Geopolitical Structure and History
Simarka is a planet filled with rolling hills, grassy plains, and forests. The climate is colder, based upon the many furs its native people the Shavadai often wear. However, when SG-1 visited, the vegetation was green and leaves remained on the trees.
Some animal life exists there that the nomadic people either hunt or use for domestic purposes. Dogs, chickens, and horses were all present on the planet. Some dogs were wild. A pack was chasing one of the Shavadai natives, Abu, and would have killed him but for SG-1's intervention. Several herbs are used as medicines for such things as treating infections. These medicines intrigued SG-1 for trading purposes.
The people who lived on Simarka were nomadic tribes Daniel Jackson believed were the descendants of Mongols brought to the planet by the Goa'uld. The Goa'uld no longer came to the planet. The tribes, known as the Shavadai, each had separate hunting and farming territory that were exchanged by either warfare or trade. The land appeared fertile to all.
