Minister Treydan was only heard over the radio

Summary

Minister Treydan was the leader of the Caledonian Federation on the planet Tegalus when SG-1 made first contact. (8.05 "Icon")

Character Biography

Minister Treydan was suspicious and resentful of the Rand Protectorate's position as the possessor of the Great Ring of Avidan, the Stargate, on his planet when SG-1 made first contact. Because the Rand Protectorate and the Caledonian Federation were in a state of cold war for generations, he felt that the Rand Protectorate's leader, Commander Gareth, was hiding important information from him concerning the offworlders and the Stargate technology. Any excuse he could to press the button on his massive stash of missiles, he'd take. (8.05 "Icon")

When a religious group under the leadership of Soren overtook a Rand military outpost, Treydan immediately took action. He said that he'd only target the base which had been compromised and urged Gareth not to retaliate. Soren, however, was able to respond to Treydan's missile and soon, both countries were at full-blown war with each other. Rand's missiles were much more accurate and Caledonia was devastated more than Rand. (8.05 "Icon")

After the war, Caledonia was under the leadership of Minister Chaska. It was unclear if Treydan was killed in the war or if he lost his position for his role in the escalated hostilities. It really didn't matter, since both countries ended up destroying each other about a year later. (9.15 "Ethon")
