The first SG-1 member shot with an Ori Staff Weapon was Lt. Col. Samantha Carter on P9C–882 while SG-1 was helping the villagers of that planet oppose an Ori invasion. Carter was attempting to use Merlin's interdimensional device (also known as Arthur's Mantle) to shift the entire village into an alternate dimension that couldn't be seen or detected by the Priors. The blast from which she suffered also hit her equipment and destroyed two of the three naquadah generators she was using to power the phase-shifting device. (10.12 "Line in the Sand")

Tomin fires Ori Staff Weapon

Summary

Tip of Ori Staff Weapon

Slightly smaller than the staff weapon used by the Goa'uld and Jaffa, the staff weapon given to the Ori's soldiers fires an extremely lethal and painful blast.

The lethal end of the weapon looks similar to the Ori's symbol that is embroidered on the Priors' tunics. Like the Jaffa's Staff Weapon, the Ori Staff Weapon is fired from a trigger positioned roughly halfway down the staff's length.

The energy blasts from an Ori Staff Weapon also have the same effect as that of the Jaffa's: a cauterizing deeply-penetrating burn. Well-targeted victims die immediately, but there have been those who have actually survived bodily injury from a single blast.

The weapon was seen used for the first time when Tomin of Ver Isca, Vala Mal Doran's husband, used it to destroy an Ancient Communications Terminal and to kill two anti-Ori rebels, Seevis and Denya. Seevis died immediately from the blast, but Denya lingered in pain before dying. (9.19 "Crusade Part 1")

Later, after Vala gave birth to the rapidly-growing offspring of the Ori, Adria the Orici, Daniel Jackson was the intended target when Tomin aimed his weapon at him in response to Adria's order to kill him. Vala stepped between the two men as Tomin fired, causing her to be the unintentional victim. Her wound was partially healed by Adria's advanced human ability to heal through touch, and Vala finished her recovery after being rescued by the crew of the Odyssey. (10.01 "Flesh And Blood Part 3")

Every Ori footsoldier carried an Ori Staff Weapon and used this weapon as their primary weapons, even if they also were equipped with the wrist energy weapon and a battle-ready sword. (10.11 "The Quest Part 2", 10.12 "Line in the Sand")

Lt. Col. Samantha Carter was shot with an Ori Staff Weapon on P9C–882 while SG-1 was helping the villagers of that planet oppose an Ori invasion.

Mitchell killed the Ori soldier who shot Carter, and the soldier fell dead in the same room in which Carter and Mitchell had phased into another dimension. Using the small, blue power crystal from the dead soldier's Ori Staff Weapon to power Merlin's device (the technology of the Ancients and the Ori are very similar because of their common roots), Carter and Mitchell successfully shifted the entire village so that the Prior left the planet after he thought he had successfully blasted them from orbit. (10.12 "Line in the Sand")

It took a few weeks for Carter make a full recovery from the blast. Mitchell's on-site medical intervention most probably saved her life. (10.12 "Line in the Sand")
