Stargate SG-1 now available on iTunes

Stargate SG-1 fans who don’t have access to the SciFi Channel will be delighted to learn that Season 10 of the show is now available for download from Apple’s iTunes store. Stargate Atlantis Season 3 is also available. Both are accessible via the TV Shows genre, in the Sci Fi Channel section.

The first 5 episodes are already on iTunes for download, costing just $1.99 each.  A season pass for these and all future episodes of Season 10 costs $37.99.  Once a pass is purchased, current episodes will be downloaded immediately and future episodes will download as they become available.

International fans will be disappointed to learn Stargate SG-1 episodes can only be purchased and downloaded from the US iTunes store; a British account holder, for example, was not able to purchase an episode or the season pass.

Still, this is a great move forward in legal downloading and for fans, long overdue.

As the forum closes, our LJ opens!

It is with regret that we announce the closure of our Delphi forum, SG1Solutions. As the Solutions site has grown and grown over the past few years, the demands on our staffers and editorial team have also grown. In fact, we’ve grown so far and so fast, we’ve had to review the projects we can commit ourselves to.

The location of the forum on Delphi was problematic for some fans and monitoring the forum was becoming difficult to maintain. To help with both of these problems, we’ve decided to close the Delphi forum and encourage our visitors to post in our Livejournal community, SG1 Solutions instead. Unlike Delphi, you don’t have to pay to join and it’s completely ad free. The community is run by some of our Wiki writers and is a fun, informal setting in which to post and chat about the show, the characters, the actors and the Stargate world online, in print and in our lives.

Please join us in our LJ community! We’re kicking off with discussion of the latest episode, 10.01 Flesh And Blood.

Solutions open to Many Voices

Old hands will remember that Solutions started out as the site of “Many Voices,” where anyone could write an essay, review, critique or hymn of praise and we’d happily publish it on the site. While tremendous efforts have been focused on bulding up our amazing Stargate Wiki database, we’ve reached a point in site development where we want to once again open Many Voices for business.

Many Voices will be about opinion and editorial, and it’s for y’all – there’s an open invitation to everyone to submit articles. Just drop us a line!

We’ve made a gentle start, with one or two recent editorial articles and a fresh new Season 10 reviews & ratings section. Please come check it out.

StargateProps Seek Web Designer

Our friends at the fabulous Stargate Props and Stargate Autographs websites are on the lookout for a web designer to help them finalise their site makeover. Company president Paul Brown has asked us to spread the word here at Solutions. If you have the proven skills to help, please contact Paul directly at the email address below.

ARE YOU A WEB DESIGNER?

Over the past few weeks we have been working towards a redesign of our STARGATEPROPS.COM and STARGATE-AUTOGRAPHS.COM websites. As we have been so busy developing our new range of licensed products, we have simply been too busy to complete this project. So we are now exploring the market to find someone to get this completed for us – preferably a Stargate fan!

In simple terms, we have the new design and webpage templates ready to go, but now need someone to finalise it for us. If you are experienced in editing Flash, HTML and Photoshop files and are interested in working on this project, then we’d love to hear from you! Please contact paulbrown@stargateprops.com for more details.

The Alpha Gate Gets Extreme Makeover

We’ve just completed an extreme makeover for our sister site, The Alpha Gate fan fiction archive. All of the 2500+ stories you ever enjoyed are still there, but in a new format that’s more easily searchable and has on-site feedback, top ten lists, and a choice of three different looks!

The new archive is “self-serve” for authors, meaning you can submit, edit, and otherwise manage your own stories and series without waiting for the archivist to get around to it 🙂

We invite you to visit the site and read the “About” message on the home page to see how to join the Alpha Gate community and add your stories to our archive.

Baby Shanks and Other Vancouver News

Lots of news is coming out of this weekend’s Creation Stargate Convention in Vancouver, B.C.

First, Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig are the proud parents of a new baby boy, Samuel David Shanks, born around March 19 (not a firm date; Michael said 6 days ago as of yesterday). Many congratulations to Michael and Lexa on their first boy! As reported by MSOL earlier, Michael is taking off 2 episodes of filming to be there for the new baby, and that time started last week, so the timing worked out perfectly.

For excellent, very close-up photos of all of the con events, visit this site: GenreFans.com. The pictures of Michael from his Saturday appearance are particularly great!

Big news was reported by Annie at OurStargate on Season 10 guest stars (highlight to read):Richard Dean Anderson will be returning for guest appearances in Season 10. According to producer N. John Smith, RDA misses working on the show and would like to come back for some guest shots. There is no word on which episodes he might appear in, for example, the big 200th episode, which will begin filming in early April. Perhaps the show will finally make clear what General O’Neill has been up to.

Speaking of the 200th episode, word from various quarters is that it will be (highlight to read):A very funny, reportedlyl even hilarious episode that will poke fun at the show but with the audience in on the joke.

Stay tuned for more reports out of Vancouver, though sadly none of your Solutions reporters are there.
