Hermiod of the Asgard

Summary

Hermiod of the Asgard was one of the crew members of the Daedalus, where he kept a station in engineering.

Character Biography

Hermiod was not as socially graceful as Thor when it came to interacting with humans, and sometimes he mumbled to himself to express his dissatisfaction, but he was brilliant and trustworthy. He played a pivotal role in battles and missions aboard the Daedalus. His knowledge of Asgard technology saved the city of Atlantis and the Daedalus itself from many threats. One of his most remarkable feats was to free Col. Caldwell, the commander of the Daedalus, from a Goa'uld symbiote that had taken him unknowingly as a host by using the ship's Asgard beaming technology. (Stargate Atlantis)

The Asgard committed mass suicide when they determined that their thousands of years of cloning had doomed them to a debilitating and deadly disease. They gifted their knowledge and technology to the SGC, declaring them as "The Fifth Race" (the other four were the Ancients, Nox, Furlings, and Asgard). (10.20 "Unending")
