Production Notes
- "More spinning today in the writers’ room and more headway made on those first ten episodes. We ended up discussing the details of episode 1 (Paul will be doing the honors on this one), talking about the what’s and wherefore’s and, most importantly, answering Brad’s burning question: 'How the hell are we going to get out of this one?!'" — Joseph Mallozzi, October 28, 2009
- "The rest of the day was fairly uneventful, spent breaking Episode 1 of Stargate: Universe’s second season..." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 2, 2009
- "Paul, meanwhile, finished his [outline] today. He’s off on the annual end-of-season golf trip with some of the other producers and wanted to make sure he got it out of the way." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 12, 2009
- "Yesterday, we gave and received notes on three outlines: Episode 1 (Paul’s story, which will shoot second)..." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 21, 2009
- Simon writes: "Is 'Incursion' a three parter? Seems to make the most sense since 02×02 is 'Aftermath.' Answer: "Yes, I guess it can be considered a three-parter." — Joseph Malllozzi, January 10, 2010
- "First up was the second season premiere in which the events of Incursion I and II come to an explosive conclusion. Chock full of great character moments, Paul’s first draft is tight and well-written. It took us all of twenty minutes to go through it." — Joseph Mallozzi, January 13, 2010
- "Our first cast read-thru early next week to be followed by our first day of principal photography on Pathogen (Yes, it’s episode #4, but it’s shooting in the #1 slot) and the start of prep on Intervention (Episode #1)." — Joseph Mallozzi, March 5, 2010
- "Paul has wall-to-wall meetings as prep begins on Intervention..." — Joseph Mallozzi, March 10, 2010
- "Paul, meanwhile, is hip-deep in prep on Intervention..." — Joseph Mallozzi, March 12, 2010
- "Yesterday, we received a visit from our friends at Syfy, Exec. VP of Original Programming Mark Stern and Director of Development Erika Kennair, who dropped by to talk travel, television and, oh yeah, Stargate: Universe. We spent the afternoon discussing the first five scripts of season two and beyond – character developments, story arcs, and surprises in store for the not too distant future. It was a pleasant and ultimately fruitful sit-down that yielded some terrific ideas that I was quite excited about… until I sat down in front of my laptop this morning and realized I would now have to incorporate these terrific ideas into the rewrite of Awakening. Don’t get me wrong. I really do like the notions we came up with. They’ll help clarify some of the character motivations and offer up interesting revelations about her heroes. I just hate rewrites. Even more than I hate writing first drafts." — Joseph Mallozzi, March 12, 2010
- "Worked w/ ol pal Rob Knepper yesterday. Forgot he made appearance in YG II as well as Renegades! Just like old times." — Lou Diamond Phillips, Twitter, March 24, 2010
- "I was on set this morning, covering for my writing/producing partner, Paul, who was off on some secret agent-related matter, leaving me to make the tough calls on the episode in production: Intervention. As tempting as it was, I did NOT arbitrarily have the ship’s interior painted plum, but I DID leave a message on Paul’s cell, informing him that we were running late and would therefore have to skip the climactic scene. ”We’ll do it with a look,”I assured him." — Joseph Mallozzi, March 31, 2010
- "Considering Paul’s last script, Intervention (episode #1) was 48 pages and, at last count, the episode was timing five minutes long, it was obvious that Trial and Error needed a trim." — Joseph Mallozzi, April 6, 2010
- "Carl put out his revised writer’s draft of The Greater Good late this afternoon – just to spite Paul who spent the day in editing, working on the producer’s cut of episode 1, Intervention. It’s six seconds over and I can’t wait to see it. Andy’s Director’s cut was great!" — Joseph Mallozzi, April 13, 2010
- "I return to my office and have just settled in to do some writing – when Ashleigh walks in and informs me that everyone has gathered to watch the producer’s cut of Intervention. Fer crying out loud!!! Ashleigh scurries off, fearful of incurring my wrath. And I - Join everyone in the writers’ room for the screening. Great episode!" — Joseph Mallozzi, April 15, 2010
