In the Season One episode, 1.18 "Solitudes", SG-3 was sent to look for Jack O'Neill and Sam Carter when they failed to return with Daniel Jackson and Teal'c from P4A-771. Major Castleman was on the team and possibly its leader during this search mission because General Hammond instructed Teal'c to coordinate his rescue efforts with him. After their first mission together, Major Castleman returned to the SGC injured after he fell several meters from a rock ledge in a cave.

Next we hear that Major Warren is the commanding officer of SG-3 in the episode, 2.03 "Prisoners". SG-3 was assigned to rescue SG-1 after they had not reported back from their mission. They went to the planet, but were only able to come back with SG-1's equipment and to report that SG-1 had been sent to the prison planet Hadante. Major Warren wanted to pursue the rescue, but General Hammond asked that they continue on their regular mission schedule which was to the planet P2A-509. It was fortunate that General Hammond had them continue on their regular schedule because SG-1 was able to escape from Hadante and had travelled to P2A-509 to meet up with SG-3 knowing that they were supposed to be there. SG-1 had to do this because they no longer had a GDO and Major Warren allowed them to use his to send a signal to the SGC so that they would be able to go home.

The SG units must go through some sort of personnel rotation, because the next mission we hear about involving SG-3 was led by Col. Robert Makepeace. General Hammond sent SG-3 to the Tok'ra secret base on the planet designated P34-353J to extract Captain Carter because her father, General Jacob Carter, was dying of cancer. The Tok'ra kept SG-3 as an exchange for allowing Captain Carter and Colonel O'Neill to return home. When the Tok'ra base was betrayed by a traitor in their midst, the remaining members of SG-1 and SG-3 were released because the Tok'ra had to abandon the base. SG-3 helped the Tok'ra with their evacuation [2.11-2.12 "The Tok'ra"].

Col. Makepeace continued on as SG-3's commanding officer at the beginning of Season Three. On a mission they obtained information from several Tok'ra that SG-1 had been taken prisoner on P3X-254. Col. Makepeace reported this to Gen. Hammond and Hammond put him in charge of the rescue, leading SG-3, SG-5, SG-6, and SG-11. SG-3 stayed at the stargate on the planet, while Makepeace took the rest of the soldiers into Hathor's base. SG-3 was captured by Hathor's Jaffa and several men from the other units were killed. SG-1 was successfully extracted and the rest of the men were able to go home after a daring rescue by Teal'c and Gen. Hammond himself [3.01 "Into The Fire Part 2"].

SG-3 went with SG-1 to rescue the Abydonians taken by Amaunet in her kidnapping of the Harsesis. She was able to send the boy away with one of her trusted aides, but Amaunet, and Sha're, were killed by Teal'c with his staff weapon when he found her killing Daniel with the ribbon device [3.10 "Forever In A Day].

SG-3

Summary

SG-3 was one of the original nine units formed in the pilot episode, 1.02 "Children Of The Gods Part 2".

Season One

The unit was first organized as a Marine combat unit, going on missions deemed hazardous for SG-1 to go on alone.

In the Season One episode, 1.05 "The Broca Divide", there were four members of the team, two members known to us were:

When SG-1 and SG-3 went to P3X-797 (Land of Light), all of the members of the teams except for Daniel Jackson and Teal'c, were immediately the victims to the curse of the "Touched" virus. Lt. Johnson was the first to show signs of this virus when he attacked Teal'c during the mission debriefing. The other members of SG-3 eventually showed the debilitating effects of the virus soon afterward. Fortunately, Dr. Fraiser found a cure for the disease.

Sometime during Season One, SG-3 had brought back a small amount of raw naquadah, but it was not revealed from which planet it was taken, who was on the team at the time, or how many members were on the team. This information was given to us by Captain Carter when SG-1 had travelled to P3R-636 and saw some raw naquadah being sent through the stargate by the people of the planet in the episode, 2.05 "Need".

Seasons Two and Three
