10.01 PREMIERE (unknown working title) (Written by: Robert C. Cooper; Directed by: _) "Mitchell will have his hands full in the season premiere and throughout season 10, believe me." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 22. "Rob is writing the big season premiere that will pick up where Camelot left off, and kick off a major story arc." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog. We finally got around to spinning/breaking SG-1 last week only after the final deal had been closed (so that we knew exactly who we would be writing for, which always makes things infinitely easier). 10.02 "Morpheus" (working title) (Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _) "Two of the things that stand out about Morpheus for me are: 1) the great Carter/Daniel sequence late in the episode [described by Mallozzi as "angsty" in the comments section of his December 21 Blog entry] and, 2) Teal'c getting the opportunity to step up in a non-Jaffa story. As I mentioned in a previous post (somewhere), this is the episode where we're faced with the prospect of Vala's continued involvement in the Stargate Program and must ask ourselves some hard questions. By "we", of course, I'm referring to the SGC. [...] Anyhow, this is the episode where those in charge of the SGC [...] weigh in on Vala's worth, character, and past actions. Who knows what the future holds?" — Joseph Mallozzi, December 21 Blog. "Well, take Morpheus for example which, initially, was intended as a Carter-centered potential cross-over episode. "I wrote up the four outlines over two days (Atlantis episode #2, Morpheus, Counter-Strike, and Memento Mori), then started work on Morpheus which will be SG-1's second episode. It was a lot of fun but required a heady amount of research: Arthurian lore, Gwalchmei, the different stages of sleep, how the brain functions during sleep, and, of course, psychiatric evaluations. With Vala on board for all of season 10, we have to ask ourselves: Why would she want to join Stargate Command? Why would we want her to join Stargate Command? "A refashioned Morpheus will be episode 2." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions Forum, November 28. "I and/or Paul will be writing the second episode, formerly Morpheus but since some are worried that fans may confuse it with Orpheus or Moebius, I've decided to change the title to: "Before I Sleeping With the Enemy at the Gates of Heaven Can Wait Until Dark Water World" (Feel free to run with it. He is the god of dreams and usually takes on the form of humans, while his brothers take on the form of animals and inanimate objects. — Mythography: Morpheus; WikiPedia: Morpheus. "As pitched, both Suffer the Children and Orpheus [sic] are Carter stories. Extreme Measures is an SG-1 team episode. As of right now, "Suffer the Children", "Extreme Measures", and "The Darkest Recesses" have not yet been slated for production. "I've always been better pitching on paper than delivering verbal pitches, so I wrote up a bunch of story ideas for both shows: Extreme Measures, In the Darkest Recesses, The Kindred, Suffer the Children, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow, The Tainted, and Morpheus. I do know that Brad [Wright] liked Morpheus." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, November 13.
10.03 BRAD'S DANIEL STORY (unknown working title) (Written by: Brad Wright; Directed by: _) This story has "major story arc implications" and caused "heated debate in the writers' room", the reason being: "That you'll have to wait and see although, at the time we were discussing it, it was intended to serve as the launch for a significant, potentially very controversial story arc for one of the characters." — Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 22. This may or may not be related to the "controversial story arc" for Daniel and his becoming a darker character, as has been alluded to by Mallozzi in the past and which he has stated on SG1Solutions, "I've been sworn to secrecy on this one." "Brad is working on a story in which Daniel, finally, gets to go to Atlantis. So far, we have no Carter crossovers planned." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 20. (It was confirmed that Daniel's trip to Atlantis is to be in this episode by Joseph Mallozzi on SG1Solutions, December 21.) "As I mentioned in my previous blog entry, the occasionally bespectacled one takes a trip far, far away in episode 3. Brad will be doing the honors on this one. Very interesting. Not yet anyway." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 22. "As for the Furlings - how's this for a newsflash - we may finally find out about them in season 10. Don't laugh. "Episode 6 will be, of course, our 200th episode and we've tossed around some great, albeit insane, ideas on this one." — Joseph Mallozzi, November 28 Blog.
10.07 "Counter-Strike" (working title) (Written by: Joseph Mallozzi/Paul Mullie; Directed by: _) Concerning the two characters with a rocky past who are given a bonding opportunity in this episode, Joseph Mallozzi says, "It's not Landry and Lam." (SG1Solutions, December 22) "For instance, a while ago, a fan asked whether Daniel would be telling Vala about Sha're. At the time, my response was "it's possible" simply because the circumstances had not presented itself. Lo and behold, the proper circumstances did come along in Counter-Strike." — Joseph Mallozzi, GateWorld Q&A, December 22. "As I was writing Counter-Strike, I realized that it was a surprisingly sober outing for one particular character and wondered whether it was a little too "down". I honestly can't see how it can't be given the circumstances. Still, we finally get to see the inside of an Ori ship and the story affords a bonding opportunity between two characters with a rocky past." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 21 Blog. Vala will learn about Sha're and Amaunet [from either Daniel or Teal'c] in this episode. (Joseph Mallozzi, SG1Solutions, December 18) "The plan was to finish one script and write the second one in January when we got back to the office, choosing one and letting Paul write the Atlantis and the third SG-1. Well, that was the plan but after a couple of days of R&R, I started to feel guilty, so I started the second script, Counter-Strike, which I believe has been slotted for the 7 spot. Lots of good emotion in this one, bonding, and a significant loss at episode's end. I'm kind of concerned about the visual effects budget on this one and will look to trim a little in my next pass." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 14 Blog. "Going back with two scripts would be huge. Going back would be mind-blowing. So, I've started work on Memento Mori, which I believe is slotted for the 8 spot. I'm only into the first act and, ideally, would love to get it done before the family comes to visit on the 23rd. This one will also be a lot of fun and have already done a little research on memories, a certain war goddess from Cronos's neck of the woods, and Caribbean deli menus." — Joseph Mallozzi, December 14 Blog. "Episode 8 is going to be the Vala story I pitched (which came to me after a carafe of sake last Friday night) and we'll be getting around to breaking that one tomorrow.
