Flanigan tweeted about the new project: “New project is a 2 hour backdoor/pilot about a young couple inheriting 5 adopted kids after the death of a friend, called ‘Best Laid Plans’.” … “I still play an AirForce pilot.” … “Just met cast. My 4 adopted children are more mature than I am. Need to put on game face and pretend to be my age.” Filming is scheduled to wrap September 26.
  • Beau Bridges didn’t take home the Emmy for his guest spot on The Closer. That honor went to another veteran actor, John Lithgow. (Lithgow just finished filming Rise of the Apes with Stargate star David Hewlett in Vancouver. Small world!)

His first episode is 10.02 “Shield” (story) which will premiere Friday, October 1, at 8 PM ET on the CW. The next episode is rumored to be 10.05 “Isis” on October 22. MSOL, the actor’s official website, reported that Shanks, while on-stage at the Chicago Stargate Con, stated that he will be appearing in the eleventh episode (title currently unknown). We’ll keep our eyes open for more news as the airings approach. Shanks is also still involved in the film project Red Riding Hood, which is scheduled to wrap on September 16.
  • John Scalzi didn’t take home the Hugo Award for which he had been nominated in the Best Novella category for The God Engines. Instead, the award went to Charles Stross for Palimpsest.
