Tynehead Park
Summary
Tynehead Park is an open-space park in Surrey, BC, southeast of Vancouver. It features a dog park with open meadows, picnic areas, a stream, and woods. The production used it as an outside location during filming of 7.01 "Fallen Part 1", 7.09 "Avenger 2.0", and 8.13 "It's Good To Be King".
Location
Tynehead Park is part of the Metro Vancouver parks system, previously known as The Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD). The Park is located at 17200 96th Ave, Surrey, BC, Canada. The parking lot nearest the filming locations is the one on 96th Ave, just west of 168th St. Follow the signs to the Hatchery.
Within the park, several areas were used for filming. A bridge over a stream is where Carter and Felger meet during 7.09 "Avenger 2.0"; it was where Felger liked to come and think. Carter found him there after calling his mother.
The open fields near the corner of 96th Ave and 168th Street were the place Daniel descended in 7.01 "Fallen Part 1". Michael Shanks has spoken of filming naked in a dog park in Surrey in Winter, and this was the place. It was cold in early April, so much have been very chilly in February. And it's true, dogs are allowed off their leashes in the area.
The meadow areas were also used for many scenes in 8.13 "It's Good To Be King." Various spots were used for the setting of the outside gate, the Ancient ruins that Daniel deciphered, and the time-traveling Puddle Jumper.
