Stargate Solutions Announces New "Coming Soon" Feature

Stargate Solutions Coming Soon FeaturevSolutions is excited to present a new feature to our website: Coming Soon! It’s like walking into the lobby of a theater and looking at all of the movie posters for features that are showing or are “coming soon”!

Here’s the link: http://stargate-sg1-solutions.com/blog/coming-soon/. You can also get there by clicking on the words “COMING SOON” on our Blog’s white menu bar (above). We’ve also included access to it from our home page.

We’re excited because this new page fills a gap between our regular weekly feature “Stargate Planner” and our actors’ feature pages in “Beyond the Event Horizon” by letting you know in advance about the upcoming movie or television appearances of our Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe main cast members.

The movies may be coming soon to theaters, video, or television, while the television appearances include regular, recurring, and one-time guest appearances. As always, if you have news to add, please contact us and we’ll gladly update the feature.

Enjoy!

Extended “Apes” Trailer Features David Hewlett

A new, extended trailer for “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” features David Hewlett in what is likely  his main scene in the film, and a pivotal scene for the plot as well. The trailer shows off the amazing advancements in special effects of the movie, in which motion capture and CGI are used to turn actor Andy Serkis into Caesar the ape, even out on location.

Beware, this might be the bulk of David’s scenes in the movie, so don’t watch if you don’t want to be spoiled about his involvement or the character he plays!

Stargate Universe Wins Best Series Constellation Award

Stargate Universe has received the 2011 “Best Series” Constellation Award!

Here’s the announcement from the Constellation Awards via Market Wire:

July 19, 2011 06:00 ET

The Constellation Awards: Canada’s Annual Viewer-Voted Sci-Fi Film/TV Awards Winners Revealed

Critically Acclaimed Thriller Inception Multiple Winner at 2011 Constellation Awards

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – July 19, 2011) –

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor

FILM/TV AWARDS ANNOUNCEMENT – The TCON Promotional Society announced the winners of the Fifth Annual Constellation Awards, honouring excellence in science fiction film and television, at ceremonies held on Saturday at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel hosted by Teddy Wilson and Ajay Fry of InnerSPACE.

Inception was the evening’s big winner. Taking home two trophies for Best Film and Best Overall Script, Christopher Nolan’s story of subconscious industrial espionage had led film nominations with six. However, it failed to cash in on any of its three acting nominations. Best Male Performance went to Johnny Depp for Alice in Wonderland and Best Female Performance went to Chloe Grace Moretz for Kick-Ass, beating out past winners Robert Downey Jr. and Emma Watson.

In the television categories, Doctor Who – despite a record leading nine nominations – was virtually shut out, bringing home a single victory in the Technical Accomplishment category for composer Murray Gold. In another upset, Best Series went to the recently cancelled series Stargate Universe. Anna Torv scored a Best Female Performance win for CityTV’s Fringe, while Jewel Staite was on hand to present her friend and Firefly co-star, Adam Baldwin, with his Best Male Performance trophy for his work on Chuck.

Actor Paul McGillion of Stargate Atlantis presented the most prestigious award of the evening, Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film and Television in 2010, to this year’s hosts, Teddy Wilson and Ajay Fry for their work on SPACE’s flagship entertainment show InnerSPACE. After the ceremonies, Wilson announced to his fans via Twitter: “Such ridiculous fun! I can’t believe we won an award!”

For more information about The Constellation Awards, please visit http://constellations.tcon.ca or email constellations@tcon.ca/.

Congratulations to all involved with Stargate Universe!

Bridges has recently made two more guest appearances on other primetime shows that hold promise for recurring: Leonard Franklin in TNT’s Franklin & Bash (recently aired) and Agent Kramar in the upcoming midseason finale of USA’s White Collar (August 9). Even if these roles are not recurring, Bridges may still be nominated just like he was for his single guest appearance as Eli Scruggs in ABC’s Desperate Housewives a few years ago.
