Levine: Only Finale Remains

Alex Levine’s scifi.com Blog

In his weekly postings at scifi.com, script coordinator Alex Levine gives fans a behind-the-scenes look into the production considerations of both Stargate shows. In his lastest post, dated August 19, he puts forth the notion that, in reality, they were celebrating 246 episodes when SG-1’s 200th episode aired on the 18th.

Season Ten has gained a lot of press attention because of the milestones the show has met this year, but apparently the biggest concern right now at the studio is whether or not there will be a Season Eleven. Executive producer Robert Cooper had stated in an interview in TV Zone Special 71, “We’ll probably come up with a couple more stories, but we’re leaving the last two or three slots of both shows sort of open at the moment simply because we don’t know what the future holds. If we perform in the ratings and Sci Fi wants to go for more, then we’ll do season finales. So we’ll have to wait and see.”

Levine states in his blog:

Meanwhile, as I write this, Rob Cooper and Brad Wright are brainstorming the SG-1 season finale down the hall. Yes, it’s true, we’ve got 18 episodes of each series written now, and another episode of each series in outline stage. So they’re down to the finales. It really is amazing how time flies by, but it’s been yet another great season here in Burnaby, BC.

It will be interesting to find out if Levine really meant “season finale” rather than “series finale” when he wrote these words and that Stargate SG-1 will continue to break the records with an eleventh season.
