SG-13
Summary
SG-13 consists of four members, one of which is a civilian archaeologist. The unit number has been known to be in existence since the episode 3.01 "Into The Fire Part 2".
Season Seven
SG-13 was one of ten new Stargate teams authorized to be in permanent rotation in the Stargate Program.
The team, at least in Season 7, consisted of an Air Force Colonel, Dave Dixon, two senior airmen, Simon Wells and Jake Bosworth, and civilian scientist Dr. Cameron Balinsky. One mission they went on was to P2X-787, where they encountered an ugly alien life form. They shared information about their personal lives with each other, teased each other about previous missions, and even ran a betting pool on what they would encounter on their various missions. They were also a well-honed team when it came to hostile action. When under fire from a shielded Goa'uld probe, Balinsky noted when it was vulnerable and signaled when Col. Dixon should take action.
Tragedy struck SG-13 while on the mission to P3X-666. After engaging an unknown alien device that fired upon them, they remained at the ruins, with SG-3 as backup. After it was determined the Goa'uld probe had sent out a signal before being destroyed, SG-13 and SG-3 were ordered to return to base. Before they could comply, Airman Wells was struck by a Jaffa staff weapon and couldn't be moved by his team. SG-3 and SG-13 remained and provided cover fire against approximately six Jaffa, sending Balinsky back to base to explain the situation to Gen. Hammond.
When SG-1, SG-5, SG-7, and a medical team led by Dr. Fraiser returned to the planet to give reinforcements, a full blown battle ensued (7.18 "Heroes Part 2"). The Goa'uld were apparently monitoring the SGC radio communications and more Jaffa as well as gliders and al'kesh engaged the Tau'ri as soon as they announced their arrival to their comrades. Col. Dixon suspected SG-1's arrival may have prompted the all-out attack.
Dr. Fraiser and Dr. Jackson arrived at the injured Wells's side. Wells's teammate Bosworth went up to a neighboring ridge to protect the small group. Fraiser was able to stabilize Wells while Jackson kept him distracted by talking about his family. Wells, afraid his wounds were fatal, insisted Dr. Jackson help him give a message to his pregnant wife. To keep him from becoming more upset, Daniel and Janet agreed, and Dr. Jackson recorded a video message. Bosworth killed an enemy Jaffa approaching their position, but not before the Jaffa fired his staff weapon. Daniel Jackson's camcorder captured the image of the errant staff blast striking Janet Fraiser in the chest. She died instantly. Severely outnumbered, the SG teams, including SG-13, retreated back to the SGC via the Stargate. Wells eventually made a complete recovery from his injuries.
In Season 8, Airman Bosworth had been transferred to SG-3, and Dr. Balinsky was working as a geologist and member of SG-22. It is unknown what the current makeup or status of the unit is, or the whereabouts of its other members.
