooge and enthused, “The other wonderful thing about being in anything that is Christmas-related is that you are an evergreen. It becomes relevant again every 12 months. It’s fun to be in something that people can either punch up on their computer every year or pull the disk out of their CD cabinet and enjoy it, year after year, because the music is so great.” Visit Kik Axe Music for more information about the release, including a chance to obtain a CD signed by Picardo himself.
