Alaina Huffman Video Interview

ABC.net.au has posted a video interview with SGU star ALAINA HUFFMAN, entitled “Alaina Huffman can’t fake that baby bump,” which was recorded while she was appearing at the Armageddon conventions. They talked about her getting the role of Lt. Tamara Johansen in Stargate Universe, working with ROBERT CARLYLE, being a “super hero” on Smallville, and doing her own stunts…and of course, the “baby bump” — her fourth child.

Update on Judge’s Colonial Period Film To Have and to Hold

Compass Cayman’s “Colonial Period Film Shoots in Cayman” identifies CHRISTOPHER JUDGE as one of the three principal actors in the movie To Have and to Hold, a story about the early settlers of Virigina in the 1600s. According to this article, the movie is based off of the 1900 best-selling novel by the same name written by Mary Johnston. This is the third film to be made that’s based off of the book; the first two were silent films made in 1916 and 1922. It tells the story of an English couple who must survive imprisonment, shipwrecks, and pirate and Indian attacks while seeking a new life together in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619.

Stargate Briefing: Hewlett, Judge, Luttrell, Picardo, Tapping

David Hewlett’s The Whistleblower Coming to Blu-ray

DAVID HEWLETT’s The Whistleblower is getting a Blu-ray release on January 24, 2012, according to High Def Digest. The movie, which Hewlett filmed in Romania in the fall of 2009, was screened at several independent film festivals prior to its recent limited release in American theaters. This description from High Def Digest:

Academy Award winners Rachel Weisz (‘The Constant Gardner’) and Vanessa Redgrave (‘Julia’) head a powerful cast that includes Oscar® Nominee David Strathairn (‘Good Night and Good Luck’) in writer-director Larysa Kondracki’s harrowing dramatic thriller. When Nebraska cop Kathryn Bolkovac (Weisz) accepts a U.N. peacekeeper position in post-war Bosnia, she uncovers a deadly sex trafficking ring. After learning that fellow peacekeepers and military contractors are involved in the ghastly practice and its cover-up, Bolkovac risks her own life to save the lives of others and expose the corruption. With masterful acting and a heart-racing plot, ‘The Whistleblower’ is an acclaimed film inspired by actual events and includes stellar supporting performances from Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock”), Monica Bellucci (‘The Matrix Reloaded’) and David Hewlett (“Stargate: Atlantis”).

Make sure to visit the article for further information about this Blu-ray release.

Pictures that lists all of the theaters that will be screening the prologue for the final installment in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, which will be released on July 20, 2012.

Rachel Luttrell Guested on NCIS

Apologies to the fans of RACHEL LUTTRELL for missing her guest appearance on NCIS on November 22. Her role was that of Navy Lieutenant Commander Stephanie Mosner in the episode “Sins of the Father.” As a consolation, you can still catch her online on CBS.com’s NCIS video page. It will probably be available for another few weeks as CBS.com keeps the last four episodes for free online streaming.

Picardo Cuts Soundtrack for Scrooge

ROBERT PICARDO has recorded a re-imagined soundtrack of the 1970 musical Scrooge! According to Kik Axe Music, the new recording has just been released in digital (iTunes) and CD forms (December 1). Picardo was thrilled to perform as Scrooge and enthused, “The other wonderful thing about being in anything that is Christmas-related is that you are an evergreen. It becomes relevant again every 12 months. It’s fun to be in something that people can either punch up on their computer every year or pull the disk out of their CD cabinet and enjoy it, year after year, because the music is so great.” Visit Kik Axe Music for more information about the release, including a chance to obtain a CD signed by Picardo himself.

New Teaser for Amanda Tapping’s Space Milkshake

Got More To Add?

We invite you to leave a link in our comments section below for new items to announce in our next STARGATE BRIEFING.

Coming Soon: Levesque, Luttrell, Shanks, Staite

Stargate Solutions Coming Soon FeaturevWe’ve updated our new COMING SOON feature recently with the addition of projects for ELYSE LEVESQUE, RACHEL LUTTRELL, MICHAEL SHANKS, and JEWEL STAITE. Additionally, we’ve discovered some more details for projects done by BEAU BRIDGES, BEN BROWDER, ALAINA HUFFMAN, and ROBERT PICARDO.

So, without further ado, here are the announcements and updates!

NEW PROJECTS

ELYSE LEVESQUE was mentioned in an interview with Twilight Saga‘s Tinsel Corey at Celebuzz.com about a new project she’s just finished called Fishing Naked. “It’s a comedy, I’ve been looking to do more comedic stuff. It’s called Fishing Naked, and I know the title sounds a little risqué but it’s more like your connection to the earth. Bronson Pelletier is in it, and also Elyse Levesque from Stargate Universe. And it is sort of like American Pie with a little bit of a supernatural twist. Its hilarious – I was reading it last night again and I was cracking up! It is a really funny movie.” The movie is being released in September 2011, but we don’t have a poster for it yet, so Elyse’s Coming Soon placeholder image sits in its place.

Way back, we reported that RACHEL LUTTRELL got a guest spot in Stevel Seagal’s new show True Justice. Since that report, Rachel said that it was a recurring role as a police officer, but we don’t have the names of the episodes in which she appears. The show debuted in the UK on 5USA on July 6 and it is still airing on Wednesday nights. The police action drama takes place on the dangerous streets of Seattle, Washington. While it was being produced, the show went through some name changes, and there’s talk that it will be released in the United States as a series of DTV movies. We’ll see, but in the meantime, Rachel’s recurring role status has been added to COMING SOON.

MICHAEL SHANKS has been busy going back and forth between Vancouver and Toronto lately because he’s working on projects that are being filmed in both locations. Not long ago, he filmed a pilot called Saving Hope in Toronto, then he returned to Vancouver where he shot The Pastor’s Wife. Then, back in Toronto, he filmed a guest spot in Flashpoint, and is now back in Vancouver filming a small role in the Matt Damon movie Elysium (aka Baja Dunes), which is “…a sci-fi story set 100 years in the future, with Matt Damon playing an ex-con and Jodie Foster playing the head of state of an alien race. A colonization plot thread has been rumored as part of the movie,” according to SlashFilm.com. The release date currently set for this movie is March 1, 2013! All of these projects, except the pilot, have now got posters in COMING SOON.

JEWEL STAITE just revealed via her Twitter that she has a role in Stargate alum MARTIN GERO‘s new six-part, hour-long series for CTV called Highland Gardens (working title). Details for this project can be found at the Bell Media PR website, which describes the series: “Set in and around an apartment-style hotel that draws aspiring performers from Canada, the U.S. and all over the world, HIGHLAND GARDENS is a no-holds-barred, character-driven relationship drama that follows the exploits of six young hopefuls in search of celluloid and stardom in Hollywood. Full of heart-rending moments, salacious temptations and hilarious escapades, HIGHLAND GARDEN’s coming-of-age dwellers grapple with life’s defining moments as they deal with the unreality of the show-biz industry.” Jewel plays the “street-smart Haligonian Raquel, who’s frightened of becoming yesterday’s news.” They’ll be moving their filming from Toronto to Hollywood in the fall. There’s no premiere date set.

UPDATED PROJECTS

We reported that BEAU BRIDGES will be in the Family Movie Night special Home and Away, and now we’ve got an update on that project: It’s title has been changed to Game Time: Tackling the Past and it will premiere on September 3 on NBC at 8/7c. If “Family Movie Night” sounds familiar, it’s because JOE FLANIGAN starred in one of its installments, Change of Plans. The Family Movie Night website has not been updated for Beau’s movie yet, but we expect that to happen soon.

We also reported that BEN BROWDER got a role in Bad Kids Go to Hell, but inadvertently left his Coming Soon poster out of the feature’s launch! We also knew about ROBERT PICARDO‘s role in The Legends of Nethiah, but we left out that poster, too! We’ve now corrected our errors of omission!

Syfy put out a press release about their new show Alphas (posted by TV By the Numbers), so now we have the name of the episode and its premiere date for ALAINA HUFFMAN‘s guest spot. Her episode will be airing this coming Monday, August 8, at 10/9c, and another Stargate alum, PETER WINGFIELD, will also be guesting in the same episode.

THAT’S IT FOR NOW…WE THINK

As our Stargate actors move on from the franchise into new roles, we’ll do our best to keep up. You’ll see all that we’ve got in the COMING SOON feature. We’ll do our best to give you a “heads-up” for the coming week in our regular STARGATE PLANNER feature that’s posted each Sunday. And then after the movie and television spots have been screened or aired, we’ll add images of the actors in their new roles to their galleries on their profile pages in our ACTORS…BEYOND THE EVENT HORIZON feature. Even with all of this research, we’re bound to miss something, even though we’re monitoring their Twitter accounts in our STARGATE TWITTER SUPERFEED, and that’s where you come in. If you hear of a new role or a release date or anything like that, please contact us so that we can update our readers. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our actor-specific features.

Fairly Legal is the new title of the series; it was formerly called Facing Kate. The pilot is 90 minutes and the remaining nine episodes will be one hour each. The premise: “Kate Reed (Sarah Shahi) is a firm believer that justice can always be found-even if it’s not always in the courtroom. Once a lawyer at her family’s esteemed San Francisco firm, Kate’s frustration with the legal system led her to a new career as a mediator. Thanks to her innate understanding of human nature, thorough legal knowledge, and wry sense of humor, Kate is a natural when it comes to dispute resolution. Except, it seems, when it comes to conflicts in her own life” (Show’s official homepage).

Beau Bridges will be among the hosts at the premiere of the documentary Elephants and Man: A Litany of Tragedy at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood.

From PR-USA: The film, executive produced by Melya Kaplan and directed by Jacek Kropinski, chronicles the history of elephants in captivity. Kaplan, founder of the nonprofit Voice for the Animals Foundation, contends that zoos and circuses are not capable of properly caring for elephants due to their size and their need for vast amounts of space in which to roam. Many celebrities have joined Kaplan in a campaign to persuade zoos to close elephant exhibits and transfer the pachyderms to larger sanctuaries.

The host committee for the premiere of “Elephants and Man” includes Cher, Alec Baldwin, Kathy Griffin, Billy Bob Thornton, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams, Ed Begley, Jr., Paul Haggis, Fisher Stevens, Ric O’Barry, Karen Black, Lainie Kazan, Ken Davitian, Sally Field, Beau Bridges and others. Rachel Luttrell Guest Stars in New Steven Seagal Cop Show

Stargate star Rachel Luttrell has recently completed filming a guest spot in Vancouver “playing a cop on a cop show.”

For a while, her Twitter account was silent as she worked, but now that she’s done, she’s shared some more information about the experience: “Just finished working with Steve Seagal up here in Vancouver and he was lovely to me.”

Moviehole has more details about Southern Justice, the show that stars the action hero and martial artist Steven Seagal:

Seagal, who recently appeared in his own reality series (”Steven Seagal : Lawman”), is currently filming a new 13-part series titled “Southern Justice” (aka “True Justice”).

Seagal plays Elijah Kane the leader of an undercover group of cops that chases down the bad guys in the Seattle, Washington area.

”It’s being filmed from July to December in Vancouver, Canada”, a source on the production tells Moviehole. “There are 13 episodes ordered and it will air world wide through Voltage’s foreign sales efforts. It will be an action/crime drama – one hour procedural. Crime of the week kind of thing.”

We’ll keep our eyes open for more information, including when this show will be making its debut in 2011.

SciFi and TV Talk: Rachel Luttrell Fan Q&A

Rachel LuttrellStargate star Rachel Luttrell has completed answering fan questions posted at Steve Eramo’s SciFi And TV Talk Blog.

The two-part Q&A is posted HERE and HERE. A few highlights:

About her audition for Teyla:

I had to read two scenes with Joe Flanigan in front of a bunch of network executives at the network here in LA. I waited for two hours pacing while they saw other actors. It was nerve-wrecking. But I managed to stay focused and Joe and I just had a great connection in the (audition) room. It all unfolded beautifully.

About how being a mother has changed her:

Well, if I weren’t a Mom, I would have been able to get to these questions a lot sooner. Never a dull moment. Life is busy and full!

Motherhood has deepened my compassion. I am so easily moved to tears by the injustices in the world. I am even more emotionally available as an actor. I also have the mother bear strength. Don’t mess with my boy! You will have BIG trouble coming your way!

The opposite ends of the scales, those of venerability and strength, have increased within me immensely.

On her recent projects:

I have been working on my CD. I get into the studio on the 16th of October to record it. I have butterflies thinking about it. It is mainly a jazz/standards CD with some bosa nova. Have been working with some pretty spectacular musicians. It should be out by the end of November. Very excited about it!!

I have also been working with my husband on a number of film projects. … I am writing it. … It has a strong female character, a lot of action, and a bit of the fairy tale elements (the darker Grimms tales). I have a couple of other ones mulling in my mind. I like epic tales. I am also a fan of comedies. My story telling taste is as broad as my musical tastes.
